Summary: Ironic
Review: What could be more unpatriotic than to attack a wide swath of your own countrymen as if they're your enemies and to deliberately seek to undermine anyone who does not believe in your radical ideology and agenda? A true patriot places her country's best interests before her own, which is certainly not the case here. I guess that doesn't sell enough books. We all disagree with a lot of what goes on in our country, whether we're on the left, right or in the middle, and we have a civic duty to speak out for what we believe in, but most of us still have the decency to politely disagree with others and to know that deliberate divisiveness can only weaken the fabric of our nation. Coulter, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and their kind are not interested in the kind of healthy debate that keeps our country strong and moving in the right direction, they're only interested in appealing to our worst instincts and setting us against each other for their own selfish gain. It's time this type of attempt to tear down the good will of the American people for cheap political and monetary gain is denounced as its own form of treason. When are we going to begin demanding some basic decency from these people? Is this really the kind of nation you want us to be? Despite what Ann Coulter wants you to believe, your fellow Americans are not your enemies. There are plenty of those in other parts of the world and we have nothing to gain and everything to lose by brutally attacking each other at a time when we should all be resolved to work together for a safer and healthier America. The only people who are gaining from this constant, demeaning war of words are the likes of Ann Coulter, who is laughing all the way to the bank while we all fight with each other. A book like this should make you angry at Ann Coulter, not her enemies. Enough already!

Summary: I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT
Review: I love Ann Coulter. I know that everything she says is true because when I did a Lexis-Nexis search for "Coulter AND research AND factual AND truth AND honor AND human being" there were no hits!!!

Oh, hey, wait a minute......

Review: The adminstration fails to defend the US on 9-11.

The adminstration allows members of the bin Laden family to leave.

The adminstration allows Taliban and al Qaeda members to be airlifted from Kunduz at the behest of Pakistan.

The adminstration fights tooth and nail against a congressional inquiry.

The adminstration fights tooth and nail against said inquiries for about a year.

The adminstration fights for (and gets) a redacted version to be released.

The adminstration fights tooth and nail against an independent inquiry.

The adminstration continues to stonewall said indepedent inquiry.

The adminstration (and it's shills) lies to the American people to get us into war.

The adminstration (and it's shills) lies about the casualities from said war.

The adminstration (and it's shills) lies and attacks anyone who questions its policies. Even to the point of outing CIA operatives.

Summary: this IS factual! I check her sources!!!
Review: Read treason, then go get this book:
Venona: Decoding Soviet Espionage in America
by John Earl Haynes & Harvey Klehr

To all the other reviews who say she lies, you obviously have not read her footnoes (many, many per page). I backtracked her facts using her footnotes, and found them acurate. Further, visit: ...

for unbiased documented proof. This is THE cable from the soviet spymaster in Washington to his HQ in Moscow. Don't anyone dare say that Coulter doesn't back up her facts when I can find this on the NSA web site.

Summary: Documentation of Liberal Lies
Review: Read the book, research the citations, and admit she has valid documentation for her opinions making her views completely plausible. Next, get it through your heads that liberals throughout history have put America in danger with their views. After that, realize that liberals are whiners and cry when they don't get what they want. If that doesn't work, then maybe write a review saying "I wish I could give this book zero stars" and call Coulter names to try and make up for your bankrupt lives.

Summary: I wish I could give a -5 stars for a rating
Review: I have one quick thing to say...this book just proves once again that Ann Coulter is a lying B**** who lies all the time. Just like her book Slander, this one is a bunch of BS and lies from a crazy psychotic conservative.
And, this is not coming from a liberal. This is not coming from someone who doesn't like to be hated so much by this woman. I consider myself neither a conservative or a liberal. However, if Ann Coulter is what conservatives are suppose to be like, then I would sure as hell never want to be one and associate myself with such people.

Summary: The treason here is the betrayal of the facts
Review: I went into this book with an open mind. I have seen Ann Coulter on TV, and while often in disagreement with her points, have always been at least impressed by her steadfast defense of them. After reading Treason however, it is entirely clear that the author has become nothing more than a charicature of the very ideology she purports to support. Her rancor, her divisiveness and her blatant lack of factual support for either her anecdotes or her contentions is truly laughable.

