Review: Mick Foley is my favorite wrestler, and still is even though he is retired. It is an excellent book because you get to see what a wrestlr has to do in order to make it big. I recommend everyone to read it, even if you are not a wrestleing fan.

Summary: How is this guy still alive?
Review: I honestly can't believe this guy can still walk after reading about his ring expereinces! This book is very well written and gives you an in-depth look at Mick Foley the man and the wrestler. If you are a fan of wrestling this book is definitely for you! Foley serves up a large dish of information on all facets of the wrestling game. I know have a better idea of why the WWF is beating the hell out of the WCW.

This book gives Foley the kind of positive exposure that Brett Hart's video "Wrestling with Shadows" does. That video is also strongly recommended! I am now a huge fan of Foley! Great book!

Summary: A gritty and touching look at the hardcore legend
Review: This book was incredible. I'll admit that I am some what biased as I am a huge fan of Mick Foley but what I found most interesting about this book was the relationships in Mick Foley's life. Mick's relationship with his father is wonderful to read about as you begin to realize that Mick sort of idolizes his dear old dad. This book also invites you to examine the personality and development of a man that would allow other men to nearly destroy his body for the entertainment of strangers. This book also tells of Micks sacrifice to the fans and you begin to under stand what he has given you. His in ring exploits are nothing short of inspiring and sometimes disturbing. There were moments in this book where I actually cringed in combination of shock, horror and amazement. I have always been a fan of wrestling but now I have a much deeper apreciation for all those who put on those tights and strap up those boots. After reading the whole book and seeing him take that brutal fall on "No Way Out" I realize that this was and is a fitting end for my hero. I'm just glad that Mick lived through it and retired from the ring a legend instead of losing his career to a serious injury or worse yet fatal accident.

Summary: We will remember you, Mick
Review: People always ask me why I am so entertained by wrestling. The answer I give is that it contains every element of show from comedy to drama and even an occasional foray into romance. This book contains each of those in abundance as Mick Foley, one of the greatest ever to step into the ring, gives readers his life story.

Even though I am a die-hard wrestling fan, I had never heard of Foley before he entered the WWF in late 1995. I was a bit disgusted at first by the Mankind character, but Mick was able to make it grow to a level of interest and humor that had me glued to the screen. In the book, Mick goes all the way back to his college days and his training by Domenic De Nucci. He talks about driving hundreds of miles to Pittsburgh every weekend to fulfill a longshot dream.

The reader is taken through Mick's early independent days to his foray into the big time when he signed with WCW in the early 1990's. What I found most refreshing about the book is that while Mick is certainly very prolific in complimenting his colleagues, he seems to pull no punches when speaking of those who put roadblocks in front of him. Fans of Ric Flair will see a somewhat different picture of the Nature Boy (which I will not give away here) than what you are used to.

Mick then talks about his falling out with ECW, his stint in ECW and finally his first 4 years in the WWF up until his first championship win in December of 1999. Depsite the fact that I found most of the early stuff informative and entertaining, I enjoyed reading about the WWF years the most because Mick provided that behind the scenes perspective that was lacking when I watched those matches. His description of the "Summer of Love" and his matches with Owen Hart as Dude Love will have you on the floor laughing.

For those that have not seen Mick's courageous and insane actions in the ring, this book will give you a healthy respect for the effort most wrestlers put forth and the risks and dangers they face in the ring. Anyone who believes that wrestling is "fake" need only look at the back cover to see all the injuries Mick has endured in the ring.

Unlike most autobiographies, there is no ghost writer here. Mick apparently had a guy write one chapter and was repulsed by it. It is a very down to earth style of writing that allows you to see everything through the author's eyes. My only regret is that Foley recently retired and his loveable insane characters will no longer be on my T.V.

Summary: Excellent book - Loved it
Review: This book is excellent. This book is definitely entertaining and yet very touching and insightful. I learned a lot about the whole wrestling industry. I felt like this was the kind of guy I may have gone to high school with. You will definitely think differently of this man after reading this book.

Summary: Hardcore Legend Again Breaks Ground
Review: When I first picked up this book I wasn't sure I would like it. But the moment I started reading I couldn't put it down. It is beyond a shadow of a doubt that is the best book in a long time. His life takes you on a roller coaster as he explains everything in his life. From his early life in Rhode Island to Death Matches in Japan to Fighting the Undertaker in the WWF this man has done it all. He mixes comedy with personal experiences and gruesome tales. Anything and everything you wanted to know about this man is right in here. If you're a fan who only started watching his matches a couple of months ago, this is a must since he retired at WWF's NO WAY OUT PPV.

Summary: Tough SOB!
Review: This is the first biograpy I have read and I found it brilliant.

As a wrestling fan myself, I think this should be a must buy for all WWF fans.

It gives a good insight to how the wrestling business works and tells you how he went from wrestling in his friends backyard to becoming a WWF superstar.

A MUST BUY!

Summary: We will miss you Mick.
Review: Alright now, these peope are getting carried away. I'll admitt I'm a wrestling but I will review this book just like any other book.

I like Mick Foley. I was upset WWF didn't really build him up more than they did.(why didn't he beat Triple H...at least let him win this last time so he can go out with a "Bang, Bang")

Almost all the reviews are from wrestling fans who love Foley. They give it five stars 'cause they where impressed with his book and so was I but come on. This is by no means the best book I've ever read. Unless I only read two books in my life and the other one was that piece of trash book with The Rocks name on it.

This book is for anyone who would like to get to know more about wrestling and what goes on behind the scenes. I don't recommend it to all but if you have the smallest interest give it a try. I wouldn't however pay the full cost for it. That is nuts. But if you find it on sale and need something to read try it.

And kids, try reading some other books now that you took time to pick something up to read.
