Summary: It's such an interesting topic
Review: i have consumed all the books in the series and couldn't wait to get Armageddon. The writing is simplistic, but there is just something about these books that hold my interest, I was hardly unable to put the book down. My only beef is that the ending wasn't satisfying. Will be looking for the next installment.

Summary: While I wait for Glorious Appearing
Review: I am a HUGE fan of Left Behind! I've been reading since December 1995 and even have first printings of all 11 Left Behind books in near mint condition -- my prized possessions! I've read the series all the way through 6 times and will do it again just before Glorious Appearing is released in March 2004. Anyway, I've been seing all the recommendations for In His Image by James BeauSeigneur and then I saw him on the Harvest Show on TV. Just to check it out, I bought the book and it really is a GREAT book. It's not at all like Left Behind even though it's about the end times. Instead you see things more from the perspective of non Christians who don't know what's hapening because things aren't as obvious as they are in Left Behind. Anyway, it looks like a really good series and all three books will be out before Glorious Appearing comes out in March, so it give me some exciting reading while I wait.Also recommended: In His Image: Book 1 of The Christ Clone Trilogy

Summary: stick a pitchfork in it, its over.
Review: They've lost it. Tim & Jerry had a GREAT gripping, and wonderful soap opera all the way up books 9, Remnant pretty much signaled to me they don't know what to do with the series. It was a poorly written book, with no real purpose other than to sell the series. Armageddon is *worse*, they don't know what to do with the stories. I *loved* the interactions in the earlier books, the land they set up in the earlier books was rich, and fun (as fun as the rapture can be), and really kept me reading. Now, as expected, humans cannot really imagine the end of times as we know it, and this book proves it. Virtually all the book is devoted to preaching, no story. Why couldn't they have done it like the earlier books?? Everything was integrated with a story, it actually made me pick up a bible, and read Ephesians -- this book is just... blah. We should start a petition to redo it, and Remnant for that matter. I'm really sad the series has gone to the wayside. I'll remain a solid fan of the previous books though.

Summary: Armageddon: The Cosmic Battle of the Ages
Review: This book, like the past few, has been a big disappointment. This series started off with a bang, it was very exciting and a real page turner but the authors have lost the original tempo of the series and now it has become very preachy and long winded. The whole story line of the characters has become incredibly hokey. I use to recommend this series to people but now I can't without warning them about how bad the last few books have been. I think they could have wrapped this series up a couple of books ago but it looks to me as if it has been dragged on so they can sell more books.

Summary: Drawing close to Christ!
Review: Christian authors have different ideas on how Biblical prophecy will occur. Whether it's Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins' LEFT BEHIND series or James BeauSeigneur's CHRIST CLONE TRILOGY, the areas of agreement are much greater than where they disagree. Yes the focus is different - LEFT BEHIND looks at the end times through the eyes of believers and the CHRIST CLONE TRILOGY looks through the eyes of unbelievers - but where it's important, they're in agreement. The most exciting thing is that through these books (and other end times books) Christians are drawing close to Christ and nonChristians are hearing the Gospel and many are accepting Christ!

Summary: Armagarbage
Review: More than the series, I have most enjoyed reading the reviews. Some are much better written than the Left Behind books. Since no one had given No. 11 one star, I just had to give my two-cents worth. Yes, I have read some of the series. Enough already. Not only are the books literary garbage--even many of the four and five-star reviews agree on that point--but the theology proclaimed by the series is weak, to put it nicely.

Summary: Armageddon
Review: This book is awesome! Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins put the themes together in ways that allows the reader to be there. Some people might think that Chloe's capture and subsequent treatment is spread out through too many chapters; however, by doing this, the authors demonstrate the great faith and strength it would take for people to endure the results of choosing Jesus during the tribulation or at anytime in life when there is persecution for faith in Christ.
The overall theme of the book of course, is the beginning of Armageddon in the Jehoshaphat Valley (Megiddo), and as the war begins, the reader feels the urgency of the main characters to have the ultimate return of Christ occur simultaneously with this event. But, since no one can pick the time of Christ's return, the author's demonstrate the characters doing their duty; instead of not being ready.
I can't wait for the next book!

