Summary: Travis nearly killed me
Review: Travis, the character that finds the dog, nearly killed me. After reading that everyone that gets to know him dies horribly, I decided it is best to stay away from him. Besides, his traumas grew humorous as they piled dead-body on dead-body.Maybe I am too fearful, but reading about him made me scared I too might get jinxed.

Review: Watchers was the first Koontz book I read, except for his Ace Double SF book published in the 60s, which I still have). This book impressed me so much that I started buying all of his books in hardback, something I had not done with any author until this book. It is one of his best and is equally loved by men, women, older children, and most smarter dogs. Don't miss it.

Summary: Watchers is my favorite book
Review: This book has been part of my life for the last 14 years ever since it was published. I have found no other that even comes close to exploring the emotions shown in this novel. The characters are vivid and the way they interact with each other. It also goes into great detail the horrors and joys life bring and that no matter how evil and horrible a person or creature can be, it shows that compassion and pity and a sense of goodness can shine through. This is the one book that I wish I could see adapted to a full length motion picture(it was adapted horribly), with all the characters and the complete story. I highly recomend this book to anyone who is a fan of the surreal and the possibilies that are encompassed in todays advancing technnologies. Dean Koontz has written a novel of such a terrifying possibility and one of great compassion. This is his best.

Review: Now, I first picked up the book because I'm a sucker for cute dogs. Imagine my surprise to find out that the rest of the characters and plot were intriguing as well! My three all-time favorite Koontz books are Strangers, Watchers, and Lightning.

Summary: An amazing book on many levels, but....
Review: It's seems I'll be breaking a trend with this review, but it's my honest opinion that this is not in actuality Mr. Koontz's finest work. Well, I suppose it depends on what it is that you are looking to get from the book. I would humbly argue that "Fear Nothing" was a more compelling read in that it further stretched my imagination and left me with a more profound sense of wonderment. For weeks after I had finished it I was still left with a sense that there is the potential for amazing things that are beyond my knowing... Anyhow, I did thoroughly enjoy "Watchers" but I am far from believing (as many of the other reviewers seem to do) that it is worthy as being forementioned as a classic. The book is strongest in the development of it's characters. You will undoubtedly come to love Travis, Nora, and inevitably most deeply of all, Einstein. Koontz seems to have the innate ability to give the characters a tangible sense of depth that transcends the limitations of print. You may even come to find yourself identifying with the characters, searching yourself for ways in which you are alike. Not all is perfect, however. The book lacks any real intriguing plot twists; the basic manner in which the book will end can be guessed well before finishing the first half of it's 500 some odd pages. And suspense you ask? Well, the first 10 pages are by far the most well written and suspenseful of the novel. Also, I thought too much time was spent probing the character of Lemuel Johnson. In the end the relationships between Einstein, Travis, and Nora are what made this book, period. There is some suspense but if you're looking for a "page-turner" I think you'll be dissapointed. And I guess it is always interesting to read a book that takes place in your own backyard.

Summary: A mighty fine book
Review: Ok, first off I noticed some people actually rated this book poorly. Now this is completely nuts because anyone who read the book and has any bit of an imagination was grabbed on the first few pages and not released until the very end. I hated reading with a purple passion, first time I read this book I was skipping a class in school sitting in the library about to take a nap. I heard a girl I knew talking about how she liked this author so I went and looked up Watchers since I was bored out of my mind. Since that day I think I can say I own just about every book Dean Koontz has written except for some he did under pet names. Watchers changed my views and made me realize just how entertaining a good book could be. Awesome book, great characters! here's a final note............. - (...)

Review: this is a wonderful story for horror fans and animal lovers alike.he has so thoughtfully developed the characters that you will even cry for the evil one....i have never been so completely engrossed in a book in my life....and to be honest i have read many books since this one....but watchers set a standard with me and nothing else has even touched it....it is a must read even for people who aren't into horror/thriller/suspense....it is amazing

Summary: Koontz is the best out there
Review: Koontz is the best story writter I have seen, this book in particular caught my eye.The story line kept me on the edge of my seat, I couldn't put the book down. The movie was ok, but it didn't follow the book, in the movie it said that Travis was a 16 year old boy when in fact he was in his 40's in the book. Koontz's books are the only book I'll read now, I have most of his books and I can honestly say "Dean Koontz is the best out there!"

Review: This book is bad. The monster is stupid and really the book doesn't have much of a plot-at least not the type of plot that someone with an IQ in at least double figures can appreciate. Koontz doesn't know how to weave myth into his stories.

Review: Plain and simple... This was one of my favorite books. Most people who know of Dean Koontz have already read this one and know what it is about. I enjoyed reading this book very much, it had a plot that held me captivated. There was something about the dog and beast that reminded me a lot of the far removed fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast". This was a very well done novel and deserves all the praise it can get.
