Rating: Summary: Children's Literature at it's height Review: A few weeks ago, I got really sick of today's children's literature. I had read enough mysteries and trashy books about romance to last me a lifetime. So I wanted something else to read, something well-written with a good plot and lifelike characters. I had to look no further than the first book I picked up- Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery. Anne of Green Gables is the first book in the Anne of Green Gables series. It takes place, as most of L. M. Montgomery's books do, on Prince Edward Island in Canada. This particular story takes place in the town of Avonlea. It follows young Anne Shirley, an orphan brought to Green Gables to help Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert on their farm. Much to Anne's dismay, Marilla tells her that they wanted a boy to help around the farm, not a girl. However, Marilla changes her mind and decides to keep the dynamic young girl who would become Anne of Green Gables. This novel is incredibly written, with well-developed characters and an intricate plot. I absolutely loved it. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great example of children's literature at its height.
Rating: Summary: Anne Of The Green Gabels Review: This book is one of the best. It is also one of the books in my collection.Anne Of The Green Gabels is a motivated and inspiring book.It is about a girl named Anne who stands up for everyone. The time period of the book is,"When Children Are Heard And Not Seen." Anne really makes it a point to help and stand up for everyone. This book is so good, you will never put it down.I can't give away the story because the book is that good.
Rating: Summary: It is not often noted how hilarious Anne is! Review: I read all the Anne of Green Gables books as an adult. I read them recently, back to back, checking out 4 at a time from the library! While I agree that the books are wonderful beyond words, I also wanted to point out that they are really funny! (Something that was missed in the movie, by the way.) I laughed and cried all the way through them!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful and enchanting story! Review: I really enjoyed this book. It's a very charming tale for people of all ages. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Real empathy Review: This book was so good I actually finished it in one sitting. Anne is so charming, though by today's standards she would seem like the biggest suck up ever, but she does it out of sincerity, and considering the time period, its very good and hilarious at times. After I read it, I was so enthralled into the her that I actually thought I was Anne for a couple seconds. The movie is good if not better, its funnier, for sure, and Megan Fallows is the perfect choice for Anne. The Anne and Gilbert relationship may have been overplayed, but it is still worth watching.
Rating: Summary: A greatly written book. Review: This was a great book. I loved it very much. It feels like it is true when u r reading it. It brings u 2 a different time, maybe @ a different place. In this book u learn of many new people that Anne and Gilbert Blythe meet. They learn of the past in these peoples lives and meet "kindred Spirits." I greatly enjoyed this book. I recommend it 2 anyone who has an imagination.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books ever, a true classic!! Review: I have read this whole "Anne" series three times and plan on reading them again one day. They are true classics and I think you are missing out on one of life's pleasures if you do not read these books! They are my favorites as they make me laugh, cry and all in all feel a little different about life. Yes, one could say they are life altering. I want my daughter to read these books. These are treasures that should be handed down from generation to generation. Reading a book by Ms. Montgomery is a gift that one should be thankful for. Anne is such a wonderful character that she becomes your friend and you will never forget her. The daily life of Anne seems pretty simple but yet it is riveting and you never want to stop reading about her. Each character is brought to life in such a way that you marvel at the talent this author had. It is one of those rare books that you must stop reading periodically to catch your breath and I found myself reading certain parts over and over. I highly recommend this series to young and old alike as it is timeless! Is it not amazing how this author had to use no bad language, graphic, shocking violence or sexuality to create a riveting story? She writes only of a young orphan girl's life and those she encounters along the way and we are mesmerized. Not many authors like that any more.

Rating: Summary: Anne of Green Gables Review: This is the first book in the Anne of Green Gables series. The first time i read this book was in 6th grade, i've read it many times since then(i own it). And each time I read it, the more i like it. Before I read this book, i didn't think i would like it because it's a classic. But, one of my friends convinced me to read it. And it became one of my favorite books and still is. In this book, eleven year old Anne, who is an orphan, comes to live with a brother and sister who own a farm. The problem? They wanted a boy to help out on their farm. But, Anne wins them over with her sparkling personality. Even if she does seem to be a maganet for trouble. This is one of those books that you want to go on forever. Good thing, there's plenty of sequals. An excellent book.
