Rating: Summary: Not afraid to question the powers that be. Review: This book is an amazing example of when a person takes it upon themselves to question what they see and hear in their everyday lives. Michael Moore, is not being a traitor or unpatriotic. He is doing what every citizen should be doing, because that is what this country was founded for in the first place. He's exercising his right to make sure that the best interests of the people of this country are not being taking advantage of by tyrants or warmongers. Excellent humorous reading that makes you think twice about just accepting what you are fed. They say ignorance is bliss; Michael Moore tries to show us that ignorance is just the opposite of that. Ignorance is dangerous.
Rating: Summary: What The Heck is Going On? Review: Basically, These reviews will not help anybody. Hardly any of them tell what the book is about, standing aside that the author is probably a democrat. The only way to see what this book is about is to read it, because all the reviews do is tell you that Mr. Moore is a brilliant god of life, or that he is one of the dumbest dirtbags that this planet has ever seen. Most of the reviewers who saw this book as a great book saw the bush administration as an idiotic, incapable group of morons that only care for themselves. One of the reviews in particular is a whole mess of crap that was probably dug up from the great bull himself and deposited among the millions who read his book review. He views the war in Iraq as a misguided attempt by the bush administration. Mr. Eyes And Ears is the one who is misguided. After all, The Bush adm. must be misguided if it wants to help millions of people who are under the reign of one of the worlds deadliest and most insane dictators, one who takes joy in torture and was raised by an uncle who's life was war. They must be misguided if they caught this pig ALIVE and at his capture the people of Iraq and countries surrounding it all rejoiced and danced out of joy. If you are a person who thinks that there government is misguided and corrupt, please move to Iraq and see the people rejoicing, or to a different country where you agree with the government (if you can find one). You are allowed your opinion on this state of affairs, but really should consider the facts before you judge. First, ask yourself why you are opposed to the war. Ask yourself why you live in America. Ask yourself why you think that a mass murdering psycho thousands of miles away is in the right. Ask yourself why you support or dont support the war. Ask yourself why you think this is a rich man's war if you do. How many of you were at ground zero when the planes struck the towers, and still believe that the war is wrong? Consider these things before you judge, and I believe that those of you who do not think this war is just will have a different opinion.
Rating: Summary: Not a viewpoint, BUT a revolting display of a Traitor!!! Review: People like this don't deserve to voice an opinion as with any traitorus person in our country...Having a different view point or a sensable debate is what America stands for which by coming from a free society " these " Haters don't respect or defend but rather to undermine this great nation with lies and deceet and trechery which is all this book is for!!! When our country finally stand against these inner " FOWS", then we will finally be able to stand together and not be devided as Michael Moore and people just like him are trying to do in voice and writings!
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable Review: What a bunch of lies from a huge tub of lard. Michael Moore wouldn't know the truth if it hit him in the 300lb stomach. It's truly sad that people buy such garbage. Don't waste your time. Instead read one of the fine books from Ann Coulter, Peggy Noonan or Sean Hannity.
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: this book is excellent, it's great to see someone who isn't afraid to speak their mind. the one thing i can't understand is how anyone would bash this book
Rating: Summary: More lies from Moore Review: Sometimes I also wonder where my country is when I see that this pack of lies has reached # 1 in the best-sellers list. With unsubstantiated theories, this raving pseudo-socialist idiot has managed to achieve the status of political genius among people even dumber than he is. Borrow it from the library (don't give this stupid white millionaire more money)if you really want to waste your time. It's not even funny.
Rating: Summary: Don't support this stupid white man with your money Review: I haven't read this book. I don't need to to give it one star. I've read and watched some of his other stuff, and have read a great deal about him, and can tell you there are more lies than truth in everything he says. For details, please visit either of the following two sites: http://www.mooreexposed.com/ http://www.spinsanity.org/columns/20031016.html And there are many other sites, trying to undo the damage Moore has done to honest political debate, and the Motion Picture Association has done by giving him an Oscar (gasp!)
Rating: Summary: Read Stupid White Men instead! Review: I usually like Moore's work. But, I found this book to be completely boring. Maybe as I struggled so early in the book (ch. 2 Home of the Whopper) to stay awake. To me it just seems like Mike rushed out a book so he could get his thoughts in on the Iraq War. Whether you agree with his politics or not, I do, that is what this book seems to me. Rushed. Do yourselves a favor and go read, or re-read, Stupid White Men instead. Just my humble opinion.
Rating: Summary: Let me review this in a slighltly different way... Review: 1) First read some of the positive reviews here on Michael Moore's book. Take a good sampling. Pay close attention to the vocabulary used, the logical structure of the arguments, and the degree to which these arguments are substantiated with empirical evidence. 2) Now go back to the New York Times list and click on the "Best Books" button. You will find a number of lists. Print out one of those and then come back to Amazon. 3) Then read some of the reviews given for a sampling of those books, again paying attention to those three criteria I mentioned above. Then draw your own conclusions. Frank
Rating: Summary: One of Michael Moore's Best Review: You have to take this book with a grain of salt. Very few people would agree with every point that Moore makes in this book (if you do you need to start thinking for yourself.) But, he does make some very good and strong points. I was very impressed with his documentation of his sources. If you doubt anything that he has said, you can go straight to the source. He has taken on some very serious subject matter in this book. However, it is Michael Moore's ability to point out the absolute absurdity of the truth that makes this book so readable. He will have you laughing out loud. There were points in the book when I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, or scream. In all, I think that this is one of Michael Moore's strongest pieces of work. There is a sense of urgency in all of Moore's books and movies, but it is felt even more in this book. His other work has made me think, laugh, and question. "Dude, Where's My Country?" made me think, laugh, and question, but more importantly it then inspired me to act. If you are a fan of Michael Moore, fed up with President Bush and corporate America, or just want to be more informed, this book is a must read!
