Rating: Summary: A Magnificent Tribute to Dreams, Freindship and Imagination Review: Pick this book up and your spirits will follow. I can see Avonlea as if I were there. Lucy Maud Montgomery has painted a canvas and made it come alive with warm, thoughtful, imaginative characters. Anne Shirley and the rest of the cast will grab your hearts and not let go. I first read this book when I was a girl and I have read it over and over since then never tiring of Anne's adventures or misadventures (whichever you prefer). A truly wonderful story!!
Rating: Summary: A moving story about an orphan who gave of herself to others Review: I thought it was a great book because I loved the pictures, plus the girl in the book was very kind and gentle. It had a biography about her life, from when she was 12 to 18.I really liked that it had pictures on every page. Her father Matthew died which was sad, but the ending was happy.
Rating: Summary: It's very touching! Review: It's a story about Anne's new life with her new family and friends. Anne was always full of dreams and imagination. She was an orphan, so she had lived in a orphanage. One day, she was brought to Green Gables where Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert lived. Actually they wanted a boy who could help farming, so they were confused, but they decided to bring up her. Anne caused a lot of happenings, so Matthew and Marilla were nervous about her. However, they came to like her character very much and regard her as a member of their family by degree without their knowing it. Moreover, they came to be proud of her. I thought this book was touching because I felt Matthew and Marilla's affection for Anne. I think we Japanese are short of affection of a family, so I became aware of value of family. Then, I like Matthew's character in paticular. I thought the scene he tried to buy a dress for Anne was funniest. Why don't you try to read it? I think even boys are moved and enjoy a lot. Even if you have read it before, I recommend you read it whenever you feel you are lacking in love in your life!
Rating: Summary: AN ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY BEAUTIFUL,SUBTLE ROMANCE Review: I really don't know how I am going to review this book. Putting something so beautifully alive into cold, brutal words has never been my forte. It seemed committing some kind of sacrilege, but nevertheless I felt something of loyalty to do so. Basically this sweet, innocent tale is about an orphan girl- Anne Shirley and the countless scapes that she seems to have a talent for getting into. Her beautiful, friendship with Diana Barry, friend, not to mention enemies at school, especially a certain significant one- Gilbert Blythe whom she will share a very special comradeship with and later on in life become his wife. This classic also tells about her wonderful flights of fancy, and the many enchanting places where she and Diana often build castles in the air. This touching, heartwarming tale has been spun so cleverly that Anne and her successors really do live! I can live and relive Anne's world over and over again, not once finding it tiresome. This beautiful, timeless classic is naturally the masterpiece of the Dreamer of Dreams- Lucy Maud Montgomery, whom I sincerely admire, for as she says " For things seen pass away, but the things that are unseen are eternal" Anne of the Island
Rating: Summary: A Heart-warming tale!! Review: This book tells about a young orphan girl, named Anne Shirley. She is a red-headed girl who is mischeivious and full of imagination. But once she moves in with Marilla and Matthew, she has problems to face. In school, she's teased because of her red hair and wishes it would change black. Also, Marilla wants to get rid of her. Anne also meets a friend, who she will stay in touch with forever. Once you start reading it, you won't put it down! If you really like the story, I suggest the other books of Anne which are continuations of this story.
Rating: Summary: most wonderful, enchanting story of the most lovely girl,Anne Review: It's simply the best heartwarming story I have ever read. Anne is a sweet girl full of dreams that are transmited to everyone by her sympathy, love, and friendship. I recommend it to everyone, specially those that haven't let go of dreams and joys of life.
Rating: Summary: All time favourite Review: Once in a life time you find someone or something that takes after your own heart ,something that comes in the "Soul mate" category.Well that's what Anne of Green Gables is to me ,A soul mate.I have read it more than 50 times and that is not an exaggeration only the truth. And I continue to read it every time "My soul gets starved for a kindred spirit".Anne Shirley,Gilbert Blythe,Diana Barry,Priscilla Grant,Stella Maynard,Philippa Gordan,Mrs.Rachel Lynde,Miss Cornelia and of course Rebecca Dew, are all real to me.Oh I forgot to mention Susan. She too. They are all a part of my life. I tried to erase the review which gave it a 6 rating.I give it a 100!!I choose my friends on the basis of if they do or don't LOVE Anne and her successors.I can go to war with anyone who dares to criticise.I met my best friend and soul mate thru Anne.I first read it 6 yrs ago when I was 12
Rating: Summary: A perfectly wonderful novel that is timeless Review: This is by far my favorite book growing up. It was read to me by my mother before I could even read. When I was old enough, I read it myself over and over. Anne (with an E) is a wonderful heroine. She is full of spirt, intelligence, imagination, humor, pride and mischief. She manages to get herself in and out of a remarkable amount of scrapes, but always learns something along the way. Like Anne says to Marilla, the woman who adopts her, she never makes the same mistake twice. Along the way, the citizens of Avonlea, Prince Edward Island, learn from Anne as well. This book is a must read for any child, and any adult, for that matter.
Rating: Summary: My favorite Review: This book means so much to me. Anne reminds me of me as a child in so many ways, and we were teased for many of the same things. This book contains so many important lessons, so much good advice, and so much love the way love is meant to be. When I have a daughter, I will name her Anne, because I can't think of a better namesake.
Rating: Summary: Anne is a "kindred spirit " of mine. Review: I loved it! I read it first when I was seven, and have read it several times since. I think many books are good, but few make you feel as though the main character were your best friend. Beautiful
