Rating: Summary: This book is the truth of what will happen in the future. Review: Anthem is a realistic look at what will happen in the future. It seems as though instead of moving forward, we will relive all of the bad aspects in history. This book opened up my eyes, and I realize that if we keep acting in the way we do, the world will start to deteriorate.
Rating: Summary: awesome! worth reading Review: I read this book while in high school, and now that i'm in college the urge of reading it again excites me. Anthem is one of the best books ever, just as Fountainhead. Ayn's books just make u think more about yourself as an individual and her books really change my aspect of life.
Rating: Summary: Anthem is about the discovery of the concept "I". Review: When I first started reading Anthem, I didn't understand it at all. I was not mature enough to fully appreciate Anthem's powerful symbolism. When I came to chapter eleven, I read the words "I am." I realized that Equality had freed himself from collectivism.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I think this book is excellent, but I have to make a correction. It really goes like this: Anthem by Ayn Rand inspired "Anthem" by Rush on their Fly By Night album. 2112 was inspired by Rand in general. If you are unsure about this, read the lyrics to Anthem and you will see the light.
Rating: Summary: its a good book get over it! Review: I read this book when I was in the 7th grade. Personally I think it is a really good book because it is about something I enjoy reading about one person. I don't like teams I wrestle which is an individual sport, and I can't stand team sports like basketball which to me seem to teach people that don't worry about it someone else will do it. People also say that the only good thing about this book is that its short. I think that it would be even better if it were longer than that monster Atlas Shrugged but its not so that doesnt matter it is a good book that deserves more credit than it gets. One last thing all of these high school students say they hate it, but think about what it says and it might make you like reading.
Rating: Summary: It's a great book. Review: It's one of the best books I ever read. So many people think that this book was about the future, made believe, and think that she copied Rush 2112.People who lived in a country like America wouldn't believe the events in the story to be true. But it's really mostly facts that has happened in a communism society, like where I was from. It's a easy book. I recommend this book to all.
Rating: Summary: It was her best work! Review: It seems confusing at first, trying to discover who "we" actually is. Once, you figure it out, you then try to imagine never knowing the word "I". It gave me wonderful chills to see one man's struggle and success against the "we". It was my favorite work of hers and I've read all of her fiction books. It may have been short, but it needed to be no longer to make it's powerful point.
Rating: Summary: Profound stuff Review: This book is a quick read and it left quite an impression on me. What is this moronic debate over the Rush 2112 album. Anthem was published in 1946, do the math.
Rating: Summary: Why all this thinking in circles? Review: The method Ayn Rand used (apparently)was to realise her own means of self expression while producing an entertainment.Nobody will achieve freedom like that if all they do is learn it off by heart and argue about who came first.People will be telling us that she never existed at this rate.Incidentally, she seemed to think that the last part of the mind to die is that part which seeks to understand physical reality. When she made the hero a physicist, she was telling people things they don't already know. And probably still don't realise.
Rating: Summary: Just a comment on an earlier review Review: About the copy of Rush 2112. It's actually like this: Neil Peart states that Anthem inspired him to write 2112. So the "original" is Ayn Rand's Anthem.
