Rating: Summary: Know Your Role and BUY THE BOOK! Review: I am a reading freak. And this is one one the GREATEST books I have ever read. Some of the stories were funny as hell and the rest of the book was just plain excelent. This is fully recommended, but there is some bad language in here- but that just makes the book even better!
Rating: Summary: A wonderfully violent sensory overload... Review: When I first got this book, I figured I'd be reading a lot of interestingly funny anecdotes about one of the most intriguing and popular wrestlers of this decade. What I got was something slightly different... yes, it's a book of anecdotes... but most of them aren't quite that funny - they're very serious and engaging --- while at the same time, a little bit of humor will creep in every so often. As many of you who follow Mick Foley's career know, he has been through a lot of damage and abuse, mostly physically. You cringe when you read his account of that brutal match he had with Terry Funk in Japan; you grimace when he took a really hard powerbomb from Vader in 1993. But somehow, Mick finds a way to make you smile! Occasionally, the WWF influence can be felt while reading up on the book, but overall, this is all Mick's words. You'll notice that many of his thoughts about wrestling might even share some of yours, and not just the belief that "yes, pro-wrestling is real, it's just the matches that are a work"... This is a great read for anyone who's into wrestling - or for anyone who's very curious as to how one man lives out his dream to be a wrestler. I highly recommend this book. "Have a nice day!"
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece of Literature Review: This was one of the best books i have read...it felt like Mick was right there talking to me, which would have been better than having to read. But, reading this book, you could feel everything that Mick put into wrestling. I especially liked when he made fun of Al Snow, because Al is one of my favorite wrestlers...along with Mick. I'm an avid wrestling fan, and have been my whole life, and i have seen most of the matches Mick talked about in his book, especially the ones that took place in Japan. After reading this, I really know now that....FOLEY IS GOD!
Rating: Summary: Amazing! MICK FOLEY IS INDEED GOD! Review: I bought the book knowing that it would be good, but I never expected it to be the best I've ever read. Being a wrestling fan for so long, I always thought that one too many blows to the head would make wrestlers moronic, but my faith in their inteligence was renewed when I read Mick Foley's book. The poetic and passionate nature of his memoirs is inspirational and wonderful. From the first chapter to the last, I wanted to get up and wrestle even when the only thing around to wrestle was a pillow and the only place to wrestle was the kitchen floor. Mankind or Dude Love, Mick Foley is GOD!
Rating: Summary: The Truth Be Told Review: This has to be the best damn book. His history as Mankind and Cactus Jack was just amazing. To read how he came up in the ranks and how he was equaly held down by duba-see duba. If your not a fan you will be afterwards.
Rating: Summary: Mankind -- Have a nice day Review: Great book. I did not read the whole thing yet but what I have is very good. I learned a lot of things about the hard core king. I didn't think he had it in him to write a letter. I recomend this book to all wrestling and non-wrestling fans. It explains what they go through. It gives a better understanding of how much wrestling hurts, and that it is not all fake.
Rating: Summary: Saps Are Us (aka TVidiots who like 3 ring illusion shows) Review: I didn't understand this book, nor its popularity, or the spectacle known as pro wrestling. I do credit him for having his mind intact after all of those evil brutal "matches", but who's going to respect a guy with as many bruises and scars as this guy? If you look up to a beer swigging boss abusing "hero", then Mr. Foley is probably the author for you.
Rating: Summary: The gratest book of all time Review: This book is great READ IT! 8^
Rating: Summary: Inspirational, Amazing, God-Like Review: Foley is an inspiration to those who want to fly of the top of your stairs and plant an elbow through your living room table. I've never read a book so quickly in all my life! It's such an entertaining read even (and I mean even) if you are not a wrestling fan. Tune in for Foley's next match where he walks on water.
Rating: Summary: 'HAVE A NICE DAY' AN ABSOLUTE MUST-READ!!! Review: When my copy of Mick Foley's book, 'Have A Nice Day -- A Tale Of Blood And Sweatsocks' arrived, I opened the box with the excitement that could only be compared to that of a ten-year-old on Christmas Day and started reading. Nearly nine hours later, I was firmly convinced I had just read one of the greatest books ever written, and by far the finest sports-related book ever written. I could go on and on and on about how certain stories made me laugh, how certain stories made me gasp, and how certain stories brought a tear to my eye. But, I think the best compliment I could pay Mick Foley is this (please excuse the improper grammar): Mick, if you're reading this, you done good!!! THANK YOU!
