Rating: Summary: If you read only one book this summer, read this one. Review: Ann Coulter is the sexiest conservative on Earth, and not just because of her brilliant mind. Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism, her latest endeavor, could only be made better if she inserted a section of pictures of herself (hint, hint). But, alas, it should be mandatory reading regardless. Ann has shown in her last two books her impressive ability to wrap her mind around the hypocrisy and disingenuity of the Liberal Left, exposing them to the lightning of her terrible, swift mind. True, Liberals make a prima facie case against themselves on a daily basis, but it is easy to be overcome by the constant droning of their propaganda, and one can find it easy to simply succumb to the banter as one would become accustomed to white noise. But Ann has a talent for pointing out the audacity and arrogant disinformation, and when she does so she sticks the collective Liberal puppy's nose to the you-know-what that they have left around our house. Treason is a study of the Left's consistent and ongoing guerrilla war against America, which they primarily fight with weapons of mass disinformation in our universities and media. Anyone who has had to endure a political science professor pontificate on the virtues of Bill Clinton and communitarianism can relate immediately. But the mythical version of the Senator Joseph McCarthy as a boogieman is their favorite vehicle of historical distortion. Ann may not be firing the first shot back in defense of this honorable man, but she is firing one that they will certainly feel. Beginning with the first chapter, Ann describes and documents the love affair of Liberals and the Democrat Party with America's enemies. She reveals how their counsel on self defense against dangerous foes to our freedom has consistently been that of surrender. Many of us have struggled many times with the determination of which character flaws produce such inane concepts as a defeat of America's military power by Saddam Hussein. Ann settles the question for us by stating what all of us who have argued with Liberals or watched them banter on TV have thought at least once: "They (Liberals) are either traitors or idiots, and on the matter of America's self-preservation, the difference is irrelevant." By exposing Communist infiltration in the highest reaches of American government and culture, McCarthy exposed the Liberal agenda itself. For this cardinal sin against the Left, his name has been built into and institution of hatred and propaganda. "McCarthyism" has become the catch-all and first resort to deflect the righteous indignation of patriotic Americans when Liberals make ridiculous and idiotic statements. This has become so reflexive a quality of Liberals that even when Ann appeared last week on ABC's The View as a guest co-host, the charge of "McCarthyism" was leveled on people who "wrap themselves in the flag" as opposed to being patriotic (Meredith Viera: "That's what some Liberals are against"; Joy Behar: "...they cover up their evil with a flag, and that is a sin."), all while discussing a book exposing the fraud of "McCarthyism". Good job, girls. The "Red Scare" that we are taught about in our liberal public schools and colleges was, in fact, a true threat to the existence of our country. This is already known as fact outside of our hallowed halls of learning, and we don't need another book to prove it. Treason is not about exposing this fact, but rather it exposes how we are told to believe otherwise. Ann deftly presents the facts side by side with the contextual statements of the Left in a way that there can be no mistake about the motives at play. As she did in Slander, Ms. Coulter uses a simple yet devastating tactic to breath the light of truth on the Liberal agenda: By their own works ye shall know them. As with Ann's previous work, Treason leaves the reader wanting more the way a newborn craves air. I have a feeling that she is just getting started. And maybe, just maybe, her next book will have pictures, too.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant! Review: I am a senior citizen and I was there, I saw what happened in the hearings - first hand. I even knew some of the principals involved. And I can say, without question, Sen. Joseph McCarthy was hated and reviled for no reason other than the fact that he dug into the creeping, insidious totalitarian/Communist assault on our country. The revisionists have hated and dogged him all the way to his grave, and I hoped this day would come.... That someone would document the FACTS and right the wrongs committed against him by left-wing ideologues with their perverted agenda to destroy his name and turn him into the butt of barroom jokes. Ann Coulter did her homework. I hope people will read her book with an open mind and double check her facts against documented historical records. If they do, they'll be shocked at how many so-called "history" writers have smeared an honest American and probably drove him to an early death. OPEN YOUR EYES, AMERICA! DARE TO READ IT AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELVES.
