Rating: Summary: Well written & well-documented; 1-star reviewers are suspect Review: This is a competently, straight-forwardly written book by a high-level Presidential insider. It is remarkable to read all the one-star reviews here that aver that Mr. Clarke is either a) all wrong or b) has a secret agenda. Unless these reviews were written by Condi Rice or Dick Cheney, it's rather incredulous to believe one could have such insider knowledge of the inner workings of the executive office to accuse Clarke of being an equivocator. Perhaps, some of these one-star reviewers would provide their C.V's so we can honor their forthright and expert responses to the issues and events mentioned by Mr. Clarke, which have been have been corroborated under oath by numerous members of the executive intelligence community.
Rating: Summary: The Truth really does hurt. Funny... Review: anytime a book comes out bashing The Kennedy's, The Clinton's, Al Gore, Howard Dean, John Kerry or any democrat leader, those books, mostly trash that belong in the sewer are inundated with raving five star reviews and tons of helpful votes agreeing with the written word (opinionof the author)But anytime a book is written against Bush, even if it is based on truth and written by an insider..WHOA BABY..look at all of the 1 star reviews and turbulence on this board. If the truth hurts, too bad. FACE IT OR CHANGE POLITICAL PARTIES. This book is #1 at Amazon for a reason. Read it and find out.
Rating: Summary: I've actually bought and read the book Review: Mr. Clarke presents a very clear and straightforward chronology of terrorism-related activity and counteractivity during the Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II administrations. Mr. Clarke's positions as a counterterrorism expert in those administrations gave him a unique view of their approaches and reactions to terroristic threats and actions against the U.S. His syllogisms are easy to follow and this book will be very compelling reading to modern history enthusiasts.
Rating: Summary: Complete Worthless Drival Review: I must say, this is the biggest bunch of trash I have ever read. Clarke has donned a red cape and tights and pretends he should have been the savior. He gives Clinton's 8 years a complete pass, and placed the blame squarely on the president. The blame game is very disgusting; clarke is the worst offender thus far.
Rating: Summary: A look into the white house. Review: Absolutely loved this book. Clarke is very succinct in his criticism of white house policies. Since Clarke has always been a registered Republican, it's not really surprising that such individuals would attack his credibility. In this book, Clarke presented the evidence in such a fashion that his credibility should not even be an issue. I highly recommend that individuals buy this book and read it. None--liberal and conservative alike--should be remiss to do so.
Rating: Summary: The truth as it really is Review: If you truly love this country and are fed up with all of the lies and b.s., then you must read this book. I understand that Bill Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry and Howard Dean all strongly endorse this book as well. Bush must be defeated. Go democrats!
Rating: Summary: Pathetic freeping Review: It's pretty pathetic that radical ideologues who have not read the book and can't handle the truth stoop to sociopathological prevarication and slander. Freepers, your brief day is over and you will be demonized for your anti-American hate mongering and will be sent back under the rock from whence you slithered. Clark's book is a courageous telling of the truth that a criminal administration has attempted to hide behind faux patriotism and deomagoguery. This book should be required reading for all American citizens. Richard Clark is a true American Hero.
Rating: Summary: An Outstanding Book Review: This may very well be the most important book of the decade. Aside from the gripping subject it is also very well written. However it is the revelation of the contrast between the activity of the Clinton administration and the inattention of the Bush administration, and particularly of the President himself, that is most compelling. I can no recommend this book enough, particularly the riviting first chapter in which the events of 9/11 and 9/12 are related in detail and the second chapter that, in roughly 35 pages, gives an oveview of the roots of todays terror-filled world. Read this book. You will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: Credibility (a concerned citizen from Pennsylvania) Review: I have not yet read Mr. Clarke's book but I did see and hear his SWORN testimony before the 9/11 Commission. I found him credible. Now a member of the Commission, who should be nonpartisan, threatens to investigate him for perjury. How many members of the Administration are refusing to testify in public under oath because they might be investigated for perjury? If they can appear on talk shows and give their accounts of events why can't they appear before the Commission? THE TRUTH PLEASE. I am tired of hype and secrets. We lost many good men in World War II to preserve our freedom. I fear for our freedom and our future now. It must have taken great courage for Mr. Clarke to write this book knowing what he would face. As concerned citizens of the United States we should review and evaluate all information thoughtfully and try to find the truth. I detest some of these reviews. Although I am a life-long registered Republican I try to look at all sides, not just fixed-focus rhetoric. After reading some of the more thoughtful reviews I hope to read this book soon.
Rating: Summary: Finally the Truth! Review: I recommend this well writen book to everybody. It is refreshing finally to get the truth from a top expert with such a distinguished career. It is a "must-read" book for every American citizen who wants to be informed!
