Rating: Summary: Some other titles I think also would have worked... Review: Brain Droppings is good, but after reading the book I was inspired to come up with some alternate titles: Cerebral Hemorrhages, Intellectual Fallout, Grey Matter Dribblings, Witty Trickles, Noggin Discharges, Head Givings, Noodle Drips, Well Thought Out Dismissals, Intelligent Passings, Mental Handouts, and the list goes on! Thank you George for telling it like it is, or should be!
Rating: Summary: Acerbic Vit from an American Icon Review: George Carlin has always been my favorite stand up comedian. I remember the first time I saw a Carlin HBO special when I was a mere lad of 12. I remember hours spent trying to memorize routines from his albums like Class Clown and Occupation: Foole. When all the other comedians took the easy out and became tv stars and movie actors, Carlin stayed the course of stand up and emerged as one of, if not, the all time best stand up comic. Brain Droppings is a true delight because the written word gives one a new appreciation for Carlins mastery of the English language. He could have been a poet or a great fiction writer. I would rank Carlin as one of the great satirist in American history in addition to being a great stand up comic. Mark Twain surely would grant an approving nod at this collection. It offers a wide range of material both old and new. It also restates his influence on my own writing. Carlin will never be in my list of people I could do without.
Rating: Summary: F--- the Middle Class! Screw sports fans! Review: Great book and if you agree with my review title you will also love this book as much as I do. Sports fans, yuppies and people "trying to amount to something" need not apply....
Rating: Summary: Must be the delivery... Review: It must be his delivery, because this book just isn't funny. Bought it for a long plane trip and after a few pages it just made the trip seem longer.
Rating: Summary: HILARIOUS!! Review: This book was absolutely hilarious! i couldn't put it down. All his quotes and thoughts were, for the most part, true to life. It is a funny book for adults or teens to read. If you like George Carlin then this book is a must read!1
Rating: Summary: You'll howl till you pee your pants Review: I read this book, and I hollered, I rolled, I laughed my ass off. He's not only funny, but he makes a lot of great points, and he speaks the truth just as often. I reccommend everyone to read this book. It will keep you sane when all else fails.
Rating: Summary: Carlin is my God and Brain Droppings my bible. Review: this has to be the funniest book i have ever read. It's right up there with Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. Those who call his work Tasteless and offensive are probably just a bunch of those yuppie, narcissistic, baby-boomers with me and Carlin alike hold ALOT of hatred for. To the average reader, this book would be just another funny man's book. Believe me, George Carlin is one of the smartest people around. Every one of his opinions make absolute sense to me(excluding his take on abortion). If you want to laugh quite a bit, buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Its an awesomely funny book Review: its a great book..if you're offended then you probably aren't a fan so why even review? a real carlin fan will find this book very very funny :) its carlin
Rating: Summary: Very funny but..... Review: I have liked Geogre Carlin's comedy since the beginning. His book had me laughing so much I thought I was going to die. However some parts of the book really disappointed me. Example: "F*** the middle class" He just said that in the book, not why or any reasoning at all. Second example he writes "Satan is cool" in bold print. Why is he cool? No reason. Why even bother to make a statement like that? Is that suppose to be funny? He does make some wonderful sense on some issues like the way we use words. Being from NY like Carlin I can appreciate his humor, however the book is flawed with these kind of statements. It's a good read with some diappointments.
Rating: Summary: Very thoughtful (not meaning nice; meaning mental activity) Review: Carlin's humor is tastless and offensive. :
