Rating: Summary: Anne of Green Gables Review: I recently read a book called "Anne of Green Gables" by L.M.Montgomery. It is a very interesing and exciting book to read. Here's a little bit about the book. The main character is Anne. Anne was born into a very poor family and is sent to an orphange. She is adopted by Mr.and Mrs.Culbert. Anne is very adventurous and imaginative girl. She lives in a very small farming town. Not many people live in the town. There she finds a new best friend and her name is Diana. They are the best of friends. I recommend this book if you like adventures and funny stories.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Children's Classic Review: I like this book because it is interesting, exciting, and funny. I loved reading it, and it is very easy to read. Anne is a wonderful character, and she is a very spunky orphan. She gets into all kinds of adventures and scrapes children will love reading about. I love this book, and I think other children will too.
Rating: Summary: An Enjoyable, Surprising Classic Review: When I first began to think ofreading Anne of Green Gables, I thought of it as a boring, slow read classic. But, as soon as I read its first words and learned the story of Anne Shirley, it captivated me and made me read on. Anne has such a wonderful way of looking at the world and life. She taught me so much. Even though Anne is a fictional character, she still makes you smile and laugh. Luch Maud Montgomery did a superb job at making her fabulous charaters come to life.I would reccomend this book to anyone who loves to smile. It is great for all ages, whether your a begginning reader, a parent reading with your child, or an advanced reader(like me!). This book is a heartfelt classic and I yearn to read all of the Anne Shirly accounts by L.M. Montgomery.
Rating: Summary: Anne of Geen Gables a review by Nicole Review: By, L.M.Montgomery Little Anne had never belonged anywhere until she came to Green Gables. But even though her going there was a mistake, she felt like she belonged. Not belonging anywhere since she was a baby Anne was determined to stay. You see, the Cuthbert's asked for a strong boy to help around the farm. But instead got a pale faced little girl. Marilla Cuthbert told her brother Mathew that she had to go. But being the kind-hearted soul he was, he talked Marilla out of her idea and into the idea of letting her stay but only for a little while. The idea of Anne staying for a little while wore off and they decided to keep her. They had both gotten attached to her but were afraid to tell her. When Marilla finally told Anne she could stay Anne went to explore. She had decided her first day at Green Gables that since she wasn't staying that she wouldn't get attached to it. So if she did go, it wouldn't be hard to leave Green Gables. Anne made a lot of friends and grew to love the place. But she also made two enemies and their names were Gilbert Blythe and Josie Pye. Gilbert was mean to her and Josie was just plain rude. As soon as Gilbert made fun of her, she got mad and broke her writing slate over his head. From then on the two of them fought about everything. He apologized to her several times, but she was stubborn. When they both wanted to teach at the Avalon School Gilbert gave the school to Anne when it was promised to him. From then on Anne was friendly with everyone, including the rude Josie Pye. But her troubles in life don't end with the book, it goes on through out the whole series. Anne might make a ton of mistakes, but she has her own way of correcting them just like me!
Rating: Summary: Yet Another Summary of 'Anne of Green Gables'... Review: When Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt a boy to help with the farm work they get more than they bargained for. As a result of a bizarre series of mistakes ("If you want something done right you have to do it your self," Marilla wryly remarks.) the orphan standing on their doorstep is not a boy at all. In fact, Anne Shirley is as far from a boy as you could possibly get. Anne, a spunky, red-haired girl of eleven, with an imagination the size of Texas, is not only not a boy; there is no end to the awkward and often comical scrapes she gets herself into, including jumping into bed on top of old Mrs. Barry, the crankiest old woman imaginable. Then there's the handsome Gilbert Blythe, who will be forever sorry for teasing Anne about her hair. And when the Avonlea School holds a concert, you can bet Anne is right in the thick of it. But whether she's flavoring a cake with liniment instead of vanilla, or dying her hair bright green, she will always be the same irrepressable (irresponsible) Anne of Green Gables.
Rating: Summary: Classic Review: The Anne of Green Gables series is an all time favorite of mine. I've read them all, including Montgomery's othere series Emily of New Moon. These are wonderful books for young girls. Anne is passionate, imaginative and independent. I look forwarding to giving these books for my daughter when she is old enough to read them.
Rating: Summary: Project Review Review: Anne of Green Gables is book that puts a humorous outlook on growing up. At first, Anne has a violent temper, she is extremely vain, talkative and she is always imagining things and getting into scrapes. Towards the end of the book, her temper, imagination, talkativeness, and vanity die down. Everyone goes through the same types of transformation as they grow up, and although people do not do the same things she did, the level of transformation is the same. This book is a great read; it is humorous and at the same time a feel good type book. This book will keep you wondering what will happen next through out the whole thing.
Rating: Summary: Great!!!! Review: This book was wonderful once you got past the first 30 or 40 pages. This book makes you think about things in a different way. I would recconmend this book to any body.
Rating: Summary: So wonderful it brought tears to my eyes Review: I have read many books in my lifetime, and I must say, without a doubt, this is my favorite. When Mathew Cuthbert goes to pick up his and his sister's, Marilla Cuthbert, adopted child, he finds out she is a girl. They consider not keeping her, but soon they decide that she can stay a Green Gables. Marilla slowly loves the imaginitive high spirited girl more and more each day. Anne encounters many adventures from the age of 11 to 16. This book was so good, I found my heart bursting with joy. I would reccomend this to any girls and women. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Highly Recommended Review: In Anne Shirley(love that name!) LM Montgomery created a classic young female protagonist that frequently gets into "scrapes",hates being called "Carrots" because of her red hair and is a non-stop talker as well. The writing itself is so fresh and funny that I forgot that I was reading a century old book. Not that it matters, as good writing is timeless. I hope you enjoy Anne and beautiful Prince Edward Island as much I did..
