Summary: If you like suspense this book is for you.
Review: Dying for Chocolate is based in Evergreen Co. Most of the story takes place in a high class neiborhood in the middle of the summer. The main character is local caterer Goldy Bear. She has a curious investigative personality, for searching for the truth. The story begins with a gruesome murder. The victim was a close friend of Goldy's and one she cared for. Goldy is determined to find the killer. As the story unravels she gets pulled more and more into the case. She ends up doing some things that could her and her beloved son killed. This is a great suspense story, some of the parts I couldn't stop reading and put the book down. The reason I said "Some parts" was because the middle got really dull and I had to push myself to finish. This is also the reason I took 2 points of the rating. Otherwise I loved the book recomened this book to almost everybody. I have to say the thing I liked most was that Davidson's books are so real. All of her story events are things that could happen in real life.

Summary: A great way to spend a day!
Review: Goldy Bear is not only a great character, but about the only inspiration since Christmas for getting out into the kitchen and whipping up something great from a new recipe! The character Goldy is a hoot with her stubborn inquisitiveness. A Jessica Fletcher with a twist, she always is around when there's trouble, or vice versa. She is an every day *real* woman that readers can identify with even when her situations are unreal. You'll want to hold her hand to help her through her problems (and a plate of her brownies would be great too!) A fun turn into the world of mystery. Put on a pot of coffee and curl up with your favorite sweets while you *whip* through Goldy's adventure

Summary: a clever murder
Review: Good characters. Good plot. The novel starts with a clever murder. Prior to reading this novel, I'd only liked mysteries by Agatha Christie and Poe. I'd definitely like to read more books in this series. I only had a few qualms about this book. Too much of the novel passed without the certainty that there had been a murder; in effect, there was little sleuthing in the first half. I would have preferred if the murderer had been caught differently. This ending/capture is not very original.

Summary: Delicious!
Review: I am not much of a fiction reader, but I thoroughly enjoyed the book so much that I will definitely be reading more of Diane Mott Davidson's books.

I found that the mystery in this book was great from trying to figure out how the person could have been murdered to the surprise of who the murderer was and the lengths to which they would go.

After finishing this book I asked myself "How could I have missed so many little clues that later explained everything?" With the exception of a small story line - about bad cooking reviews - everything that you read as the story builds up, seems necessary and ties together nicely at the end.

I plan on trying a couple of the recipes on my family and friends - don't tell them please. My only warning about this novel is, don't read it while you are hungry.

Summary: Not so tasty
Review: I enjoyed Davidson's first culinary mystery, but this one left a bad taste in my mouth. The method of murder was just too implausable to be believed. Also, Davidson is really stretching it trying to make us believe a caterer in a small Colorado town happens to bump into so many people with scandalous pasts, murderous intentions and access to various poisons. Arch and Tom Schultz both annoy me. I don't know what Goldy sees in Tom, and Arch needs a smack across the mouth! Someone needs to shake Goldy, come to think of it, for letting her son get away with so much!

Too bad. I really wanted to like this series, but I'm not inspired to read any more Davidson novels.

Summary: I thought I had done a review on this already! Bad Book!
Review: I had read this book last year and I thought I had done a review on it, but I will tell you what I think about this book. I am an avid mystery and thrillers, suspense, and romantic suspense reader. This book did not appeal to me what so ever. The mystery was not as fast paced as I liked it, and this is the first book I have read by her. I will definitely not buy another one. This has a slow-paced plot and unreal characters, so, sorry Dianne, you didn't do a good job!

Summary: Great Title but not enough
Review: I have enjoyed this series but I was quite dissapointed with this book. The title is attractive. The beginning of the book and the plot development is fine. But the further I got into the book, the more far-fetched the plot. The first half of the book was well written and the who-dunnit solution was unplausable. I felt like Davidson didn't know how to end her story and rushed it. But don't judge the whole series on this one book.
