Review: Anyone who doubts this book and its contents should be required to talk to all 3000 families who suffered a loss on 9/11. Mr. Clarke has been an angel of honesty and all the citizens (millions of you) who do not subscribe to truth and honesty are not capable of thinking in democratic (Democracy) terms.

Review: I read the book and I truely believe this man. You can't dismiss this, this is the 5th person in this administration to say the same thing! The attacks on his character are disgusting! Read this book and you too will learn the truth! He is a Republican, not a liberal! Brushing this off as another crazy liberal book is just wrong! I thank Mr. Clarke for letting the American people know the truth!

Summary: Shameless profiteering from a national tragedy
Review: If you buy this book, keep in mind that you are helping someone to profit from the pain of over 3,000 people. I did read the book. If all that Clarke says in his book is true, why did he wait until after he was out of office to mention anything? Why does he conveniently remember things now that he's selling his book that he neglected to mention in office? If his "apology" was genuine, let him take the millions of dollars he stands to gain from the sales of this book, and donate 100% to the victims of 9/11, who are still in pain, and whose loved ones' memories are being shamelessly exploited for political and financial gain by this madman. This is a sad case of revisionist history, carefully orchestrated and timed to hurt a sitting President who wouldn't give him the recognition he wanted while he was serving under him, to somehow try to aggrandize himself so he can establish a place in history despite having failed us in obscurity in two administrations, and who now stands to profit tremendously. I am still undecided in this upcoming election, but I will not allow myself to be swayed either way by such a shameful book by a two-bit writer. If he had put his book out on September 10, 2001, I would have recommended it wholeheartedly. For him to have waited out the country's pain, biding his time until a point where he could exploit 9/11 for his own profit is insulting to the memories of our loved ones, whom we will never forget. Just wait, I assured you the TV movie is not far behind...after their success with this book and the 60 Minutes interview, Viacom is probably already working on it. If you're going to spend $18.35, please send it to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army, and don't waste it on someone who would play upon the pain of all of us who suffered on 911 for his own personal gain.

Summary: America - wake up!!
Review: I think that America needs a wake up call like this book. Why would someone, who has been a Terror expert since Ronald Reagan, make up the content of this book? I think it is excellent writing and the American public has a right to know what's going on in the White House. It is now more important than ever that the world works together on the global war on terror, but not under a President whose own interests are more important to him than what the rest of the world thinks!

Summary: Impressed and Disappointed---BUT NO RATING
Review: I have not as yet read or purchased this book by Richard Clarke
I have however listened to him on Meet the Press, Larry King ,60 minutes and the 9-11 hearings, and was impressed by his sincerity
and knowledge of the facts. I am disappointed to see guys like Frist, RICE and Cheney mount vicious personal attacks on CLarke and see the Republican hounds go after Clarke --that is attack the messenger, particularly when they can't seriously attack the facts he has bought to the table on both the Clinton and Bush and thier sorry history of dealing with terrorists
After reading the vicious criticism of "readers" who obviously have neither bought nor read Clarke's book I feel Amazon should make every critic take a solemn oath they have in fact read the whole book --this might help raise the level of discourse of these "critiques" I do not have a rating for the book but I would rate Clarke as sincere and his views more trustworthy now
that I hear the vicious attack being eleased by Bush and Republicans----he must really be telling the truth if they hate him so badly+ Bush admitted to Woodward long ago that Al Quaeda
terrorism was not an urgent policy matter beore 9-11--why should they pretend they were doing much before 9-11---it would be so
nice for the President to say I made some mistakes and misjudgements--but I guess that will never happen Clarke
himself doesn't say 9-11 could have been prevented, but at least
the GOVERNMENT could have looked like it was really trying and might have been lucky

Summary: Clarke is a hero, but this is just a tip of the iceberg
Review: Here is another example of how Bush UTTERLY does not care about our national security, but is busy taking credit for something he has not done. In his recent speech at the National Defense University, Bush said, "We're helping former Soviet states find productive employment for former weapons scientists." Bush is referring to Defense Enterprise Fund (DEF), a venture capital fund financed by the US Congress. DEF was supposed to convert Russian WMD establishments while simultaneously realizing profit from high-technology joint ventures. According to Department of Defense Audit, DEF spent half of its grant on itself, which is twenty five times the industry average. As far as DEF's investment portfolio of $30M, $20M disappeared from it under very suspicious circumstances. Defense Threat Reduction Agency ("DTRA") maintains a DEF-related webpage. This page used to state that the number of former Soviet WMD scientists converted by DEF to peaceful pursuits was 3370. I questioned this figure and DTRA reduced it to 1250, which is a 66% reduction. But the real figure could not be more than 200 Russian scientists. This is how Bush tells you "the truth"! And these are precisely the scientists we wanted to keep away from Al Queda! DEF was closed as of December 31, 2003, its entire $67M grant lost, and nobody was punished, except the whistleblower. Remember the anthrax scare? Well, the world's biggest producer of militarized anthrax and small pox (even scarier), the Vector Plant of Novossibirsk, Russia, came to DEF asking for just one million to convert itself. But the money was already gone! Read the audit! $100K for a golf club, $150K housing allowance swindle, Concorde flights, and on, and on, and on - until all the money is gone! Does that look to you as conversion of the Russian weapons of mass destruction? I am the DEF whistleblower, and I am being destroyed, assassinated by this Administration simply because I wanted to save this program, save American lives. My question is, "How dare you to attack Richard Clarke? He is standing up against the national security establishment that threatens your lives with its blatant lies. Clarke is a hero!"
