Rating: Summary: Grinding to a standstill Review: I accidentally stumbled upon Left Behing two years ago in an airport bookstore, since I needed something to read on the airplane. Coincidentally the Rapture occurs while Rayford is flying in a commercial jet. The story hooked me immensely, even though I am not a Christian and have very little Bible knowledge. I took the stories as easy to read, with fast moving plot lines with somewhat believable characters. What happened after the first five or six books is a mystery to me. From nearly counting the weeks till the next volume was released, by the time armageddon popped up, i only bought it by seeing it in the grocery store. The book was fairly awful from beginning to end. The endless pages of scripture and preaching were cumbersome and completely unoriginal. The characters did very little throughout the book that was new, unless it was stupid. The main characters at the beginning have completely changed into boring, if not dead shells of themselves. In the first three novels, Buck was an amazing character with fire and intelligence. Now he might as well be one of the mindless Carpathians. On a side note, did anyone else get botheres by the fact that Chaim and Buck met face to face with Carpathia (in book 7 or 8) and were not recognized? They were his two best friends for Pete's sake! I confess that I will buy the last book, and make LaHaye and Jenkins richer, but its for closure on my end, not because I hope to learn anything about Christianity. I can pick up a Bible and make my own interpretations of it. And if the authors do read these (which I'm sure they do not), can you guys please save a tree and single space your pages, and leave out the drawn-out scripture that will be skipped by most readers looking for the meat of your killed plotlines. This reminds me of when the Fonz jumped the shark on Happy Days. Time to retire this enterprise!!
Rating: Summary: Let's Move It Along Shall We? Review: I have read every book in the series, so far, but my patience is wearing thin. Tyndale et al. are milking their cash cow for all its worth. From book six on the authors have been dragging their heels, by either having the characters become moody and self-absorbed for pages on end. Or they start ridiculous cliff-hangers with characters refusing to answer their cell-phones and other rot. I have read this series for two reasons. One is see pre-millenialism fleshed out. Two is to see some interesting characters say and do some provocative things that might challenge my thinking. But its starting to get pretty clunky. Advance the plot!
Rating: Summary: Excellent in the series Review: Having read all ten of the Left Behind series (all 5 stars!), book 11 - Armageddon was just as exciting. It was realistic having a couple key "believers" die in this book. I liked the was it ended without you knowing exactly which man died. I wish I didn't have to wait until spring 2004 before reading book 12. Keep up the good work, Tim and Jerry!!
Rating: Summary: Very Good Story Review: I think Armageddon is a very good story, but not the best of the 11 books so far. The murder of some of the main characters was sad but was a great turn of events in this already fantastic series. I can't wait until Glorious Appearing. Until the 12th book is available, I also recommend Jacob's Trouble: A Story of the Tribulation ...
Rating: Summary: these books are tribulation enough! Review: This is my first online review so I'll be breif. The Left behind series is awful. just plain awful. Armageddon is a case in point. Jenkins should go back to school and learn how to write. he spends half the book drawing out a simple plot that should have been covered in 2 chapters. the rest of the book is not stop preaching. BORING! the end was hopelessly confusing and made no sense. I will not even buy book #12 but I will rent it from the Library. I have better junk to waste money on.
Rating: Summary: Armageddon Book Review Review: In the eleventh book of the Left Behind series, Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye created another literary artwork. The Tribulation Force is scattered throughout the world. New members emerge from the shadows, while some members are lost to the Anti-Christ. New love is sparked between members and other relationships dissolve when members of the Trib Force are forced to relocate to different areas because of the security breaches inside of the palace in New Babylon. As the world prepares for global war and the battle of the ages, the members at Petra gather and unite to defend themselves against the wrath of the Anti-Christ. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from page one. Throughout this series, I haven't been able to wait for the next book because of the cliffhangers that the authors throw in at the end of each book. Each cliffhanger forces the reader to pursue the story into the next book.
Rating: Summary: something to clense the mind. Review: 4zJ?? soooo much fun reading this series. For someone who has only read a few books it is shocking to those who know me that I am always waiting for the next book. Some are kink of slow and maybe a little repeditive but some are really action packed and leave me on the edge of my chair. Good message and something to sink my mind into so the world has less time to corrupt it.
Rating: Summary: Armageddon Review: Does not meet the expectation as set-up by the previous books. Not enough dialogue on the anit-christ and the people who are being saved, poorly written last 100 pages. If the authors are trying to keep true to Revelation they have totally missed out on the interpretation of this biblical book and what truely is believed to happen in the end times.
Rating: Summary: Love it Review: I couldnt put this book down. I dont care what any one says. If you believe in God and the bible you will love this book. To bad there are not more opened minded people in this world. That would except the truth. Because this will happen one day.
Rating: Summary: Mixed feelings Review: Ok, publication of this series of books is taking longer than the seven years alloted for the Great Tribulation! Hence, the three stars. While I'm hooked and will probably read the last book (unless Jenkins and LaHaye decide to stretch it further), I continue to be annoyed and wearied by the wide margins and line-spacing that allows these books to be dragged on and on in the interest of marketing and profits and little else. However, I have to say that the end of this book with the band of tired and depleted original Trib Force members watching and waiting for the appearance of Christ was quite thrilling and if indeed the next book is the last, it should be a good one. This series of books has had a life of it's own and if the stories have caused people to go to the Scriptures and search for the truth that's all to the good, but enough already - please bring it to an end and stop with the marketing ploys. Continuing to publish books easily read in a couple of hours at 20 bucks a pop has ceased to be good stewardship on the part of these undoubtedly sincere people and makes me concerned that it will do more harm than good to the cause of Christ.
