Summary: Left Behind Series is getting thin
Review: I've been reading the left behind series by a fluke, let me explain I borrowed my brother's first installment (Left behind) and I was shocked, I wanted to keep reading about the prophecys and antichrist I read through the first six books like a brush fire, it was the first time that a book had captivated me so much and I bought them all (1-8 at that time) it started to get a little boring, don't get me wrong I still want to know what happens in the end, but I think that the authors should "spice up" the remaining books just a little more. I'm going to keep reading because I like the plot, but please make it a little more fun

Summary: Lost its punch
Review: I've gone as far with this series as I care to. At this point, I have no more interest in the main characters or plot to continue.

I have read another book in this vein entitle, "The Last Day," by Glenn Kleier, and believe that anyone who reads it will be impressed with a truly quality book on this topic. "The Last Day" is not a bible tool or some preachy, simplistic fundamentalist claptrap, but a true spiritual and intellectual novel that will challenge your mind and your soul. Read it if you would like a refreshing change of pace from LB.

Summary: Disappointed Again
Review: I loved the first books in the series but they have gotten progressively worse. Maybe it's just not possible for anyone to write so many books in one series and do it well. Jerry Jenkins and Tim Lahaye should end this soon and save their reputations. I think the character of Carpathia is an unbelievable representation of what the anti-christ will be like. I'm getting tired of all his silly antics. We're long over due to see the power of God at work. For a more true-to-life portrayal of end-times events try The Christ Clone Trilogy by James BeauSeigneur. In this trilogy each successive book is better then the one before it. So keep on reading.

Summary: One day at a time
Review: I'm thinking the end times will come before the end of this series. One day or two of progression per book is too slow. I thought this was only going to be a series of eight books when they first came out. I enjoy the books so much but it's very disappointing to wait several months for the next book and find out it only takes you a few days farther.

Summary: drags on
Review: I love the Left Behind books, but this one is tough for me to pick up. I bought it the day it came out & have to force my self to finish it. I have just finished skimming chapter 16. The days in the book seem to go on forever. Maybe too many people in the story & too much detail. Sorry to say it might be my last

Summary: The Long Tribulation
Review: Since the days of the Margo Mysteries I have been a great fan of Jerry Jenkins. Because I know he is such a good writer I am disappointed in the Left Behind series. I strongly support Christian literature but I cannot make myself purchase these books for my personal library. They are boring and slow. The email sermons the characters preach make the book of Leviticus into an action-packed adventure. The characters are not operating in prophetic times, rather science fiction--the abilities and luck of the "Trib Force" are too fantastic. They make it seem that it would be more fun to skip the rapture and hang around and be supermen fighting a childish, unclever antichrist. Not only do they defy logic, they defy Murphy's Law about things going wrong just with their magical cell phone reception worldwide. I may/do not always agree with his and Mr. LaHaye's interpretation of future events, but I am willing to give them the benefit of their imagination--who knows, it may happen their way. So my agrument is not with doctrine but with poor quality of writing. I am making myself read the whole series but truthfully after book two, I read them with the same gusto as I struggled through Beowulf in lit class. Please, Mr. Jenkins, distance yourself from these books. You are a great writer and your name doesn't belong on this quality of writing.

Summary: They're getting thin...
Review: My understanding was that the "Left Behind" series was only supposed to span eight or nine books. Now we're already to No. 9, and there are still at least three more books to come.

The padding is beginning to show.

The first few books kept me riveted, and I couldn't wait for the next one to come out. At this point, I feel like I'm reading through the series out of obligation -- if I quit now, I'd be admitting that I've wasted my time on something I'll never complete.

Don't get me wrong. I still enjoy reading these books ... somewhat. There are segments of "Desecration" which I tended to enjoy for a while. But they are separated by larger segments which alternate between being over-imaginative and outright boring. It almost seems as though LaHaye and Jenkins seem to be biding their time in order to make the series last longer. Even the type size and the spacing between the lines indicate that there's not as much in "Desecration" as the reader might hope for.

I also have a hard time believing that Carpathia could continue to be so stupid. How, for example, does his plane continue to be bugged while believers all around the world are able to tap into his most private discussions? How do the believers get ahold of DEWs -- Directed Energy Weapons -- which don't kill people but only heat up the skin (when such weapons don't even exist!)? There are only so many things which we can take on faith before we feel the need to return to some form of reality.

Again, I will continue to read the rest of the series so I can see how it concludes. However, I will likely seek to borrow future copies from friends and family members, since I doubt I'll ever re-read them after the first time through.

Summary: Desecration
Review: FABULOUS!! Each book builds on the last and gets more exciting. This book reveals more and more of the antichrist and his agenda. A must read!! I can't wait for the next one!

Summary: I AM VERY IMPRESSED
Review: I have been reading this whole series since it started, and I must say that I can not wait to read the next book (#10). I am a christian myself and can honestly say that this series helps you see the end time in a more "real" aspect. I feel I understand more about it and have been telling everyone to read them. I am very disappointed to see some of the reviews, this series is not something you can easily brush aside. It deals with reality of what is to come, just dramatized.

Summary: The Best End Times Books EVER!!!!!
Review: The books are brilliantly conceived, flawlessly developed, and perfectly executed. The scholarship is incredible. They are so believable and so true to life and scripture, you'll keep saying to yourself, 'It could really happen this way!' Okay, no, I'm not talking about the Left Behind series, I'm talking about The Christ Clone Trilogy by James BeauSeigneur.

I've read Left Behind from book one through nine even though every time I picked up one of the books I'd scratch my head and ask, 'Why can't these guys write a better story? Aren't they aware that their portrayal of the Tribulation is so flawed it makes Christians look like mental midgets and real losers?' But still I read. Then I saw several of the reviews (like this one) talking about how much better The Christ Clone Trilogy is than Left Behind. I wasn't too sure I wanted to start another series about the end times, but I figured at least there are only three books, and I was desperate for something better. I went in with only moderate expectations of The Christ Clone Trilogy, but I had no idea what I was in for. I was TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY! Do yourself a BIG favor. See for yourself.
