Rating: Summary: highly recomended Review: Best yet, can't wait for next one
Rating: Summary: I have to admit it, I love Roland Review: This is a great book. I am Stephen King (and of course Roland's) biggest fan. His Dark Tower series capture me from the first paragraph till the end. I can't wait till the next one.
Rating: Summary: Interesting, but... Review: Too predictable. King foreshadows every event to the point of giving everything away. The ending was pretty lame and seemed like a last-minute bit thrown in to finish the story. Overall, it was much better than the first three books.
Rating: Summary: A necessary tale, that links up many scattered elements. Review: Stephen King probably dreaded this story because the problem of his tale, to begin with, was never fully outlined. So wizard and Glass helps tie up a lot of loose ends scattered about since The Wastelands. The "dreamquest" concept finally began to emerge to me after reading W&G. And another motivating factor that might enter Rolands quest comes to mind also. ( Perhaps someone might put the notion into the gunslingers mind, that he and Susan will be re-united after completing his quest.)The long-drawn out flashback part of the book reveals the depth of his relationship to Susan, in her being his soulmate. And that would be another juicy carrot-on-a-stick for Roland to blindly follow once he reaches the darkest realms yet to come. The dangerous thing is: Who is the SOURCE of whatever imagery, flashbacks, messages that Roland recieves? It could very well be a tool of Flagg, or the Crimson King, rather than the actual soul of Susan calling to him. And I also think we're going to see the mysterious man in black again. I don't think Roland can enter the Dark Tower without him.
Rating: Summary: I loved it!! Review: I have read all of the books in this wonderful series. I fell in love with the plots and characters the moment I opened this book til the last page. Wizard & Glass is a continuation of their adventures in finding the dark tower. If you like adventure, suspense, fantasy, then this is a must for you. You become a part of their group during their travels and you see their relationships mature. I can't express the thrill that the reader will receive once they have read this book.
Rating: Summary: Good but... Review: The wizard of oz part was lame, and the reappearance of the "tick-tock" man seemed like a hasty after-thought. King probably forgot that he left him alive in the third book and wanted to write him out as quickly as possible...
Rating: Summary: Fantasy may be King's new strength! Review: I've read almost every book published by Stephen King over the past 3 decades. His Horror/Thrillers have become stale and predictable in recent years and don't compare to his early offerings. BUT, *WOW*, his DARK TOWER series is mesmerizing! As a Fantasy fan, I'm amazed that King has moved so easily into writing a series in this genre! My greatest disappointment is that he seems to treat this superbly crafted series as a hobby and lets many years pass between new releases. The excitement fades somewhat as a result. C'mon Steve, this is a great story... maybe you have too many pokers in the fire... start focusing on getting this series out there to completion before starting your next project! Fantasy fans will thank you!
Rating: Summary: You and King would do better reading Harlequin Review: After reading three volumes, I had expected more than a meandering and largely aimless adventure tale. For king completists only. If you want to be really disappointed, read volume 4 Wizard and Glass. After barely working the plotline, we jump to 450 pages of a mediocre love story. King needs to read some Harlequin to get the basics down. I fell asleep several times, then skipped 400 pages back to the main plot. The main plot does a terrible send-up on Baum books, most notably the Wizard of Oz.Question:what do they wear when they throw away the ruby cowboy boots? beats me, King apparently is going to have them walk for 4 more volumes barefoot.
Rating: Summary: The man is a Genius! Review: i was on a cross country trip with my grandparents, and we listened to this. i loved it so much i went back to the begining of the series and started reading. King's imagination is limitless. This is a brilliant work.
Rating: Summary: King Finally Delivers the Pitch!! Review: How dare anyone complain about how long this book is..THE DARK TOWER series fans have waited beyond time for this book..672 pages was barely enough and I can't wait for more..More of the world of Beams, and the Guardians, and the Dark Tower..We're all on a mission.....