Review: Overview/Summary of book...
Armageddon, the 11th book of the Left Behind Series, picks up with darkness covering Babylon, Tsion Ben-Judah preaching in Petra, and some of the Trib Force, Buck and Chloe in a San Diego hideout. Most of the book deals with the Trib Force running from the GC, some getting caught...and Nicolae preparing to amass his armies in the Valley of Meggido.
There are still believers, including computer expert, Chang stuck at the palace in Babylon, needing rescuing. Rayford shows up, as the believers can see in this darkness, to pick up Chang, then run into other believers. Meanwhile, the GC are hunting for the Trib Force in San Diego. One character goes out and gets captured, leading to looking for them, and planning a rescue.
Likes: Fast paced reading with a few unexpected twists concerning Trib Force members. Some gruesome and probably realistic scenes that will take place during the tribulation are mentioned. Dislikes: Well toward the end of the book, the armies are at the Valley of Meggido, and also advancing on Jerusalem and Petra. But I'm not seeing much action as far as the military scenes go. Lahaye and Jenkins mention tanks, but most of the armies are on horses, which the Bible mentions, but I figure there would be more weapons and armament set up. Basically, unless a good chunk of the Battle of Armageddon continues into the next book, you will be disappointed in the conflict. Finally, this book was better than the Remnant. Lots of unexpected happenings with the good guys. Will we see the Trib Force members survive until the Glorious Appearing?

Summary: The quality just hasn't held up
Review: I enjoyed the first Left Behind quite a bit. I didn't think that it was brilliant or anything, but it contained some decent writing and some interesting ideas. Unfortunately, as the scenerio continues to get dragged out, I can't help but think that this is an idea that should have been held back to two or three books. The authors just don't seem to have enough ideas to cover eleven books. As a result, plotlines are rehashed here, characters don't go anywhere, and there is nary an interesting idea in the whole novel. When you compare it to a masterpiece like We All Fall Down by Brian Caldwell, it just seems way too flimsy and somewhat pointless. Caldwell's novel says something and gives you more to think about in two pages then Armageddon gives you in an entire novel. If you're looking for a Christian soap opera, I suppose that this isn't bad- I can't think of any other reason that I bought and read this- but if you're looking for a book to inspire and challenge you as a Christian, look elsewhere.

Summary: One of the BEST of the Left Behind books!
Review: I've read all eleven...and can't wait for #12. ARMAGEDDON was fast paced and riveting. I read all 383 pages in less than a 24-hour time frame. I couldn't put it down! Chloe captured! What will be her fate? And who died in the literal cliff-hanger? Rayford or Buck? What a masterfully sneaky use of the word "he". Bah-humbug to the grumblers who say the series is too long...or that the entire story isn't contained in one large book. The LEFT BEHIND series has brought me closer to God by vicariously experiencing the characters' resolve, strength, and FAITH in the face of pain, fear, and even death. One thing I particularly liked in ARMAGGEDON was the re-explaining of each different End-Time judgment. Like most people, Revelations has always been a puzzle, so the LEFT BEHIND series has truly been a God-send for explaining the meaning of each Bowl Judgment, color of Horse, etc. I also appreciate that LaHaye and Jenkins don't paint a rosy picture of things being all hunky-dory for God's kids. Bad things happen to us, too. The only difference between us and the world is that we can survive rough times because of the strength from Jesus, the comfort of the Comforter, and the hope of the Glorious Appearing! Excellent explanation to Jewish people why Jesus is the Messiah. Excellent explanation of how, and why, to accept Jesus as your personal Savior. Wish I could have given it Ten Stars!
