Rating: Summary: Thanks Mick Review: Last Monday, February 28, 2000 on RAW IS WAR, I found myself tearing up as a tribute to the life and career of Mick Foley was displayed. As a new wrestling fan, I am grateful that Mr. Foley has chosen to share his experiences in "Have A Nice Day" so that people, fans and nonfans alike, have the opportunity to glimpse into the world of professional wresting from the eyes of such a great athlete, performer and man. As an editor in the nonfiction book publishing industry, I can honestly say that the book itself is written incredibly well. Every minute spent reading this book is worthwhile. Thank you Mick Foley.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Of The Year? I Think So. Review: Mick Foleys book HAVE A NICE DAY: A TALE OF BLOOD AND SWEATSOCKS is the best book i've ever read in my life the book tells about him struguling to become a pro wrestler and traveling 8 hours in a car to make $25 bucks for one show. Mick Foley is the worlds greatest hardcore wrestler but he sacrificed many things to do so such as living in the back of his FORD Fairmont, living with people he does not no or even like. The book is also VERY graphic in describing the injurys he recives while wrestling but also tells the story of a loveable, funny, and NON-pain resistent man.Micks book is not like most others in the way that he starts to talk about one thing then he tells you about somthing that happens to someone else in what ever he is talking about.Mick Foley One Heck of a WRESTLER but an even better AUTHOR.
Rating: Summary: From someone who's not a wrestling fan... Review: First of all, let me just say that I'm not a wrestling fan. As a matter of fact, I rather dislike this form of entertainment. However, I do like to read authors who have a knack for telling stories. And Mick Foley certainly does. As a matter of fact, this book has given me newfound respect for the practitioners of this entertainment form. The only negative points to it are that it sometimes get a little tedious in the play-by-play description of matches, and lots of terms are specific to wrestling and are not explained (perhaps a glossary for the non-initiated would be a good idea?). Mick Foley is one tough SOB, and also a great storyteller. I had a hard time putting the book down. I'll never see wrestling in the same light, that's for sure!
Rating: Summary: Please Read. Review: This book is one of the best biographies ever. Even if you dont like wrestling, or cant relate to it, you will enjoy this book. It tells Mic's struggles, his making of new friends, and losses of others. His behind the scenes look at wrestling really opened my eyes up to the "sports entertainment" aspect. His tribute pages to Owen Hart and Mr. Monsoon are also very touching. Find someone who owns this book or has read it and ask them if they liked it. Then get your own copy. Have a nice day.
Rating: Summary: Best book ever Review: I love this book.Once I saw No Way Out I ran out and bought this book. I read it last night and realized how much he has gone through to get to where he is now
Rating: Summary: ripcity28 Review: good insights. the only problem with this book is not enough insights and to many blow by blow descriptions of what seems like every match that he ever had. i like to watch the matches not read about them. i do realize hes giving insights of what really happens in the ring. im just saying that i got it after the 1st 2 or 3 descriptions.
Rating: Summary: I'm going to miss you Mick! You are a true legend! Review: Ive just finished reading the ppv report of WWF No Way Out and i still can't beleive it. I can't beleive that my role-model, my hero, my favourite wrestler and person, is finally done with wrestling(For those of you who dont know, Mick Foley lost a retirement match today and unfortunately, like most other retirement matches in wrestling, is not coming back in 2 months). I really was expecting mick to win and go on to main-event his first wrestlemania; now he's gone and worse than that, i never got his last match on tape! Anyways enough rambling, back to the review. This is a wonderful book. After reading it, you really feel closer to foley and to the wrestling industry in general. It is very well written and is definatly worth the money as it is quite a lengthy book. I spent 4 months waiting for 'Have a Nice Day' in Australia (and its still not available here), until i decided to buy it off amazon. I payed double what all you yanks did (can i say that?), but it was definatly worth every penny! I am really writing this review for all the Australian and international foley/wrestling/reading people out there. Don't wait for 'Have a Nice Day' in your local book store, order it from Amazon, it will come quicker! FWF rules! Bang! Bang! Have Mercy! Have a Nice Day!
Rating: Summary: MANKIND - HAVE A NICE DAY! Mick Foley Review: I started this book with an open mind, knowing that it was an autobiography of a wrestler. Don't get me wrong i like wrestling and i watch WWF when i can. What i didn't expect was the frankness of Mick Foley. We see these wrestlers each week, acting out thier stage persona never really stopping to think how they got where they are today nor imagining them as real people with families and a personal life. The only thing i am disapointed in is that this book is going to end. I have around another 100 pages to go, i want to read more. A brilliant insight into the private life, public life and thoughts of another human being. A credit to the many personas of Mick Foley.
Rating: Summary: Great for Fans, So-So for Others Review: Very entertaining, and highly recommended, for fans of any or all of the professional wrestling federations. It is a "must read" among wrestlers themselves. This is not really the book, though, for those new to the "sport" who want to learn a lot about it; it is written largely for the "in-crowd" and assumes a knowledge of the people and situations discussed.
Rating: Summary: Hardcore Legend: Mick Foley Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. Have a Nice Day!: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks is the biography of the rugged but lovable Hardcore Legend himself, Mick Foley. In this New York Times number one selling book, Mick Foley (also known as Mankind, Dude Love, and Cactus Jack) talks about his wife Colette, his children, his life, and of course, his wrestling career. Mick takes you through his whole career, from Japanese Death Matches, to losing his ear, to winning the World Wrestling Federation Championship. This is an excellent book and should be read by everyone, wrestling fan or not.
