Rating: Summary: 1 step forward and 2 back Review: Eternity Code offers more invention and possibility for engaging drama than Arctic Incident did. But still Eoin Colfer doesn't give us enough. Last time the action was underwritten and ended up being a bit confusing. That ain't the case here but it's the characters that fall short amid the story. Holly. Foaly and Root (who thankfully isn't in this much) are not further developed in any way. Juliet has more time now but her sub-story slows down the rest.Plus Jon Spiro was a very weak villain. He just didn't do anything except surround himself with stereotyped goons. And a subplot about him being connected to the Mob seems to have been forgotten by Colfer at a certain point. Sure, it's the longest Artemis Fowl book yet but I still can't get over the fact that the first was so much better, had more action and was just way more enjoyable. I kept waiting for the big ending to come, only it didn't happen. There is no finale to this threequel. It just ends, leaving many questions. What happened to Spiro? Where did the C-Cube go? The C-Cube had the capability of juicing up the story but nothing much was done with it even though it was a pretty original plot device. It's a shame it had to be no more than a generic MacGuffin. It was also a bit open-ended. Colfer could end the franchise with this one if the wanted to (tho he has never taken full advantage of all the possibilities it can offer) but I doubt he will. I'm sure we'll see the return of Arty in May 2004. I got the Hardback cover with the red/glittery wrap-around, very nice.
Rating: Summary: Third Time's a Charm Review: This book is a wonderfully funny literary masterpiece. It certainly lives up to the high standards placed by the previous books in the series. While it might not have been as entertaining and funny as the original work, it still was very enjoyable. I would recommend that any one interested in reading it read the first two books before they attempt this one. It contains some references to previous adventures that would not be understood without background information. This book is written on a somewhat more somber note than the others were but it still keeps its humor and levity. To anybody looking for a funny book to fill part of their day, this is the book for you. Read it, enjoy it, and love it.
Rating: Summary: Is there going to be a Fourth?? I hope!! Review: Ever since I read the first two books in this amazing series, I have been waiting impatiently for the third. The Eternity Code is just as good, if not better, than its predecessors. There is the same great clever humor and the same great characters. The plot is great and you never know what to expect. I reccommend this book to any person, whether old or young! I just hope there will be a fourth book!!!
Rating: Summary: Fun for all the family Review: The usual characters are back for a third instalment, yet the writing remains fresh and crisp. You know what to expect in this book, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to read. I recommend it for all the family, I'm nearly forty and I thought it was great, as did my ten-year-old daughter. J. K. Rowling could learn a lesson from these books: keep it simple!
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK COMBINES HUMOUR, MAGIC, SUSPENSE AND ACTION Review: Atemis Fowl is a 14 yr. old boy, going on 15. He is a genius and a crimminal master mind. He is friends with the fairies, his mom had depression and his father was captured by the Russian Mafiya. Therefore, Artemis Fowl is considered highly unusual. Life is great, then Artemis steals fairy technology he throws himself and his bodyguards (Butler and Juliet)and his fairy friends (Root, Foaly, Mulch and Holly) into the most dangerous adventure of their lives. When it becomes clear to Artemis that one of his friends may not be able to continue because of a mortal wound, he somehow becomes the boy he never was. When the book comes to a startling conclusion, you will wish that Eoin Colfer could have Artemis and friends continue their amazing lives through time. This book is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Eternity Code Review: best Artemis Fowl yet but in the end he forgets about the faries.
Rating: Summary: Eternity Code... Review: From the first glance, you see a clean cut blue and purple cover of the Eternity Code. Once again, Eoin Colfer astounds us with his brilliant ability to write with such sarcastic humour. With his funny prose, we read the third (and perhaps last) adventure of our child prodigy, Artemis Fowl. This time, Artemis has invented the C Cube, from some stolen fairy technology he had from since he abducted Holly. This C Cube is fifty years ahead of human technology and can do practically anything in the world. As his father is now alive and ...moralistic, Artemis swears this is his last plot before turning back to a "normal" childhood. Artemis shows businessman Spiro his technological wonder of the C Cube, which results in the C Cube being stolen, Butler shot, and all round chaos. Luckily, Butler is healed by no other than Holly Short, though he has aged 15 years. Thus begins a whirlwind adventure of getting back the C Cube and preventing a species war on Earth... I would highly recommend this book for all ages, as this book is full of wit and glamour.
Rating: Summary: The End, or is it? Review: The third book in the series was great. It showed that you just can't trick Artemis Fowl and Butler will always survive. I loved it and I think it was a great way to end the series, though I would like to know what happens with Artemis Fowl in the future. Does he stay on the straight and narrow?
Rating: Summary: Kicking Book Review: For those of you that have read the first two books in the Artemis Fowl trilohy you must know that he is a child prodigy. This book is very heartstopping to the last page, but it was not as good as Artemis Fowl: the Artic Incident that book had a lot more heart but the Eternity code was still up there past harry potter. This is a book for anybody who likes to enjoy a couple of whatifs in their books!
Rating: Summary: You will read it and never put it down Review: This is the best book that has come out in a long time. I recommend it for anybody over the age of 8. Artemis Fowl is such a likeable character and when reading this book you grow to like him even more. Anybody who read the first two must read this one!
