Rating: Summary: Kinsella Never Fails To Make A Masterpeice Review: Sophie Kinsella manages to do it again. She yet again had produced a book that I find myself unable to put down. Her cute quirky comments never fail to make you smile. The romantic swist at the end is the icing on the cake. I found myself wanting more once it was over.
Rating: Summary: Very funny Review: I am not normally a fan of romantic comedy but this had the perfect touch. You meet the man of your dreams on a plane, and he turns out to be your new boss when you are back at work on Monday morning. Only instead of telling a pack of lies to impress, she blurts out the whole truth about everything and every one in her life. There are the white lies we tell, and things we don't say at all, to avoid hurting the people we care about, and then there are huge whoppers. Emma falls into the first category. Jack is so secretive she can't get him to talk at all. When he finally does, he tells all about her, because he loves her. But with the most shcoing results. The dramatic tension and romantic tension in the book is far better than any of her Shopaholic books. And I find Emma much more charming. the cast of characters who all get their comeuppance in one way or the other are priceless. One thing is for sure, you will never look at lawyers or little white lies the same way again, let alone thong underwear! I loved Jack-he actually had personality compare with Luke in her other books. Fast paced and extremely funny! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: I'll Tell You A Secret---I Love This Book! Review: It's light, fun, and totally entertaining. No deep plot, no bio-terrorism or horrific religious scandal. Just a breezy and funny slice of life as seen through the eyes of Sophie Kinsella's newest heroine, the endearing Emma Corrigan. Already a white-knuckle flyer, Emma goes to pieces when her flight from Glasgow to London encounters severe turbulence. Thinking the end is near, she spills every secret she has ever had to the stranger next to her. How she lost her virginity, what she really thinks of her boyfriend, the petty stunts she pulls on co-workers, the way she killed her parents' goldfish while they were on vacation and replaced it without their knowledge, her deepest thoughts on g-strings, cousins, Charles Dickens, and more. When the plane miraculously lands, Emma is thankful she will never again see this man who knows every little secret of her life. Emma returns to her job as a junior marketing executive and as she attempts to climb the corporate ladder, every embarrassing secret of her life is exposed. How Emma combats this public humiliation and discovers another person's secret makes for a rollicking good read. Emma is very reminiscent of Kinsella's other heroine, the shopaholic Becky Bloomwood. Equally appealing are Emma's two flatmates---her life-long friend Lissy and the irrepressible Jemima who will have you laughing hystericaly at her thoughts on men, jewels, and all things fashionable. This is a quick and fun read, sure to satisfy fans of the Shopaholic series or chick-lit in general.
Rating: Summary: Kinsella does it again! Review: I loved the Shopaholic series and was excited read Sophie Kinsella's next offering! It was a fun & quick read! Not too much thinking involved on the readers part (except one part where you are trying to figure out a certain someone's secret) -it will take you away into Emma Corrigan's world for a little while. Shopaholic lovers enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Kinsella does it again! Review: This book is laugh out loud funny, just like the Shopaholic series. It should be a must read on your summer list!
Rating: Summary: I'll never tell...okay, I'll tell you! Review: I bought this book last night I finished reading it just a few hours later. It tells the story of how the white lies of Emma's life have defined all of her relationships. She's a twenty-something who has struggled to find her way in the last few years and tries to make her relationships with others smoother by telling them mostly what they want to hear, all the while not she's not happy. On a bumpy flight home from a bumpy business meeting, she tells all of the secrets she's been keeping from everyone to a complete stranger confident that she'll never see him again. Only, it doesn't quite work out that way... I loved this book! As a twenty-something who's going through my own bumpy life, I completely identified with Emma and loved her to pieces. I think Ms. Kinsella's writing style and storylines have improved so much over the Shopaholic series (which I loved) and it allowed me to enjoy all of the characters. It's very similar to the Shopaholic books as it addresses the need for honesty in all relationships in order to be happy but at the same time taking in to consideration the needs of the other people we interact with in our lives. I found myself laughing out loud at many points and crying at several as well. Chaucer this book is not, but it IS a standout in a world cluttered with mediocre chick lit
Rating: Summary: Can You Keep a Secret Review: Better than I expected! Right up there w/ the shopaholic series.
Rating: Summary: Best So Far Review: I have never reviewed anything with the best possible rating, until now. Can You Keep A Secret? actually deserves it. This is the only book I have read that truly deserves all five stars. It was Kinsella at her best. The novel was laugh-out-loud funny, and I must say, I actually did a minimum ten times. There were many of those moments when you go back to re-read the same passage in case you missed something, but you still laugh just as hard the second time around. I can honestly say I enjoyed these more than the Shopaholics, mainly because the main character is more likeable. She is realistic and genuine - truly someone I would want to be friends with. I believe any woman who often speaks before running her words through her 'filter' would love this novel as much as I did.
Rating: Summary: Another Winner!!! Review: As a devotee of the Shopaholic books, I eagerly read Can You Keep a Secret the minute it came out. I was thrilled with it. The premise, that the main character, Emma, thinks she is going to die in a plane crash and divulges her most intimate secrets to a handsome stranger hooked me from the very beginning. I read the entire book in one night!!! The plot twists were engaging and surprising, and though the story didn't go quite as "deep" as I'd hoped, I thought it was an excellent read.
Rating: Summary: Sophie Has Another Hit! Review: I am a HUGE fan of Sophie Kinsella's books. I loved the entire Shopaholic series. I had high hopes for this new book and it was better than expected. I laughed out loud and couldn't put the book down. Emma Corrigan is the character in this novel and she has a few secrets from her boyfriend, her family, and her friends. Don't we all? On a plane ride home from a disastrous business meeting they hit turbulance and she thinks she's going to die. She spills all her secrets to the man next to her on the plane. This man turns out to be the very sexy owner of the company she works for...Emma later finds out. The story goes from there and is so funny, heart wrenching, and honest. We all have secrets...even little things like weight and hair color...that we don't want to get out. Emma is totally easy to relate to and Kinsella has a way of making you really feel the character. I wanted to be there to help Emma out or give her a hug. I definitely recommend this book.
