Rating: Summary: LOVED THE SERIES!!! HATED THE MOVIE!!! Review: This story and the entire series was beautiful. It illustrates what family is all about. Family is not just about blood its about LOVE,TRUST,RESPECT & LOYALTY. If this was required reading in high school maybe we wouldn't be a nation full of Jerry Springer guest. The selflessness of the young men in this story is inspiring. These young men show that even if life has been tough on you there is hope. This book and the entire Claybourne series really touched me. Julie Garwood is a sure thing!! I love all of her stories. ****WARNING JULIE GARWOOD FANS**** the movie ROSEHILL that is suppose to be based on this wonderful book in my opinion was awful!! They made Mary Rose out to be very selfish and mean. They KILLED OFF COLE!!! They never showed the family bonds that were created and were the main part of this lovely story. In essence everybody grew apart in the movie. They even leave you feeling that Adam will die of consumption eventually.. It was sad and depressing and I feel it didn't capture the magic of this book!!!
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK!!!!!! Review: This book was wonderful. In fact the whole series is great. Keep up the good work Julie.
Rating: Summary: Pathetic excuse for a book Review: I thought the book started off well -- the prologue that is -- nicely written. The rest of the story however was a sorry joke. The dialogue (Page after page of it) was literally chilish jibberish -- drawn out and SO SO BORING and uncreative. Characters are also blaise. Where are the real writers?
Rating: Summary: This book deserves 10 stars!! Review: One of the most beautifully written and touching books I have ever read!! Enchanting, charming, and just all around wonderful!! Definately one of the best romance books out there. Mrs.Garwood knows how to make you fall in love with each and every one of her characters, not an easy feat for a writer!
Rating: Summary: Great begining for a series! Review: I enjoyed this book very much. The first book I read by Julie Garwood was "One Pink Rose" and I loved it. Later on, I got "One White Rose" and "One Red Rose." At that time, "Come the Spring" didn't come out yet, so I went and got "For the Roses", a lot about the family history made more sense after I read "For the Roses". I recomend this book for anyone who loves romance.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely wonderful! Review: I loved it so much! I just couldn't put it down. For the Roses is a classic novel. I have read it several times. All my friends have read it, and they love it too! I suggest reading For the Roses, alonf with all the sequals. (Red Rose, White Rose, and Pink Rose. Also Come the Spring) I have read every one!
Rating: Summary: o.k. Review: I like Julie Garwood's books a lot, but I think, the more she writes, the less touching the stories are. I must say, that at times I found it really boring. The thing I liked best, was the description of the family. as usual, the secondary characters of Julie's books are great. The hero lacked a bit and the heroine was just like other heroines in her former books, no new character development, and what's more, not as good as the other ones. I think she could have done better than this. the older books like The Bride and Saving Grace are much better. I was a bit dissapointed of this one.
Rating: Summary: Look foward to more... Review: After the release of the Clayborne Brides, can't wait to read about what the author has in mind for Cole, the mean one. Should be the most interesting as I was looking forward to to how his relationship with Eleanor would develop. Anyway, the author may have other ideas.
Rating: Summary: This story is so wonderful!! Review: I loved this story. Julie Garwood took five characters and made a wonderful, loving family. The family scenes remind me so much of my family. This book is so full of rich characters, humor, friendship, and love. I truly enjoyed reading this book, and will re-read it several times.
Rating: Summary: For the Roses Review: I decided to read this book after seeing the t.v. version from Hallmark. I usually do not read Romance novels but this one was different. I liked how the area of where the Clayboures were living was detailed, the relationships of the family members, and the letters to Mama Rose kept her in the forfront of the story. The author pulls you into the story and makes you feel like you are a part of it. That to me is a sign of a good writer. I look forward to reading more by this author.
