Rating: Summary: adventures beyond the body Review: A fascinating book that I found hard to put down. A little repetitive but the matter of fact advice that we are all capable of having an out of body experience really hooked me. I'm still practising, no luck as yet but I live in hope. This inspiring book could further open already open minds.
Rating: Summary: This AudioBook is AWESOME ! Review: A wealth of information and techniques in a clear, easy-to-understand format.
Rating: Summary: Concise and Inspiring Review: Adventures Beyond the Body is an excellent book for anybody who wishes to obtain information about and/or induce an out of body experience (OBE). For anybody who possesses any inhibitions when it comes to OBEs, there is a FAQ present (along with other sections of the book) that can clear them up. The first section of this book would be an introduction given by William Buhlman (the author) himself. In the introduction, Buhlman explains how he got involved with OBEs. The details given relate to many people who are either curious about OBEs or disbelieve in them. The next section of the book would contain segments of a journal William Buhlman kept; documenting is OBEs. The journal entries are one of the most inspiring parts of the book. Anybody who reads the entries would find the details amazing. After covering the OBE journal, Buhlman goes into scientific information about OBEs. The scientific information about OBEs and the astral world is very concise and interesting. When the reader reaches the final chapters, he/she will be able to read some methods for inducing OBEs. The methods are split into the categories of: visualization, affirmations, dream conversion (using lucid dreams to leave the body), and hypnosis. Overall, Adventures Beyond the Body is a great book to read for anybody and it makes an excellent gift for friends and relatives who follow the New Age, which is why I give it five stars.
Rating: Summary: A definite must-read if you're interested Review: After reading the Denning&Phillips book on the same subject, I almost gave up on the idea. This book changed that. I enjoyed it very much and the terminology is *much* easier to understand. I can't believe anyone would be sorry for buying this book.
Rating: Summary: Interesting, but I'll pass Review: Based on years of astral projections the author outlines his theory of the universe as it compares to currently held scientific beliefs. He appears to have thought through the implications of out-of-body travel much more than most who do it, - attempting to fit it into a broader unified theory of the universe if you will. I gave it a whack and within two weeks I got to the "vibrational" state he describes, which immediately precedes leaving the body. This was quite bizarre in itself. I got the feeling that if I continued my efforts I would in fact be able to get out of my body during the next few attempts. But I stopped trying because of nagging concerns about the "wisdom" of leaving my body. Often times we are so concerned with whether we "can" do something that we don't consider whether we "should" do it. I wondered whether another spirit could occupy my body (with or without my knowledge)while I was out of it. Buhlman says that this can not occur and yet I found an account on the web written by an experienced astral projector in which this exact thing happened. Also, considering that astral projection is done while in a hynogogic state (between wake and sleep) the experience is much like a dream with elements of reality and fantasy woven together. I wondered what other things could occur. Just yesterday, quite by accident I came upon a news story at Salon Magazine about a man who was just convicted of murdering his small children while having an out-of-body experience. He claimed that during this experience he came under the control of an evil influence, but nonetheless took responsibility for his crimes and was sentenced to life in prison (he also attempted to kill his wife). Buhlman seems to ignore the good vs. evil paradigm, preferring to explain the astral plane as simply a spiritual, non-physical environment shaped by our own minds. However, various other accounts that I've read do acknowledge that there are both good and evil entities out there and you will encounter both if you make a practice of out-of-body travel. So ultimately I have concluded that OOB is real and you can get there with this book or other techniques, but that for me anyway it's not the right thing to do, for now anyway. I believe we're in these physical bodies to learn lessons and to experience physical life. We'll be out of them soon enough.
Rating: Summary: The Astral Travel Bible! Review: Being interested in the occult, life after death and related matters for years, and after wasting much time (and money) on at least a dozen other books about OOBE's, I finally found this brilliant work. Buhlman's descriptions are so easy to read....I felt as if one of my friends was sitting there teaching the subject to me, totally unlike many of the other pretentious, self-absorbed works that are available. You don't have to read the entire book to know that Buhlman is correct. Many of the initial phases of an OOBE will be so familiar to experiences that most people have already had that your doubts will be quickly dispelled. I cannot speak too highly of this book, and I can guarantee you that, if you follow the methods listed, this book will have a more profound effect upon you than anything else you've ever read.
Rating: Summary: How real are heaven and hell? Review: Buhlman gives great advice to anyone wanting to experience an OBE. The techniques he uses are more useful and less tedious than ones described in some How-To books. And believe me, if you are interested in making your own decisions about life after death, read this book and Robert Monroe's 'Ultimate Journey'. Evaluating and comparing the journeys of these two men will undoubtedly give a seeker of truth something to think about. Though their experiences were not identical (which one wouldn't expect), the similarities are amazing. Both books definitely make the point that thought is powerful and what you think does manifest into form. Be careful what you wish for!
Rating: Summary: Enlightening, Believable, Comprehensive! Review: By page 18 of this book I felt so much more aware of the possibilities of the universe- a sense of wonder, awe, and amazement filled me combined with greater and greater understanding of the universe. These feelings increased with every page I read. Buhlman's experiences confirmed my beliefs about the inner universe and vibrational states and helped me understand important steps to controlling OBE's. I can't wait to begin my travels! Thank you, Bill!
Rating: Summary: Algo nuevo y algo viejo...
Rating: Summary: An extremely eye opening view of the inner universes! Review: For those of you who are interested in a out of this world
adventure, hold on to your s0cks, its time to go for the ride
of your life! You will not have a greater understanding of who you are
till you have done some time TRAVELIN' (OOBE) through time and space with the angels.
The best way to take a trip without leaving the farm.
