Rating: Summary: Chilling account Review: I had no idea why the White house was stonewalling the 9/11 commission. There is a lot of additional information in this book besides what has been covered by the news. Fascinating look at the White House. Very good to understand the White House's preoccupation with Iraq and how they got us into this mess. President Bush and his staff should just come clean and people would forgive them for making mistakes. Instead they seem unable to give a single inch.
Rating: Summary: Interesting Read Review: Beyond the book itself -- which is reasonably well written and an impressive peak into the inner workings of our current administration -- the fallout from Clarke's testimony is very interesting in itself. I have yet to hear a direct rebuttal to his allegations by somebody under oath. Attack him personally if you must, but at least attempt to respond to his thoughtful, reasoned, and disturbing allegations.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: Richard Clarke is a prophet and a martyr. Republicans are ignorant and shall be cast into the fiery depths of hell on judgment day.
Rating: Summary: Essential Reading Review: I learned a lot from this book, and you will too. I've also noticed that I pick up more of what's going on in the news; For instance, I'm more alert to reports from Pakistan, which I would've previously ignored.Clarke does a good job of describing people, agencies, and policies, including both their strengths and weaknesses. Some especially gripping reading includes the story of how the Clinton administration stopped a nest of Y2K attacks by al Qaeda from ever occurring. I read the whole book in four days, reading parts outloud to friends both via phone and in-person.
Rating: Summary: Tragedy and Politicians Lies Review: I wonder what it takes to make some people believe that Bush administration dropped the ball and then cost lives of our soldiers in Iraq. Does he have to be seen dining with Osama? Good book and scary too. Shows you how ignorant the administration was and how 100's of billions of dollars were waster in Iraq while we could have made major gains if we concentrated our efforts in actual fighting terrorism. Bush, you have blood on your hands.
Rating: Summary: an american hero Review: I have read only excerpts thus far. But Clark lets his word show that he is a man faithful and honorable in his service to his country. He cannot turn time back before 9-11 but he wishes us to know how and why it happened.
Rating: Summary: Surprise, Surprise! Bush and his administration are corrupt! Review: Well, what do you know, George Bush Jr. is corrupt! This book is really fascinating but the evidence presented should come as no surprise to anyone. George Bush Jr. is the most corrupt and dishonest president the United States has ever had. Period. This book presents more hard evidence proving what any American (who has been paying attention) should already have realized. Americans have lived with this criminal president for long enough to know what he and his administration are all about...deception. Mr. Clarke is above reproach and has secured his place in history as the man who finally brought America to its' senses. Bush is a liar and and will continue to lie to America until he is forced out of the White House.
Rating: Summary: Counterterrorism expert credible. Review: If anyone is in a position to know what really happened in the summer of 2001, it is this man. He has the experience, the expertise, and insider knowledge, and the credibility to speak to the failure of the Bush administration to prevent 9/11. This book is a watershed event in politics. It's a before and after. What we knew before, what we knew after. Also, the attempted crucification of Clarke by the Bush administration signals that they believe him to be an imminent threat to their continued existence. Here's a 30-year civil servant who served four presidents, three of whom were Republicans. He was good at his job, and he knows where all the bodies are buried. "Shake the trees" and "hair on fire" will be as ubiquitous as the Macarena by the time this episode concludes.
Rating: Summary: A storm in the White House, will more people follow? Review: After reading this book, i cant help but think Clark wont be the last to come forward and speak out about the Bush team. This admin is just damm scary. I felt the book let us peek into the walls and see what one persons view of the mess thats growing as i write this review. I feel Clark is not done, i think we will see another book. Thank you Mr Clark!
Rating: Summary: Yes it was a conspiracy and now we know!, Review: "George W. Bush is a liar. He has lied large and small, directly and by omission. He has mugged the truth-not merely in honest error, but deliberately, consistently, and repeatedly," David Corn; Washington editor for the Nation. "All American presidents have lied, but George W. Bush has relentlessly abused the truth. In this scathing indictment of the president and his inner circle, Clarke, reveals and examines the deceptions at the heart of the Bush presidency. In a stunning work Clarke details and substantiates the many times the Bush administration has knowingly and intentionally misled the American public to advance its own interests and agenda, including: * Brazenly mischaracterizing intelligence and resorting to deceptive arguments to whip up public support for war with Iraq. * Misrepresenting the provisions and effects of the president's supersized tax cuts * Offering misleading explanations- instead of telling the full truth - about the 9/11 attacks * Lying about connections to corporate crooks * Presenting deceptive and disingenuous claims to sell controversial policies on the environment, stem cell research, missile defense, Social Security, white-collar crime, abortion, energy, and other crucial issues * Running a truth-defying, down-and-dirty campaign during the 2000 presidential contest and recount drama * Presidential 'photo ops' like landing on a carrier, and saying 'I support our troops,' when in fact this administration has cut pay and allowances for service men and combatant soldiers. This president has not gone to a 'single' soldiers funeral and has cut substantial operating funds from the Veterans Administration. This book is not a partisan whine-it is instead a carefully constructed, fact-based account that clearly denotes how Bush has relied on deception-from the campaign trail to the Oval Office-to win political and policy battles BY ANY MEANS!" If you like conspiracy books Here are a few. Having read the TOP books in the Government Cover-up Genre; "Unconventional Flying Objects" (NASA UFO Investigator for 30 years) by the scientist Dr. Paul Hill; my FAVORITE is "Alien Rapture" by Brad Steiger and Edgar Fouche (Top Secret Black Programs Insider) - (Great fiction-soon to be a movie); "Alien Agenda" by the best selling author of 'Crossfire' Jim Marrs (Best reference on UFOlogy); and "The Day After Roswell," by Colonel Corso - I'd say these books are a MUST READ also!
