Summary: It gave me a whole new meaning of the word "I".
Review: To appreciate this book, you need a mind mature enough to understand what it is saying. I couldn't put the book down. Before I was even finished with it, I was recomending it to everyone. When I was at the end, the word "I" never meant more to me. I always took individualism for granted. I now realize how lucky we are to make our own decisions and have the freedom we all have.

Summary: A deep novel that affects one's views of the world
Review: This is the most inspiring, intelligently woven book that's complicated but still understandable, and its underlying themes generate an allegorical quality. One sympathizes with Equality-2527 as he makes his mental journey through the most forbidden spheres of thought in a dark age where mediocrity is coveted. Then you realize how lucky you are in these days and times. And your perception of freedom will change.

Summary: Good ideas with a short and boring plot.
Review: Aside from the ideas, I didn't like the book very much. Although it was different, it was too confusing to read a book written exclusively in first person plural. The story was too short, not descriptive enough and had a very unconvincing plot. But I suppose Rand's intention wasn't to create an entertaining story. Her intention was to show the negative sides of collectivism and altruism. In which case, this book did an excellent job in accomplishing its goal.

Summary: One of a kind: A timeless statement on individuality
Review: Ayn Rand's Anthem is one of the greatest books ever written. It boldly contradicts the mass of people who wish only to be ants in a collective. Human beings are individuals, and individuals will come to realize it eventually, no matter how hard the collective tries to stamp out consciousness of it. That is the underlying theme of this book.

Summary: The biggest literary serprise of my life!
Review: The single greatest thing in life is free will. But, what if that right was stripped. Not just from one person, but from an entire society. That is the question put before the readers of "Anthem." This truly is one of the most thought provoking books i've ever read. It kept the attention of over one hundred high school students. I reccommend the book to book lovers of all ages.

Summary: It was a little weird, but it was a good book.
Review: I think that this book was pretty good. At the beginning, I thought that it was really weird. The "we" concept was a little hard to grasp. It took me a while to understand that all pronouns were collective, and there were no singular pronouns. As the book went on, I think it got a lot better. This was a very futuristic book, similar to the giver. I think this book is a very good example of what would happen if no one expresses their individuality. I liked that Liberty and Equality ended up together. I also think that something that is very ironic is that all of the names in the book have to do with freedom or individuality, even though the World Council didn't want people to be individual. I also think that it would be cool to read another book by Ayn Rand.

Summary: Good book
Review: I liked the book anthem because of the themes of anti-communism and individuality. I thought it was very interesting how it discussed human nature and how they discovered things from the past that seemed very strange to them but are very normal to us, such as mirrors. IF you feel like reading an interesting book about the restraint of human nature, i suggest Anthem.

Summary: I thought this was an interesting and thought provoking book
Review: I would give Anthem 3 out of 5 stars. It was a very interesting and powerful book. The main character's name is Equality 7-2521. He is a very intelligent street sweeper wanting to be a scholar in an intellectually repressed society. This book most likely takes place in the future after a worldwide disaster. This man enjoys experimenting (illegally) with lightbulbs which haven't been "invented" yet. After showing the "light box" to the council of scholars, he is heavily repremanded. Equality 7-2521 then escapes into the uncharted forest where he discovers many things with his companion Liberty 5-3000. Their most important discovery is the discovery of the forbidden word ego. This book's theme is human individualality. People in this society do not have any individualality. They are assigned strange names, do not have any family, and are not allowed to talk to the opposite sex. Probably the most strange and confusing part of the book Anthem is its use of the word we. For a large portion of the book we is used instead of I becausre of the society's beliefs. 3 out of 5 stars.

Summary: The aliens read this book!
Review: It was the middle of the day in Nevada. We looked into the sky and suddenly, saw many flashing lights! An alien spaceship landed on the ground and weird creatures came out. They were blue and slimy. One of them pointed a giant gun of some sort at us while another went into my house. He returned holding or rather, absorbing the copy of Anthem I had been reading. "HEY!" I shouted! But, the alien with the gun pointed it at me and I shut up. The aliens returned to their ship and left.
