Rating: Summary: An Easy Read Review: Did you ever read a book and at the end you're not quite sure if you liked it or not? That's how I feel about Hissy Fit. I liked most of the characters well enough, but I was a little disappointed with the ending. I think the character of Will Mahoney was not fleshed out enough - I couldn't quite grasp on to his attraction. He just wasn't there enough for me to like him. Which didn't keep me from reading the book straight through in one sitting. But the main female character, Keeley, was very strong - not a wimpering, simpering violet at all, but a woman who deals with life head on. I definitely enjoyed that aspect. And the story was good as well. I look forward to reading her other books.
Rating: Summary: Ready for a good laugh? Review: Don't read this book at night on an airplane. The laughing out loud will disturb the other passengers. I don't know if you'd call this a mystery or not, although the heroines mother has been missing for 25 years. And It's not exactly a slapstick comedy - but close. After all when the out of town investor comes in to buy the Loving Cup Bra Company.
This is the third book published under the nom de plume Mary Kay Andrews. It's set in the south (Madison, Georgia this time.) like the others in the series. And it's filled with antique shopping. If you really want to know more you should visit marykayandrews.com
Rating: Summary: Great mix of suspense, silliness and sweat! Review: I think MKA is my new favorite author. I loved this book, especially Keeley and Austin. I look forward to more!!!
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, entertaining read Review: If you are looking for fine literature then skip this book and head in another directions. If you are looking for steamy romance and lots of lovin' in your next book then you are in the wrong place. If you need to relax your mind and relieve a little stress then this could be the book for you.
Mary Kay Andrews presents readers with another light, fun, slightly implausible book with a heroine you can't help but cheer on in her exploits. Her friends and cohorts are believable and to those of us lucky enough to have first hand experience with small, southern towns, they are folks we already know from personal history.
Of course there is the mystery element, which was the thing that stretched the limits of believability the most. I don't know of anywhere that a person can just disappear for 25 years without serious questions being asked. Even in the sleepy southern town where I was born and reared that simply couldn't happen.
In the end I still liked Keely and her cohorts. That makes for a pretty satisfying light read for this busy, harried mom.
Rating: Summary: bad editing Review: Read all the reviews, thought this would be a nice lite book to read for fun ... talk about droning on and on and on. Half-way through so far, and it is obvious that the proofreaders and editor should have actually read this before going to print. Sadly disappointing ... especially since I ordered another book from the same author.
Rating: Summary: Predictable and surprising ~ a nice mix Review: Some of the things that happened in this terrific book I saw coming. But you know, that was okay, because there still managed to be twists and turns that I *didn't* see coming, and that made for quite a ride.
I started ~ and finished ~ this book in one evening. I stayed up much too late finishing it because I could not put "Hissy Fit" down! Engaging characters, humor, drama, sadness....it's all there. The Southern setting is as much a part of the story as any character, and I don't think it would have been quite the same book if it took place in, oh, Montana. Absolutely delightful from the first page to the last.
If you enjoy the works of Jennifer Crusie and Janet Evanovich, to name just a couple, I'm certain this will be a favorite as well.
Rating: Summary: Rollicking read full of romance, mystery and fun! Review: This book by Mary Kay Andrews (aka Kathy Hogan Trocheck) begins with bride-to-be Keeley Murdock walking in on groom-to-be A.J. Jernigan and the maid of honor, Paige Plummer, while they are going at it on the mahogany board room table in the Country Club board room. It's the night of the rehearsal dinner. But instead of practicing for her wedding the next day, Keeley pitches the hissy fit of the century and calls the wedding off.
The events that unfold after that action-packed beginning take the reader through a binge-eating depression (might as well polish off all that leftover wedding food), romance, antique hunting, decorating, and mystery (as in whatever happened to Keeley's mother who disappeared 25 years ago?).
This book is a hilarious, riveting read. It's set in Madison, Georgia and will appeal to Georgia readers as well as antiquers and decorating fans from all over. It's fun, it's light, and there's a great plot and likable, interesting characters. I couldn't put it down and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good, entertaining read with a great mystery woven throughout.
Rating: Summary: What a delight Review: This book has fun, humor, mystery, laughs and Southern charm. What more could you want. Mary Kay Andrews sure does have a way with words and you will fall in love with all of her characters. This was my first MKA book, but not my last.
Rating: Summary: Laugh out loud, should be made into a movie Review: This book is funny right from the first page to the last. There are many laugh out loud moments and Keeley is a great creation. Her attitude and actions are entertaining. This book reads fast.
Rating: Summary: The Best Hissy Fit Review: This was a great book! My first read of this author, and I will be checking out more of her books.
The characters were well drawn, and the plot great. The beginning was hysterical even though you couldn't help but feel sorry for Keeley. I loved how the story played out and how a little bit of mystery was thrown in for good measure.
A perfect book for the weekend and a quick read. Highly recommended!
