Summary: A raw, edgy look at "regime change"
Review: With election year now in full swing, I'm sure a lot of people are going to be reading Michael Moore, if just to remind them of the way that the United States is going. Dude. Where's My Country, isn't a particularly compelling literary masterpiece and there are sections that a little repetitive, but I think the point is definitely made that the American government has been hijacked by special interest groups, and that a certain dangerous brand of religious conservatism is now inhabiting the White House. Moore makes some good points for regime change, and there is a hurried almost speedy tone to the book, as though Moore is saying that change must be now, otherwise it will be too late, and that the country will be branded with conservatism forever.

The debacle 2000 election, Bush's oil buddies, the immediate hours after 9/11 and the selling out to corporate interests are all handled with Moore's clever mixture of satire and factual detail. Now no one is safe, as corporate barons who have milked millions out of employees' lifetime savings, legislators who have stripped away America's civil liberties in the name of homeland security, and the inner circle of the Bush administration themselves are raked "over the proverbial coals."

As an outsider and as a temporary resident in America, I am always intrigued as to why this country does a lot of what it does. America is a country of extremes, and I think Moore's book reflects how polarized the American people are. And as someone who isn't an American and who comes from a country that, in some instances is more socially liberal than here, I could really empathize with a lot of what Michael Moore is saying. The United States government spends far too much time on issues of morality, rather than actually governing the country and doing what is right for middle-class people. Moore's picture of America - the way he wants it to be reflects many of the attributes of my home country; certain egalitarianism, healthcare for all its citizens and a fairness and justice for all no matter what your ethnic, economic situation, or sexual orientation may be.

Dude. Where's my country as a piece of literature is a little raw and underdeveloped, but it does do a good job of exposing government corruption and deceit. There's a pomposity, passion and anger in this book, and anger, which could also be interpreted as a plea for help.

Review: finally someone has exposed the truth behind the war. This is a great book that exposes the lies that have been fed to the American people by their own president and its media. This book is definately worth reading and if you enjoy this, you should check out other books and films by Michael Moore.

Summary: Terrific book
Review: I do not understand how closed off many Americans are. Many people believe that Michael Moore is anti-American because he's publishing books based on the faults that make up the "Current America". Michael Moore would not publish false ideals because he's not a jerk and would not want the crown of one; he's a very honest man who goes through great lengths to bring us the information that, ironically, any average Americna can get.
His style of writing is basically like essay writing, so it's interestingly fresh, and his ways of thinking are truly marvelous.

Summary: It's funny 'cause it's true
Review: Moore's hilarious perspective is from the same latitude as most of the world: Bush has got to go - sooner than later! I can't believe that this guy is still in office! With his uncompromising position, Michael Moore has taken what we were all thinking and put it between two covers. His take on the "war" alone is worth the price.

Summary: Fiction
Review: I rate it one because zero wasn't one of the choices.A more appropriate title would be "Dude, Where's My Pride?"

Summary: Original and good
Review: This book is both original and good. The part that is original is not good, and that part that is good is not original. This is a plagarized book.

Summary: what we were all thinking
Review: Michael moore has wrote and published all the questions that we were thinking just didn't have the voice to ask. He continues to push the boundries and make new ones. In this book it is same old Michael Moore just new issues. If you are a fan this book will not leave you dissapointed. What it will do is make you beg for more.

Summary: A Bit Uneven...
Review: I eagerly awaited Michael Moore's new book, 'Dude, Where's My Country,' being a fan of his movie, 'Bowling for Columbine,' and his previous book, 'Stupid White Men.' Prior to 9/11, I cared little for politics, but that event galvanized me and solidified my already liberal leanings. So, obviously, I dove right in and read his new book in little over an hour. It didn't really amaze me. Maybe it was because I had heard all of his opinions and arguments several times over by other progressive authors like CommonDreams or Antiwar, etc, etc. Maybe it was because I didn't find the book funny in the least. Maybe it was because I found it uneven in several places, such as Moore's fervent telling of a Saudi Arabian conspiracy on 9/11, yet does not even mention the possibility of an Israeli conspiracy (which could have been quite possible), chickening out so to speak by people who may have branded him an anti-semitic or whatever the public calls you nowadays if you're critical towards Israel. But then he calls himself progressive and says he's laying out all options on the table before us! Come off it! I'm not that stupid. Plus, his book is rife with historical inaccuracies, dates and facts that I knew were wrong at first glance, especially the date of the crash of EgyptAir flight 990 in 1999. Doesn't he have people to check this information for him? I became even more disgusted with the book after doing a search on 'Bowling for Columbine,' and finding that it too, was rife with error and manipulated the viewer. There are sites that attest to this, even those that agree with Moore's politics. So my advice is, take this book with a grain of salt and enjoy it for its satire and liberal stance, but nothing else.

Summary: The Election Primer for Common Folks
Review: Simply put, this book is an easy read and gives all readers, regardless of background, a way to understand what has been happening in our country. I applaud MM. I have recommended this book to dozens of people. I've considered buying five copies to lend to friends here in Kansas who claim they don't know what to do or how to get involved.

Summary: A good book, not the bible, yet good none the less.
Review: I'll start off by saying yes I'm a liberal, yes I'm even a liberal from California, but I do not think Moore is the greatest thing ever, and i think sometimes he goes for the quick joke to grab out attention, and get over-preachy, yet the man is very insightful, and does good work. It's also interesting Moore isn't as hrdcore-lefty as people would like to say, he just endorsed Wesley Clark.
Anyways onto the book, filled with several interesting ideas and thoughts Moore's book presents an interesting look at America today through the eyes of a liberal. Moore uses humor, as a way of making people think, if this were a political commentary like John McKnight's "The Careless Society" the rating would be lower. With today's society, humor is needed to keep people interested. Moore also has interesting fact, on reviewer failed to mention a whole chapter citing specific evidence on the liberal bias of the people of AMERICA yes that's right we are the most liberal country on earth, but we are propelled by several competing forces and ideas, intot hinking we are conservitive. Well, if you want to think, or laugh, or need a good book, i would suggest this, this is no way a bible, but just a tool to make you think.
