Rating: Summary: Without excuse Review: An exciting story of a serial killer vigilante as American super hero in a black and white world of myopic tunnel vision. If you don't mind troglydyte heroes who are predominantly white, and unidimensional villains who are predominantly ethnic or racial minorities than this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: No remorse for reading "Without Remorse"! Review: Well I decided to read a Clancy novel, just to see what all the hype was about. Once I began to read Without Remorse, I began to buy other Clancy novels for future reading. Now that I have finished the book, I am ready to read the entire set of Clancy novels! This book was wonderful. I loved the way it blended black-op missions, CIA spy games, high-tech espionage, and intense action with an underlying story that was meaningful and strong in itself. It wasn't a poor plot used as an excuse to throw James Bond stuff at you, but a real story that makes you wonder at how things are really going to end. The characters grow on you like you wouldn't believe, and the Vietnam aspect was wonderful (set during the Vietnam War). I thought it was wonderful, and it is a great book to read whether you read Clancy all the time or have never picked one of his books up. Either way, be sure to read this one, it was GREAT!!
Rating: Summary: Andy L. Review: The book 'Without Remorse' by Tom Clancy was an action pack thriller! Clancy has you sucked into this book with page after page of reading non stop. A former NAVY seal named John Kelly or Clark, had been exploding a old oil digger under water. On the way back he had herd the news that his wife had died in a brutal car accident. On his way to his cruser known as "Springer" he picks up a hich hiker. This character was Pam. Pam and kelly had headed back to the boat together and Pam had stayed a few days with Kelly and he has fallen in love with Pam. Later on Pam tells Kelly that she has been abused by her...friend Henry and her friends were also being abused. In Kelly's anger he and Pam went back to Baltamore to stop what was going on! This book also decribes Kelly going back to Vietnam to rescue 20 former prisoners at a scret prision. The book explanes the two stories and it is a must read book!!! You must own a copy of this book it will keep you on the edge of you seat and if you like killings and action all in one book then this is a book for you!
Rating: Summary: Without remorse Review: This is truly one of the greatest books I have ever read ! It's got everything! Action packed from cover to cover. This book is a must in every bookshelf !
Rating: Summary: Page-Turning Suspense. Review: I first read this book 3 or 4 years ago; I can't quite remember, but this one's like Hugo's "Les Miserables" in that once I pick it up, I don't put it away 'til it's completely read. I've read both books through at least 2 times each. John Kelly/Clark is somebody I'd want in my corner on any given day-were he a real person. Clancy's portrayal of Kelly/Clark is one of a tortured soul; experiences have carved their scars on this guy's heart and he doesn't forget them. I was intensely surprised by the relationship between he and Nurse Sandy O'Toole. (READ THE BOOK!). This one works; I've read other Clancy writings. This one lets you into John Kelly's head to see where he came from and why he decides to avenge the death of Pam Madden. And we all can ask ourselves, "would we do the same if we knew someone who had been treated like Pam had?" Thought-provoking. Great read; great writing. A DEFINITE page turner.
Rating: Summary: The untold story of John Clark. (john Kelly) Review: This book is about the early like of John Kelly. Before he was known as John Clark. He falls in love with a prostitute and she is killed bye her former pimp, Kelly goes off and begins killing every pimp in town. Hes really bloodthirsty in this one. When he goes to kill the guy who killed his girlfriend he takes him out on an island and tortures him. Very bloody, I loved it! One of his best.
Rating: Summary: Different -- but in this case, different is GOOD Review: The first thing you notice about 'Without Remorse' is that it is NOT a Jack Ryan adventure, in fact he is nowhere to be found within the many pages of this book. Clancy took a gamble on this knowing it would ultimately turn off some of his die hard Ryan fans, but if you pass this one up, you are losing out on quite a literary adventure. Only John Clark comes close to being as well developed as Ryan...but we have no idea about how he came to be who he is today, and more important, the WHY? 'Without Remorse' tells John's tale, which is far from a pretty one. John's tale begins during the Vietnam War and moves from one continent to another and show's us what John is made of, and why. He never set out to be John Clark (not his real name), in fact the events which transpire and ultimately force John to do the unthinkable are horrific indeed, but it makes you wonder what you would do given the same circumstances... I wouldn't go so far as to say I would actually do the same, but would I entertain the thought? Yeah, sure. What limits do we have as humans? We get to find out Clarks here in a decidedly different story than what we have come to expect from Clancy, and easily one of the better novels he has produced. I also very much enjoyed 'Rainbow Six' which seemed to be panned by many, but hey, I'm a BIG John Clark fan... 'Without Remorse' is a worthy addition to Clancy's great collection of works, and very worthwhile to buy and read.
Rating: Summary: Rambo meets Death Wish (Taxi Driver? Terminator?) Review: RE; ABRIDGED AUDIO CASSETTE VERSION. Two simulanteous capers from the same protagonist - mission impossible commando raid and avenging vigilante assassin - should not work together in a credible plot structure, but here it does. Such is Clancy's skill as a storyteller. Neither should the hardboiled hero's love-at-first-touch fling with a lost girl be sufficient motivation for the events that follow but, again, Clancy makes it work. My suggestion: sit back and enjoy a master weave suspense from what should be unbelievable circumstances. Dukes, although not my favorite reader, does good work with this one.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best. Review: This one blew me away. I started this book not suspecting much. Wow I was blown away. We start with a man named Kelly and well I can't really say more with out giving the book away. All I have to say is that this books rocks. Clancy takes you for a ride. There is so many sub-plots in this book. So you can never get bored with it. At one time Kelly is doing this then he is doing something with the CIA. I mean it is a big action pack thriller. The ending is what brings it all together to make all his other books make sence and I commened him for that.
Rating: Summary: Without Remorse Review: This is by far one of Tom Clancy's best books. Having served in the Navy with Navy SEALS, I can appreciate their skills and knowledge of warfare. A previous review mentioned John Kelly was an ex-Marine, that's incorrect. The Navy has the SEALS. The Marines have Force Recon. But, arguably, the best at special warfare are the SEALS, and this book shows that.
