Rating: Summary: One of my favorites since the fourth grade. Review: This book has been one of my favorite books the third or fourth grade, I don't exactly remember which one, I just know that I've really liked it for a long time. I'm getting out of the seventh grade in a month and a half and I've read this book at least five times; each time I read it I enjoy it as if I was reading it for the first time and it never gets old or monotnous. This is a book that I would read to my children as a bed time story; it's really a book the whole family can enjoy. I love how original this book is and how it captures your immangination, regardless of what your age is. I love how different the characters' personalities are and how much they fit them. I especially love Centipede's rudeness and songs, and Aunt Sponges' vainness. Lane Smith's wild illustrations are great; they're much better than the boring realistic illustrations. "James and the Giant Peach" is definitly a keeper. Roald Dahl is, in my opinion, the best children's book writer of all time. If you enjoy this book, I guarantee that you'll love Dahl's "Matilda" and Dahl's "Witches".
Rating: Summary: Great book, especially for read-aloud to young kids Review: I really enjoyed this book. I read it aloud to my 8 year old and 5 year old and they loved it. In fact, my 5 year old, who has a hard time sitting still for reading time, did an excellent job paying attention to the story and remembered an amazing amount of the story's detail. She brought the book to her kindergarten class for sharing and was able to recount for the other kids much of the story. This was by far our most successful read-aloud experience with her (so far).I have to admit, after the kids went to sleep, I read ahead! It is a kids book but I think any adult will laugh all the way through the book. It is hysterical.

Rating: Summary: Delightful book! Shows the importance of friendship. Review: Delightful book! This story shows the importance of friendship between a little boy and some insects. A Social Studies teacher and a Science teacher could benefit from reading this book to her/his class. A study of insects in Science and a study of travel in Social Studies could be expanded. Great teaching tool for teachers!