Rating: Summary: Where, exactly is she wrong? Review: This was a quick read for me. An eye opener, since I had been led to believe that McCarthy was satan incarnate. All the negative criticism toward this book can be typified as name calling, "drivel", "garbage", without any logical or coherent argument. Where exactly is Ann wrong? What facts are in error? What approach has been twisted to give it that "evil conservative slant"? This negative criticism, in fact, validates the premise of the book.
Rating: Summary: More lies, more slander Review: Ann Coulter has indeed topped herself: this book contains more lies, more slander, more hatred against anyone who does not believe that Muslims should be forcibly converted to Christianity (as Coulter once famously said should be done) than any other book on the market. This woman is curdled, so sour from years of hatred and distorting facts that she is the literary equivalent of sour milk.
Rating: Summary: Liberal Myths: Another one bites the dust Review: That liberals were and remain wrong on all aspects of foreign policy will come as no surprise to anyone not "embedded" in the editorial pages of the NY Times. The primary values of Ann's book are; 1) a succinct reminder of the litany of liberal failure, 2) the factual data you need to be confident in any debate, 3) the sheer entertainment of Ann Coulter's acerbic wit. If you aren't sure whether or not she's touched a nerve just check out the review from "Leni" elsewhere on this site. It will be fun if Ann continues writing and takes apart the fantasy, fallacy and failings of liberal economic, welfare and environmental policies. Go Ann!
Rating: Summary: Good Book -- But Wear a Helmet Review: Coulter is the number one conservative grenade-thrower. Excellent book. There has not been enough popular commentary on so-called "McCarthyism" (hint: McCarthy was right) in light of the 1995 publication of the Venona Project (hint: the Roosevelt and Truman administrations were infested with Soviet sympathizers). Coulter is developing a style that makes even conservative readers wince. She is the conservative Michael Moore. Just as Moore says things like "Conservatives are racist" to shock and satire, Coulter uses this same motif in labelling liberals (even all liberals) as traitors, Soviet-lovers, etc. Read the book with this in mind, and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: This should be a high school history book. Review: This is beyond a doubt the most refreshing expose of the truth about liberals ever written. I ended the book wishing I had been an adult during the McCarthy days so as to know the truth of the day first hand. Lucky for all of us we have Ann Coulter to enlighten us with the real truth of what took place. Unfortunately, those who need to read this book most won't. Instead they will buy Hillary Clinton's book and only add fuel to the lies Ann is trying to expose.
Rating: Summary: An interesting Book and an interesting comparison Review: Ann Coulter's book is taking off and ZOOOMING past Hillary Clinton's "Living History". While Hillary's book had excellent publicity and an increadible run at first it has plummeted to #7 while Treason was # 1 and now 2nd only to the new Harry Potter book. What does this tell us? Is America beggining to lean to the right? Are we as a nation beggining to realize that the far left is equally as bad as the far right? I think this is an indication that the democrats will have a rough ride in the presidential elections and if the congressional results are any indication, they will be out of power for quite a while.
Rating: Summary: a screed of nonsense Review: Watching and reading Ann Coulter is equivalent to sitting in a room with someone running their nails across a blackboard. Oh so irritating. It is disheartening to have to contend with such extremism and bias coupled with the deification of McCarthyism. Coulter's words only serve to prove the point that second tier fame does not prevent you from believing one's own drivvle. Sadly there are those who will take this diatribe as total truth and use it to further desecrate the fabric of our society and culture. I'm only surprised that the book didn't include a copy of the petition to recall Governor Davis. Ann should spend her time dealing with truth and reality and not portray herself as the ultimate "party" girl!
Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: She hits it right on the nail. If you want to know what is actually going on and who you can trust in politics you must read this.
