Rating: Summary: Everything good about this book, story and characters Review: This is one of the best fiction stories I have ever read. It moves along quickly, there is lots of action, twists and turns to the plot. The characters are colorful. I loved the Art story-line. Miranda was just wonderful. It was full of descriptions of places and people. I thought there was just enough characters. I enjoyed it to the last page.
Rating: Summary: oh sooooo dissappointing... Review: Reading the synopsis one would never guess Nora could dissappoint. I absolutely love all her books but I could barely finish this one.. If only she would have given more depth to the characters, I reall couldn't feel for any of them... I wanted so much better.
Rating: Summary: Slow... but worth the time Review: This is the toughest of Nora's books to get into, but well worth the effort. It's an interesting look at an interesting profession (authenticating artwork) and the relationship between Ryan and Miranda is dynamic. The only thing I did NOT enjoy was the rationalization by Ryan's mother of his stealing. She actually concluded that it would be a sin (!) if he *didn't* steal! And this woman was supposed to be a devout Catholic whom her son would not want to disappoint by missing Easter Mass. Give me a break! When is Nora going to take a realistic look at devoutly orthodox Catholics? Try HOMEPORT. But for a faster-paced, more exciting look at an interesting profession, try Nora Roberts' THE REEF, a look at treasure hunting and marine archaeology.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed for the first time with Nora Roberts Review: While normally a fan of Nora Roberts, I was disappointed in the pace and the weak personality of her 'heroine' as opposed to the unrealistic persona of her 'hero. Dr Jones is given a lot of good credentials but no common sense. Ryan Boldari is given smoldering sexuality but the manners of a suave caveman. The storytelling was not up to its usual flew-through-the-pages mode. It could have been better.
Rating: Summary: captivating from beginning to ending Review: I thourghly enjoyed homeport. It was one of those books you just hate to see end. I was completly captivated by Ryan Boldari's character. He's every womans dream man. A little mysterious, sexy as all get out, and finds himself falling head over heals in love with Dr. Miranda Jones. This book gets an A+ Mrs. Roberts, thanks again for another great book.
Rating: Summary: Slow..........So very slow........... Review: This book was one of the hardest books to get into and finish. I love Nora Roberts books and am always excited about reading them but this one took me forever to read and I had to force myself to finish it. The best part of the book was the ending.
Rating: Summary: Nora Does it Again Review: Another sweeping tale by Nora Roberts that will join her others on my "keeper" shelf. Roberts has a wonderful way to wind us up in her stories and make us forget that she breaks all sorts of POV rules. She does it with such finesse that we never get whiplash. As usual, I loved it!!
Rating: Summary: Terrific! Review: As a fan who has read every one of Nora's books (except for the last two, which I've ordered), she just keeps getting better. I really liked Miranda, even though she was uptight at first, I just knew that she would be as feisty as Nora's other heroines once she got mad enough at being a victim and once she got her confidence up. I really liked her brother and his girlfriend also and would love to have seen a little more "hot and heavy" with them. You knew they were made for each other. But Ryan, whew. He is the ideal man. Good thing he's fictional or my husband would have some serious competition. He is definitely on my list of "Fictional Heros I'd Like to Commit Adultery With." I also loved the surprise ending. That really was the icing. Keep it Up Nora!!!
Rating: Summary: The Suspense Will Kill You! Review: 05/10/99: Just Finished. This is an absolutely page-turner! The characters of Miranda and Ryan are exceptional. The weaving of all the characters in the book make you feel right in the drama of their lives. Having characters of different classes (poor boy, warm heart; rich girl, cold heart) made the book more alive. The relationship with mother and daughter is powerful, yet skeptical. Father is uninterested in anything but his archeology digs. Andrew, sweet brother, with all his problems and finally understanding what really matters to him. There is never a give away as to who the "bad guy" is, which was a complete shock. Best "Who-done it" book I've read in a L-O-N-G time. Great Work Ms. Roberts!
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL STORY WITH A THEIF TO DIE FOR!! Review: HOMEPORT is a story filled with murder, mystery and humor revolving around a gorgeous beyond sin businessman who happens to be an expert art thief, a wonderful yet tragically alcoholic brother, and the hard as nails woman that loves them both. HOMEPORT is a delightful read that I know you'll enjoy. Trust me!
