Summary: This book will amaze any serious reader.
Review: Unfortunatly, I do not have the time or the imagination of Tolstoy, and I will keep my review brief and to the point. After reading quite a few Dostoevsky novels, I finally decided to sink my teeth into Anna K. I had read excerts and interpretations, and I had a feeling I would enjoy it, but I had no idea how wonderful it would be. The writing is brilliant. The themes are deep and thought provoking, but, of coarse, and above all, the characters are magnificent. I have told all my reading friends to immediatly halt what they are reading and read Anna K. No one could be disappointed.

Summary: A must read
Review: This book turned out to be fairly easy to read. The book talked about several Russian families. I was touched by the book. It was fast paced, and there was not that much describions. That was a great quality that does not exist in many classic books.

Summary: Perfect.
Review: I just finished reading this book, I have no idea why I waited so long to pick it up. This is by far one of my favorite novels. Tolstoy had an exceptional talent of creating a myriad of characters and keeping them completely separate entities. The story of each life reads as though it were written by completely different people. I have never been so emotionally engrossed in a book before. Tolstoy's brilliant grasp on human nature is evident throughout the book. I am totally in awe of his talent.

Summary: A rich tapestry of human interaction
Review: I truly enjoyed this work. The sheer beauty of the writing and the characterisation make the heart burst with emotions. Do, do take the time to read this work. You will not regret it and you will be changed!

Summary: How do you abridge a work of art??????
Review: Anna Karenina is probably the single most moving work of literature ever written. Tolstoy is a master of his craft. After working on this book for several years- molding and trying to understand Anna and create both her and Levin so that they could both be the inspiring characters they have become- Tolstoy finally completed his work and created an equivalent to the Mona Lisa! I love Anna Karenina- every character so real, Tolstoy's message so clear. I've read this book several times and have found it to be more fulfilling each time- every meticulously composed passage so brilliant and beutiful! Thus, I could not give any version of Anna Karenina any less than five stars. However, I do not believe justice can be done to Tolstoy or his years of dedication in creating Anna by abridging his work. I know its a long book but trust me its worth the time and effort! Read the real thing- this simply cannot do it justice.

Summary: Beautiful book
Review: This book is beautiful. I've read it four times and watch this muvie two times. All the time it made me cry. And I've read a lot of other books that are sad(124). Read it and you'll love it.

Summary: A tragic love story of imperial Russian society
Review: What could be better than a beautiful young woman torn by love and responsibility? Nothing, as shown in Leo Tolstoy's captivating romance, Anna Karenina. The reader is whirled into the novel by the maelstrom of a story of lust, infidelity, high society, and politics during 1870's Russia. The character will glide through different emotions - from supporting Anna's relationship with the handsome Vronsky to sympathizing with her cold husband, Alexei Karenin, to finally concluding that Konstantine Levin is the only decent character in the whole book. (It is interesting to note that Tolstoy compared himself to Levin!) Read this and be drowned in an utterly unforgettable tale.

Summary: Keeps up the good name of Russian authors
Review: This is an excellent book keeping in with the tradition of russian authors. The book gives an excellent description of erstwhile russia. The characters are very much alive and the extraordinary point of this novel is though its bittersweet and full of tragic incidents, there is no scope for hating any character except may be ironically the heroine- ANNA. This says a lot for the author.

Somehow, I couldn't find the character of ANNA upto my test. I don't defend Karenin but I do think he deserved a better deal. Everyone has his own way of loving others and that is something one should but rarely does accept. Also Vronsky, though is portrayed a shallow young man with a good heart, he doesn't evoke sympathy from the readers.

All in all too much emphasis on love and not understandably so.

Summary: Russian Literature
Review: Beautiful. Fabulous. Lucious. Wonderful. Magical. Dirty. Leo Tolstoy was a great writer. No other writer could have brought out the pain and torture we felt for Anna, and the pain and torture we had while trying to complete this monsterous book.
