Rating: Summary: The narrow-minded will never get it Review: Reading what that person said about ETA makes me want to get sick all over his narrow-minded features. His view is that ETA attacked Spain for no reason as if Spanish death squads were not putting bullet holes in Basque adults and children to keep them under control in the North. I guess it is okay for the Spanish government to sanction murder on the streets (Guernica) but not okay for some Basque rebels to hit back? The Spanish government should be lucky to see an end to the violence. The arrogance of little peeved waa-waa pepe wanting ETA to now fully disarm after years of resistance should also be met by the Spanish defense forces doing the same thing. Care to disarm YOUR force in the North and at home pepe-wepe?It is not even on the table is it? What are you going to do with the thousands of dead Basque victims murdered at the hands of the Spanish army? Hide them behind the couch? The concession has been made by Batasuna so face up to your job boy and move on. It is narrow-minded people like this that cause terrorism to continue. Thank God that Michael Moore would snubb him down for making those kind of comments.
Rating: Summary: Truth stings a little! Review: This book simply hits the nail on the head. It's hard for some to accept but it is simply very real. As for proofs to Moores research as some reviewers asked, it's all there, just look at the bottom of the pages throughout the book where Moore clearly lists his sources. I find it odd that most if not all negative reviews listed here were written by republicans. This book asks some hard questions but they are questions that were long overdue to be asked. Not to be missed!!!!! Bravo Michael Moore!
Rating: Summary: Same Old Stuff... Review: My, my isn't Michael Moore funny? Just ask him. This is the same guy who thought the loud boos he received at the Oscar awards was the majority of the audience "booing the booers." My, my isn't Michael Moore always right? Just ask him. He believes that everything is a conspiracy aimed at the majority of American's (most likely over 98 percent) who "think just like he does." My, my isn't Michael Moore brilliant? A quick read standing at the check-out line at Target will answer that for you. Then you can ditch the book under the Snickers bars and be on your way. Do yourself a favor, if you insist on, or have the stomach for reading this cover-to-cover, take it out of your local public library. Don't want to put any greedy capitalistic dollars in Michael Moore's pocket. It would upset him highly.
Rating: Summary: If you're gonna be the guy with the attitude, make it good.. Review: This book is, at points, very funny; at others, thought provoking. Do check the footnotes carefully - if you're actually interested in thinking about the issues Moore raises, the footnotes are more valuable than the Moore text itself. Like a guided tour through all the stuff that the media reported, but not very loudly...as for the book itself, what I think I liked about it was its positive, upbeat sort of tone. The news alone can be so depressing .. !! : )
Rating: Summary: great book for the out of touch Review: Moore is a complete idiot. Its really upsetting knowing there are more idiots like him buying this book. Why dont you people do some research about what is going on in the world today. No, you would rather just follow the ignorant like m.moore. Look at all the good moore did for w.clarke, moore's lies about Bush backfired.
Rating: Summary: Same tired rhetoric Review: Considering the amount of media coverage Moore gets, I assumed it was worthy. His "what, me petty?" attitude wore on me, and he lacked insight. He rails against all things corporate, successful, Republican, etc. I don't expect him to tear down his political party of choice, but his absolutist views came across as simpleton ramblings. It seems, ironically, he's in it for the quick cash that mocking people with cash seems to bring.
Rating: Summary: Mike had his chance... Review: I have read the first 50 or so pages, which are quite funny despite the inherent socialist leanings (not that Ann C. or Sean H. wouldn't balance the boat once they got on). I think my problem is that, while I will still read his works and watch his movies, he has turned himself into a straw man. He had his chance to prove he was out against "Chief Executives who abused/neglected what power they had" with President Clinton, yet Mike defended him with all of his power. Does anyone know that Clinton hired Ken Starr and could have fired him at any time? Does anyone remember that it was people hired by Moore who dressed and acted like Puritans when they chased and derided Ken (regardless of whether he deserved it or not)? The point is that Mike has become the subject of his own cause. He is a multi-millionare who rides in limos who espouses an all-powerfull government to have complete control over us (provided the "right" people are in charge), yet speaks out for "the common man" when specific injustices happen from a particular angle, even as he keeps on the weight, the shaggy beard and the ratty jeans jacket and baseball cap as the sterotypical "middle class" image to sell us on his "truthfullness" no differently than a televangelist cloaks themselves in white to show how "pure" they are. So when FARENHEIT 911 comes out, does anyone think Mike will begin with the 1993 bombings and end with the sequel in 2001? Probably not... <:(
Rating: Summary: Two of a kind Review: I know that Americans have a problem with the concept of irony, so here's a hint. The contribution below from Idaho ("DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!") is almost certainly an attempt at irony. The writer is a fully paid-up Moore fan, pretending to be a Coulter fan, pretending to be ... Aw, heck, now you're really confused. You voted against him because he only gave it 1 star, and now it turns out that he's an independent-minded, non-conformist liberal just like you. Or you voted for him, and it turns out that he's just another pinko. What should concern you, but doesn't, is the febrile political climate that makes gurus out of the likes of Moore and Coulter. They are two sides of the same coin. They are laughing all the way to the bank, but you go on paying them. Please! take them both with a sackful of salt. P.S. Einstein was a genius. Russell and Wittgenstein possibly were. Coulter and Moore aren't.
Rating: Summary: It's required reading here. Review: Very good book. The government has made it standard reading material. Helps the cause of the worker. Moore is quickly becoming a hero here.
Rating: Summary: Bull Review: If Moore's book is supported by 'solid research' as some readers pathetically believe, this review is worth a Nobel prize.
