It si an amazing read for wrestling fans, and even for people that don't enjoy pro wrestling. It will make you laugh, cry, and think about what's important in life. My hats off to Mick for a job well done.
Rating: Summary: The Words of a legend Review: Mick Foley has been entertaining fans of wrestling for years. He has suffered and given his all to fulfill his childhood dream, and now he shares that dream with us. This book is full of behind the scenes truths and facts about prowrestling that not many people know. Now the truth comes out, and things will surly never be the same.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, but when is the movie coming out? Review: After reading this book, I felt as if I had some sort of understanding of Mick, a seemingly peaceful man whom in his career always chose the most violent and painful path. From his misunderstood beginnings as a Long Island teen fantasizing about Jimmy Snuka, throughout his travels and travails through the outhouses of professional wrestling, to the pinnacle of his trade, the World Wrestling Federation, Mick shows all, in his own idiosyncratic way in his own painstakingly written words, what this business is all about. If you ever wanted to understand why the millions that watch this Pop Cultural Phenomenomon unfold each and every Monday night, this is your opportunity. If you are interested in a book of inspiration, seeing a man who was told at every turn that his dream was unattainable, that he was too different, that he was not a person that would sell out arenas, overcome and succeed, this is your book. If you want to enjoy a book, have a good laugh, lose complete track of time because the book is so engrossing, this is your book. Thanks Mick, and as always, HAVE A NICE DAY.
Rating: Summary: Frank, Grisly and very Very VERY Funny Review: This is the autobiography of a legend, the most gut-churningly exciting pro-wrestler of all time, Mick Foley. Written in long hand (no ghost writer!) backstage at WWF events and in hotel rooms, Foley has carefuly put together a book that at times makes you feel ill, makes you root for him and makes you laugh so hard you'll think you'll die. The guy's crazy. The guy's a genius at what he does. The book is very, very entertaining. But you've probably decided to buy it anyway (that's why you're on this page, isn't it?) Foley, you're nuts - but we love you!
Rating: Summary: Best book I have ever read Review: This book is awesome. I recommend this to any wrestling fan. You will respect this guy for what he has done by reading this book.
Rating: Summary: I have to say I was surprised Review: I have to say that at first I was skeptical about a Pro Wrestler writing his own autobiography. I had known a lot about Mick Foley and knew that there was probably enough info but I was skeptical about the quality of the writing. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. This book was written for everyone. You do not have to be a pro wrestling fan to understand and enjoy this book. It is a story of a man who lived his dream, loves his family and just enjoys life and we can all learn from that. The book was easy to read and very enjoyable. One of the best autobiographies I have ever read. It is also great because it gives you a look inside pro wrestling, past all of the stereotypes into the truth. It also lets you see past the characters into the real person who is Mick Foley. He has opened the door for other wrestlers to do the same. Mick holds nothing back and gives you the real deal. I just loved it. A must on your holiday shopping list. Nice job Mick!
Rating: Summary: THANK YOU GODS OF WRESTLING! Review: What more can be said about this amazing, insightful book? Everyone should get on their knees and thank the gods of wrestling for gifting us with Mick Foley! Then get on your knees and thank the gods of merchandising for Amazon.com for carrying this grand opus since it's impossible to find it in a conventional bookstore! Thanx, Amazon, for giving wrestling fans credit for actually being literate and stockin this title!1
Rating: Summary: A terrific treat for Mick-aholics Review: Mick Foley has put together, in his own inimitable manner, a fantastic read. While one may never truly understand what drove this man to perform the stunts he did, Mankind does his best to let us inside his rather intelligent, though obviously twisted, mind. While admitted a fan of wrestling in general and Mankind/Dude Love/Cactus Jack in particular, the true joy of this book is learning about the person who put brought all of these characters to life, and thankfully in his very own words. Thank you, Mick, for all the excitement you provided in the ring, and for 500+ pages of captivating, hilarious, at touching reading about why you do what you do.
Rating: Summary: A Giant Step for Mankind Review: The complexity, wit and intelligence of grappler Mick Foley come through in this entertaining insider's view of the world of professional wrestling. From admitting his love of amusement parks, Christmas and food to describing the horrific litany of his injuries, Foley creates a realistic portrait of an unusual man whose threshold for pain finally gave him the distinction he felt he needed to graduate from the nerd status of his childhood. Foley holds nothing back, from his awkward first attempt at losing his virginity to his bloody Hell in the Cell match versus the Undertaker. It's a very human tale, infused with backstage stories, accounts of his treatment by WWF, WCW and ECW officials, and jokes about wrestling buddy Al Snow. It's a must for any wrestling fan and a reference source for any parent curious about a kid's interest in the sport.