The distortions, sins of omission and outright fallacies within this book are painful to read. To address some previous reader comments about 1-star reviewers "being close-minded" or "unwilling to face the truth" (I'm paraphrasing here), let me just say that almost every inch of Coulter's work has been thoroughly debunked. (There are numerous sites on the web devoted to this purpose.)

I don't dislike this book or its author because she says things that I don't want to hear or read, I dislike them because they are demonstrably untrue, lower the quality of political discourse in this country, and serve to do nothing but keep Coulter's face on TV and her pockets lined.

"Treason" is the worst kind of demagoguery, and Ann Coulter should be ashamed.

Summary: Soviet-style hatchet job
Review: The style of argumentation in this book will remind readers of the tirades against US-based capitalism that used to come out of the former Soviet Union: demonize the enemy. That's all this is. Turn the opponent into inhuman mush.
I am endlessly amazed how much extremists around the world have in common.

Summary: This book is hilarious satire!
Review: I find Coulter's books to be absolutely hilarious portrayals of an insanely hypocritical right-winger -- they are to conservatives what the film "This is Spinal Tap" was to rock bands. She's an unparalleled satiric genius, capable of passing herself off as one who believes her ridiculous arguments to the fullest. For example, she's apt to claim that the religious right is basically a myth created by the biased liberal media in one chapter, and then claim that all non-Christians will burn in hell the next! It's particularly hilarious how she contantly cites Orwell to support her positions, in spite of the fact that Orwell was a socialist whose books warned of the dangers of a right wing, totalitarian state, and featured protagonists that would likely be labelled as "traitors" in one of Coulter's satires. Brilliant!

Summary: Infuriating Screed
Review: Although occasionally entertaining, Coulter's latest tirade is as inaccurate as her last book, as is well-documented throughout the Web. Here's a nice site that discusses many of the outright lies in her book, and I recommend checking that out.

It's fitting that she spends about half the book defending McCarthyism. Absurdly, she defends it by insisting that, at the time, the threat of communism was real, as though that were widely disputed by Americans. But while it's easy to see now that the threat of communism was exaggerated at the time, nobody criticized McCarthy for attacking an imaginary opponent. The only complaint against McCarthyism that I've ever heard is that the mere accusation of communism was enough to destroy a persons life or career, without the necessity of a conviction. This point, which to me is the essence of McCarthyism, is undisputed by Coulter. Rather, she concedes it, sarcasticly lamenting the people who had to flee the country after they were falsely accused of communism, saying how nice it is to live in Europe.

And, of course, Coulter is engaged in a witch-hunt of her own, falsely accusing her political enemies of treason. She seems to have just two tricks up her sleeves to defend her indefensible position. The first is the double-standard. Thus, when conservatives argue against liberal Presidents, that proves that the liberal President is a traitor on account of the veracity of those criticisms. But when Liberals argue against conservatives, that demonstrates that those liberals are traitors, on account of their opposition to the leaders of their own country. When a single historian or journalist makes a point favorable to Coulter's position, that proves Coulter's position. But when historians and journalists universally make a point unfavorable to Coulter's position, that is proof of the liberal bias of historians and journalists.

Coulter's other trick is to argue against a straw man. She takes the most outlandish position ever stated by anyone who Coulter decides is liberal, and declares it the mainstream liberal position. She takes two different, inconsistent views, held by two different people who she's decided are liberal, and then claims that this proves that the liberal position is inconsistent. She takes a single example of a liberal doing something bad and says that it proves that all liberals do this bad thing. And when she can't find even one liberal to argue for a position, she just makes it up. Over and over, she tells us that the liberals' true motives for taking a position are different from their stated motives, or what liberals would say about some hypothetical situation.

Oh, and here's a great quote that, perhaps, tells us a little about Coulter's true motives for innocently taking some of the positions she's taken. She says of all the foreigners who are more afraid of American aggression than they are of the terrorists, "They hate us? We hate them. Americans don't want to make Islamic fanatics love us. We want to make them die. There's nothing like horrendous physical pain to quell anger. Japanese Kamikazes pilots hated us once, too. A couple of well-aimed nuclear weapons got their attention. Now they are gentle little lambs." (page 230).

In short, either Coulter is joking or she is a joke. Either way, she is impossible to take seriously.
