Review: Fleeced is how I feel. I've read all of this lady's books and I keep hoping she will mature into someone of a similar talent as her mother. With this book I give up! Cardboard characters with cutsey-pie names and a total absence of plot combine to make this a waste of time and money. This is definitely somone who would not be published if it were not for Mommy.

Summary: Slow and Boring
Review: Fleeced was a waste of my money. It was very slow, uneventful, and dull. The characters had nothing to say. In her other Reagan Reilly mysteries, Ms. Clark writes the characters very vibrantly. They are full of jokes and life. She must have rushed through it or something. If you want to read a real mystery, read "Daddy's Little Girl" by her mother, Mary Higgins Clark. I don't think that Ms. Clark the younger will ever reach her mother's caliber.

Summary: Not so wild, definitely woolly and fun!
Review: Higgins, daughter of suspense master Mary Higgins Clark, serves up another frothy concoction, as delicious and memorable as a puff pastry. Regan Reilly, Clark's heroine, is a Los Angeles-based private investigator. While visiting her mother Nora, a famous novelist (of course), Regan is asked to investigate a murder in a once-grand private club, located along Gramercy Park.
The club definitely needs help: its premier tenants are a struggling school for butlers and a woman who serves up parties for singles to mingle. When Ned dies, club manager Jack mourns not only the loss of a friend, but also the four diamonds Ned has bequeathed to the club -- enough to restore its former glory. Ned has also bequeathed two enormous sheep, who keep getting in the way of everybody trying to solve the crime.
This mystery is not a whodunit, but rather a "when-will-the-detective-figure-it-out." We readers know where the stones are hidden. We get a glimpse of each character's story along the way. Regan doesn't so much detect as stir things up, and the ending is satisfactory as all the strands come together in a satisfying little ball.
Fleeced succeeds by not trying to be more than it is: a few hours of pure escape -- the perfect airplane book. Moving along, you don't ask questions like, "How can Regan work in New York if she has a California PI license?" or, "How come the New York cops open their files to Regan just for the asking -- even if her boyfriend is one of their own?" After all, it doesn't really matter. You don't want to know how many calories lurk in that chocolate éclair either. Just keep an eye on those sheep.

Review: I am a fan of Carol Higgins Clark and Mary Higgins Clark, but I was pretty disappointed with this book. While I enjoy Carol's humor and her quirky characters and plot lines, she went a bit over the top with this storyline. Stuffed sheep with diamonds in their eyes? Competitors trying to sabotage a butlering school? Ugh. Lots of loose ends at the end too.

Review: I cannot believe the reviews that rave about this book. The negative reviews are right on target. This was a boring, choppy novel that did not hold my interest. I agree with another reviewer that this author should not quit her day job. Don't waste your money.

Review: I have been a fan of Carol Higgins Clark since her first book. Fleeced is well told, but lacks the "kick" that her other books had. I had a tough time caring about who killed the two older men, because we really never meet anyone who really missed them. Also, lacking is Carol's excellent sence of humor which was evident in her best book so far, Snagged.

And like most people who are intrigued by a good train wreck, I kept reading to see how bad it would get. The book didn't disappoint! I was utterly shocked to see all the strong reviews. All I could imagine was that Carol had some of her friends write in to boast about the book. My recommendation is that Carol should return to acting. It couldn't be as bad as her attempt at book writing.

Summary: A Total Waste of Time
Review: I listened to the audio version, read by the author. The only thing worse than the writing was the reading!! This was one of the worst books that I have read/heard in a very long time. At the very end I was still at a loss to identify some of the main characters. Not a chance that this one will stay in my library...it's off the the used book store.

Review: I really enjoyed reading Fleeced by Carol Higgins Clark. It has enough romance, mystery and intrigue to hold the reader's attention throughout the entire book.
