Rating: Summary: Spend your $$$ on Harry Potter if you want quality fantasy Review: Ann would like to topple Hillary Clinton's perch, but this "work" is so implausible, inaccurate, self-indulgent, and long-winded that it had me aching for G. Gordon Liddy's old commentaries for something conservative, yet digestible. The rhetoric spewed in this simply-written diatribe reminds one more of Goebbels than of a sound political analyst. At least O'Reilly appears to speak from a platform of educated scrutiny, not a shrill cry for attention by spinning tall tales. I managed to get through this book in one reading, but not without a lot of head-shaking and several smirks. Coulter's from CORNELL? The college, right? Thanks for the laughs, Ann....but readers are best advised to save their money for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" if they want quality fantasy. Yes, you're cuter to look at than Limbaugh, but I'll settle for Gingrich's observations for their substance. Heck -- Hillary Clinton's too, for that matter.
Rating: Summary: Love her or hate her, she has a point. Review: Ann Coulter's latest book, "Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism" has a very important point: that liberals sided with this country's enemies in the Cold War rather than side with their domestic political opponents, the (conservative) Republicans. It's amazing to me that for almost half a decade that any American would make such a choice, but as Ann details, the choice as viewed by liberals was not one of an enemy over their country, but rather a similarly-minded foreign power over a domestic enemy. This is why Republicans failed to grasp the nature and extent of liberal opposition during the Cold War. With few exceptions, the liberals chose to ally themselves with someone they felt would further the cause of socialism (or as it is called in this country, "liberalism"). The true depth of this course of action has gone unnoticed both in the media and the classroom. Our history is not one of noting that Harry Truman offered to give Stalin a "rebuttal" in response to Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech, but one of itemizing the excesses of the conservative side only. Ann makes a very important point, and does a good job of supporting it, but fails to concede that McCarthy was vilified as much for HOW he tried to expose Communism and Socialism for the threat they were as for what he believed in.
Rating: Summary: Bad! (and not in the good way) Review: Coulter has weak arguments and not a whole lot to back them up. I'm a conservative and even I can recognize that this author couldn't argue or debate her way out of a wet paper bag. If someone's going to present the conservative point of view we need someone who can rise above the level of the talk radio and present some credible arguements. She does the conservative movement a disservice by making us look like humorless idiots.
Rating: Summary: Save Your Money Review: Just when I think Ann Coulter cannot possibly get anymore ridiculous...she does. In this book, she champions Joe McCarthy. There are too many good books out there to waste your money on this poorly-written rant by a woman whose books are based on few facts and even fewer reliable sources.
Rating: Summary: Oh my, what an interesting time we live in! Review: Can we imagine two books released in the same month more polar opposites and creating more powerful responses from each other's constituents??!! Ignore the reviews (they're pretty much fan mail)and read both Treason AND Living History. The constrasts are mind blowing. The first is pure meaningful substance delivered with laser sharpness and total courage. The second is, is, is... I'm not sure how to describe it... not anything particularly meaningful, and almost totally safe. The first attempts to influence your opinion by challenging your brain. The author (Ann)doesn't seem to care if you like her or not. In fact at times she seems to go out of her way to help you not like her! The second trys to influence your opinion by presenting Hillary the way she wants you to "feel" about her. She really, really, REALLY wants you to like her. Its excrutiatingly obvious Ann is the author of her book. Who else would have the guts to say the things she says? (And its pretty obvious some kind of a focus group wrote Hillary's.) Ann's book is ground breaking - I've never heard or seen a word of support for Tail Gunner Joe before now - but if you are intelectually honest, if you allow yourself a little bit of objectivity, you know there is a good deal of truth backing her up. And of course Ann is a "liberal-baiter". Very entertaining reading. Really makes you stop and think. If you lean to the right you will love this book. If you lean to the left you will end up foaming, raving, barking mad if you dare buy this book. If you are independent, objective and can think for yourself I expect you'll find the book entertaining, a little over the top, and very well documented. Its hard to conclude that the liberal's reaction to Ann (rabid emotional invective) is other than a clear sign that truth can hurt. Ann Coulter is unique and very, very good at what she does.
Rating: Summary: Give it 5 stars just for the writing style Review: Like my father use to say 'It's a bad day if you don't learn something new'. If you read Ann's book, aside from the factuals of it, it's a way to learn new words. Some I had to look up in the dictionary, which is a good thing. See how history can be twisted. We wonder how Islam is teaching their view of history...and here we can see how liberals have warped the preception of the Cold War and their part in it.
Rating: Summary: The High Priestess of the Painful Truth Review: Ann Coulter clearly demonstrates, if the average American throughout the past fifty years had been given a media voice we would not be in the political, social, or military climate that we have today. Ann's book CLEARLY outlines the Democratic conspiracy to join hands with the Communists over the past half century and the means with which they have attempted and continue to do so. This book ought to put the nail in the coffin of the Democratic Party. If this doesn't wake up the country to the Liberal's efforts to form a New World Order by means of the Communist Manifesto - our country's foundation will crumble. You don't have to tow the "conservative" party line to agree with the conclusions Ann draws in "Treason." The Liberals in this country certainly deserve the title, "Traitor." Coulter's references cannot be refuted. They are not taken out of context. Any historian worth their salt must admit that if they don't like this book, it is because they hold to Communism in their heart. After reading this book, you will discover whether or not you are a real American.
Rating: Summary: ridiculous Review: somebody needs to tell this woman that the founding fathers of the good ol' US of A were liberal traitors.
Rating: Summary: First as tragedy, now as farce Review: The latest offering of recycled McCarthyism from the Anna Kournikova of the far right. For true believers and the intellectually dishonest only.
Rating: Summary: Good Replacement for Firewood Review: Coulter's diatribes are getting tiresome. Do the American people really believe in her hate-filled fantasies? I guess all the right-wing Americans need something or someone to justify their prejudices and bigotry.
