Rating: Summary: This was probably the book thant made me think the most. Review: At the beggining of the book I was very confused about the meaning of the book, I tried to understand the message it was giving out so i had to start it all over. When i did start it over, i realized it was very "deep thought". It is a sad and touching book and i couldn't put it down since i knew in the end this man was going to end up finding himself. That's what the story is mainly about, a man trying to find himself, trying to find a way of life he can fit into. His accomplishment in this book, is by far the biggest accomplishment i've ever heard of, and yet it's somehting we don't seem to notice...how important it is to be an individual and how fulfilling it is to say "I". I loved the book, i highly reccomend it.
Rating: Summary: A provocative book Review: I would recomend this book to anyone that likes to read about anything that is thought-provoking. Personally I dont like books that require a lot of thought to fully understand it. Its basically about a society thats collectivistic, the word "I" doesnt exist so every one talks of "we" and "us", the society has a stong society that is communistic. Its interesting.
Rating: Summary: Anthem's review Review: Anthem is a great book. It's about a society that its not allowed to say "I" because there shouldn't be any individual. This book is a biography of equality wich represents the frustation that he goes through in this society. I really recommend this book to all the people who are felling rejected because it shows you how that guy got rid of the problems so that might help you.
Rating: Summary: The book was ok Review: The book Anthem by Ayn Rand is a very good back and it is worth taking the time to read it. The main idea of the book is that everyone is part of a society in which everyone is equal and individuality doesn't exist. The characters in the book have a code name because common names mean individuality and individually doesn't exist. The plot of the book is the change from one society to another one which is very different from the one that it had started.
Rating: Summary: A book that will expand your thoughts about the future. Review: Anthem, a book that will expand not only your thoughts about the future but it will also expand your imagination. This is the story of a man who lives in the near future, the story of Equality, and his escape from this society. This is a thought provoking. It gives you a view of the future that you could never imagine or think about. This book is recommended for non-believers of the future and for believers. It is great book to read.
Rating: Summary: Anthem is a very well-written, thought-provoking book. Review: I believe this is a great book. This book deals with issues that have been thought, debated and defended many times, collectivism vs. individualism. It's a great book to read, it shows another point-of-view at our everyday, dog-eat-dog, egoistic society. Take a break from e-business and read it to find out new knowledge on you own lives, how you really think and what our capitalist society really is like.
Rating: Summary: I realized how important independence is. Review: "Anthem" is by far the best book I've ever read. I think Ayn Rand wrote a great novel, and made the pressure towards the society strong enough to make the reader feel it also. It made me become Equality 7-2521 for a couple of hours. I felt trapped just like he did through out the book. It teaches you about a society without selfishness, which you might think is good, but really isn't. It shows no independence, or choice of freedom throughout the book.
Rating: Summary: An incredible futuristic book Review: Anthem reflects the philosophy of the author. She highlights the importance of being an individual by bringing it out in the book. With this she tries to teach the reader a lesson. The main character feels overwhelmed when he discovers the importance of being one but doesn't take into consideration what would happen if his new created world became too concerned about being an individual.
Rating: Summary: This book was very inspirational Review: "Anthem", by Ayn Rand, is a book clearly intended in showing the chaos of a society that decides everyone's fate, and an individual that goes against this cause. I think this book is important for everyone that doesn't appreciate the society they are living in, so they can see the horrors of a godless and corrupt society.
Rating: Summary: This is an excellent book Review: Anthem is a wonderful novel. I really enjoyed it. It is about a person who breaks away from a collectivist society. It is a statement of individuality. It made me realize how free and open-minded our society really is. It has really changed the way I look at selfishness. It is a great philosophical book
