Summary: Has she no sense of decency?
Review: ...P>"Liberals are fanatical liars, then as now. Everything you think you know about McCarthy is a hegemonic lie," she says. "Liberals denounced McCarthy because they were afraid of getting caught, so they fought back like animals," she opines.

Poppycock, say I.

In January of 1954, in what the first televised hearings in American history, McCarthy obliquely attacked President Eisenhower for being soft on Communism and directly accused Secretary of the Army Robert Stevens of knowingly aiding the spread of Communism in the US Government. The public watched McCarthy in action and found his bullying, harassing tactics abhorrent. McCarthy did not produce hard evidence of his accusations, just word of mouth and implication. His support among people who had thought he was "right" on communism began to evaporate. Americans regained their senses, and the Red Scare finally began to wane. By the end of the year, the Republican Senate decided that its own honor could no longer put up with McCarthy's abuse of his legislative powers, and it censured him in December by a vote of 65 to 22. His power finally broken, he was exposed to the country as the hate-filled, power-hungry pocket dictator he was.

This is the guy that Ann Coulter looks up to. After reading her words, I'm not surprised. One of the things I find most interesting about Coulter is the odd juxtaposition of her coltishly attractive exterior with the vitriol and demagoguery lurking inside; sort of like opening a lovely music box only to find it full of spiders.

I felt the urgent need to take a long, hot shower after putting this book down.

Summary: Unfortunate
Review: The title itself is misleading: his book doesn't take us from the cold war to the war on terrorism, really. It is more interested in revivifying Joe McCarthy--a figure and a period I think we could better live without. Who engages in treason? One is left to wonder at the end of the book...the question has not been answered, excepting some notable communists like the Rosenbergs. I am sure Ms Coulter has some amazing talents--her breath control on talk shows alone is one of them, and it could perhaps win her a bevvy of breath-holding contests--but revisionist historicism is not attractive from any political ideology.

Nonetheless, it is good that Ms. Coulter misleads her reders so directly with her book's front cover: in her last book, one had to actually begin page one before arriving at the first misstatement.

Summary: Ford was right, History IS Bunk!
Review: Some people have dismissed this book as a work of fiction. They're the ones this book is talking about. Unlike the recent works of a noted LIBERAL (who I won't name, out of common decency), this book is not only informative, it backs up its facts with source material, research, and basic facts.
I read this book out of curiosity, believing that a book titled "Treason" on Liberals would be a cry from the far right so extreme as to be laughable.
I was wrong.
With documented facts, footnotes, and an extensive mountain of research, Ann Coulter has laid the basic facts bare for all to see. Liberals have consistently and efficiently defied reason, common sense, and flat out lied over the years.
All the American History I learned in school is called into extreme question. I was taught that McCarthy was a bully who used a cry of "Communist" to silence his political opponents. What they did not tell me in school, what I did not even hear on the six o' clock news, was that declassified Soviet documents proved that almost everyone McCarthy named was, in fact, on the Soviet payroll.
They told us that containment won the Cold War. They did not point out, President by President how much ground the Soviets gained (and usually when a Democrat was President). They did not tell us how Reagan won the Cold War by not backing down from his foes.
I urge you to read this book...

Summary: A Right-Wing puppet!
Review: In a time when America needs to work together, especially when we went to war based on lies and fear, here comes Ann Coulter with her devisive lies and hate spreading. She is only in this to make money....her books are filled with footnotes that only back up the fact that her books are mostly made up and self-serving....no repectable American should listen to or support her - I read her book in the library because hell will freeze before I support a hate-mongering Shrub loving cow like her!

Summary: Scary and sick
Review: This is a badly written book, one that takes a serious subject matter and argues its case in a very two-dimensional, simplistic unthinking, programmed and propagandastic manner. Neither conservatives nor liberals -- or any Americans in general - are well-served by a book written in this fashion - like the mad-ravings of a high school bully. A missed opportunity to say something important and valuable. It could have been a lot more fair and balanced - and still made its points with validity (sans mouth-frothing anger and bile...)

Summary: Good...Bad....Who Cares....These are the facts...
Review: Ann uses facts to support an argument that the liberal left has been undermining the USA for decades. She doesn't use emotion, conjecture, or speculation. She uses facts (exactly how facts are considered whining is beyond me). This makes lefties crazy. Leftist arguments are characteristically made up of slogans and emotional fervor. This book really shows how dangerous the liberal movement has been and still is today. Scary stuff but important to be made public in a clear, concise manner as Ann has done here. Thanks Ann for clearing things up!!

Summary: Coulter Does It Again!
Review: Ann Coulter, the author of the New York Times best-seller Slander, does it again with her newly released Treason. Who cares about Harry Potter and Hillary when Ann Coulter has a new book released! Treason, much as Slander did, thoroughly and factually documents the post-WWII history of liberal treachery against the United States. With all the style and splendor of Slander, Ann Coulter illustrates her groundbreaking new look on America's Cold War history without the bias and misconceptions of the liberal elite. Coulter's new book is a must read for any American who looks for the truth while culling through the propaganda and lies of the liberals. You'll be shocked and outraged when you read the tangible, indisputable, and especially little known facts about the positions and actions of liberals during every major foreign policy issue since World War II. Buy it now!

Summary: Truth, a Liberal's worst nightmare
Review: "Treason" exposes the truth about the left and their anti-American agenda. Liberals can attack the author all they like, but the facts in "Treason" remain just that, facts. As far as the negative reviews of this book are concerned, I pose this question: When did liberals find time to read "Treason" anyway, in between reading "books" on cats and diets?

Summary: McCarthy was a hero? Where have *you* been?
Review: Anyone who attempts to portray Senator "Tail-Gunner Joe" McCarthy as a hero in the fight against Communism is either too young to have lived through a very embarrassing period in recent American history or on an entirely different planet from the rest of us. They also would probably try to convince you that the Holocaust never happened. All that was necessary to demolish McCarthy's "Reign of Error" and character assasination was to bring television cameras into his hearing room and let the American public see first-hand what he was doing to our Constitution. No "Liberal Bias", no "Left-wing Conspiracy" was needed or provided; just the bright light of public attention shining into a very dark corner of our nation's fears and psyche. We were all able to see for ourselves the great harm that McCarthy was wreaking on the Bill of Rights. By his actions and his actions alone, McCarthy caused his own downfall. I know this. I was there. I saw it for myself. BTW, we now know that the Senator interviewed his subjects privately before letting them appear before his House UnAmerican Activities Committee (HUAC)...

Summary: So far so good!
Review: ...I can't wait for any debates she may do with regards to this book.

Simply put, her writing includes big words, but her style is very predictable. Put out the liberal myth, give reliable quotes, and add in her own invective comments.

Being a younger avid reader of hers, she has done a great service with this book. "Slander" did not need the present day comparisons as most can remember all of the topics she addressed. "Treason" though needed the present day comparison and she has not disappointed. Proving that I've been reading the book, pages 40-43 provide a present day comparison. It is really frightening. If you have any qualms about buying this book, I suggest you go read those pages as a sample.

So far in this book she has successfully showed that the liberals of the 50s were one of three things:
1. Complete idiots
2. The greatest appeasers of 'Uncle Joe'
3. Never to be trusted with the presidency until they can truly recognize the evils of our world and step up and denounce these evils.

I can't wait to get to the present day appeasers. As I said, go read pages 40-43 and that will get you off the fence one way or the other.
