Rating: Summary: Puedo hablar Espanol ! Review: I have been putting this off for years.... After several failed attempts to learn Spanish in a classroom setting I finally decided to make use of the many hours I spend in my car during the week. My car "trips" are relatively short (10-20 minutes), but several trips each day add up! I just keep the tape going... even when I feel distracted. When I'm actively engaged in the tape I stop it frequently to guess answers, or repeat Spanish sentences so that I can reinforce the new information and practice pronunciation. When I'm thinking about what I need to do tomorrow I just let the lesson go in one ear and out the other. I started learning how to make USEFUL conversation with tape one, and felt an IMMEDIATE sense of accomplishment. I haven't rushed this. I listen to each tape several times, trying to memorize as much as I can before moving on to the next tape. I'm now on Tape 3, side 2. The tapes repeat the nuts and bolts of prior lessons while adding new words and verb tenses. So, there is plenty of opportunity for review. The tapes are delivering EVERYTHING I had hoped for. I keep the accompanying book beside my bed - which has a transcript of each tape as well as lists of important words. I occasionally review what I have listened to that day. I find it helpful to actually "see" the words/spelling, but it is certainly not necessary. I am really appreciating the learning method utilized... I highly recommend Behind the Wheel Spanish!! Estoy feliz! (I just learned that tonight... forgive me if I didn't allow for the feminine form of the adjective.)
Rating: Summary: Very effective method. Review: I have thorougly enjoyed this audio series. I am not quite done, but the results have been very impressive. The method of learning used on the CDs is fast, easy and enjoyable. It's not perfect, however. There are several discrepencies and errors in the book. Dispite that, I would strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn the basics of the Spanish language quickly.
Rating: Summary: Perfect Car Spanish Course Review: I just had to take a minute to comment on the results I have gotten from Behind the Wheel Spanish. In a word, it is the PERFECT way to learn Spanish in the car. My reasons for thinking so are as follows:
1. Unlike Pimsleur, which has just one long tedious track,
Language Dynamics' Behind the Wheel Spanish has MULTIPLE TRACKS which make reviewing and moving forward a breeze while driving.
2. The course has a built in review system so that even if I don't get around to changing tracks, I know that the material is going to be reviewed and that I am sure to learn anyway.
3. The native speaker's voice (which is excellent) is ALWAYS repeated TWICE which gives me time to review and get the accent right, no matter what is going on in my car at the time (ie screaming kids, husband, in laws, etc ..).
The above points refer only to my opinion of the overall physical structure of the course and how it compliments the busy driver while learning to speak Spanish. I haven't mentioned the most important aspect of Behind the Wheel Spanish which is the unique and exceptional METHOD. It is so fast and easy that I was speaking basic Spanish sentences after my first commute.
Rating: Summary: Duplicate Product Review: I ordered this and Conversational Spanish (by the same author) for my husband for Christmas. We were quite upset to find out that these two products are the same. So, buy one or the other, but not both. Also, these CD's are directly copied from tapes, so the tape instructions, like rewind to repeat the sentence, don't work. Also, there are long silences where the tapes begin and end. The lessons are useful, but they aren't formated for CD's.
Rating: Summary: Don't make the same mistake I made Review: I purchased this course and learned a lot from it. I wanted to continue my lessons with another course from the same company so I purchased Conversational Spanish in Nothing Flat. When it arrived I started playing the first CD and to my shock, it was Behind the Wheel Spanish under a different name. I returnd this item and only received a 50% refund. So this mistake cost me almost $$$. So do not order this item if you have already purchased Conversational Spanish in Nothing Flat.
Rating: Summary: What a Great Car Spanish Course!!, Review: I really love my Behind the Wheel Spanish course. The native speaker always repeats everything twice so that I can get the accent right from the start.
The American instructor is clear in his explanations.
Unlike Pimsleur courses which have just one track so your stuck rewinding all the time, Behind the Wheel Spanish has multiple tracks which makes reviewing a breeze.
My results speak for themselves. I have learned to speak and understand a great deal of authentic Spanish in just a few hours a week. My biggest hurdle was getting started and finding the time. Learning 'Behind the Wheel' worked out great for me because I was already 'there' anyway. All I needed was a fast and easy to use course which was really effective. I found it and now so have you. I suggest you buy it and use it daily if you are really serious about learning to really speak and understand Spanish fast.
Rating: Summary: Behind the Wheel Spanish Review: I thought this set of tapes was terrible. It was not very professionally done, did not leave enough time between repetitions of phrases to repeat them and went through material too quickly. In theory, I suppose you are supposed to stop the tape to practice every minute or so which does not work when driving. I am not a beginner in Spanish and felt that this would not even be productive for a beginner.
Rating: Summary: Not CDs, won't play in PC without Hacking Review: Imagine my surprise when the CDs turned out to be a bunch of low quality CD-Rs. Imagine how much more surprised I was to discover that the CD-Rs had some kind of "copyright protection" scheme on them that makes them unplayable by computers.
If there is one thing I love in a product, it's being treated like a criminal for using my computer as a CD player.
As an added bonus, all the written materials refer to the tape version of the product.
Rating: Summary: Better Than 'Learn in Your Car Spanish' Review: Several months ago, for my birthday, I received 'Learn in Your Car Spanish' which didn't work for me and I later exchanged it (happily for me) for Behind the Wheel Spanish 1.
I couldn't be more pleased with the course, the method, the approach, and the fast and easy way I was able to learn to speak, understand, and even read and write Spanish.
In just two months I am now being touted as being 'semi-fluent' in Spanish (something I'm sure would never have been possible with other courses) and I have just purchased the sequel Behind the Wheel Spanish 2 to continue my voyage to fluency.
This method is exceptional. It is so natural that you really learn without the stress and hassle. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Escuedo Review: The cd's were great and the fast delivery was exellent! I've been learning spanish in a night school and it really didn't do as much for me as the cd's and book has! It is so easy to just sit in the car and think about speaking spanish because no one can hear you and you can say it as loud as you want which really helps.
