Marilla almost refuses to keep her, but finally agrees to. On her first day at school a boy named Gilbert calls her Carrots, the name she despises most. Gilbert tries to appologise but Anne has made up her mind never to forgive him. Anne and her "bossum" friend Diana get into all kinds of mischife and adventures. If you haven't read this book, do!

Summary: *****ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BOOK-A MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!*****
Review: I fell in love with this book after the first few pages. I could not put the book down until I finished it. I felt a connection with Anne as I read the book through her happy and sad moments. Growing up, I always wanted to be like Anne, a truly wonderful role models for young girls. Although I have read many amazing books, nothing ever touched my heart as much as this book. It is a book that every individual, man or woman, must read. I will forever treasure this book! Read it and you will agree.

Summary: The Best Book In The World!
Review: I have read several wonderful books in my life. None of them were nearly as good as this one (except maybe the "Emily of New Moon" series). Anne is a imaginative and very mischevious redheaded orphan. The Cuthberts wanted a boy. Instead Ms. Anne Shirley comes along. The longer she stays the more everyone loves her. Her rival Gilbert Blythe, is also a very funny character. If you haven't read this excellent book, then brother you're missing out on everything.

Summary: This book is truly a classic.
Review: This book is one of those that define what a classic is. Anne's concept of beauty and her philosophies are universal; each generation would be able to relate to the story and grasp its meaning. The comedy, romance, drama, and adventure in it makes the book a MUST-READ.

Summary: Gorgeous
Review: The story was gorgeous. It started out a bit shaky but got better. I loved it. Anne is a bit impudent but you should still read it.

Summary: never make your child suffer through this book
Review: ok, in grammer school and middle I was forced to read this book. then watch the movie and all i have to say was that that was horrible. I couldn't imagine writing about a more unbearably obnoxiuos mouthy little girl, the first two chapters of this book were almost unberable, imagine making your daughter, granddaughter, female reletive read the whole thing. I know, and this book in no ways makes a girl feel better about adolesence, whatever, just try not to make any other poor girl have to suffer through 'anne'

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent story of coming of age
Review: I personally believe that this is one of the best books ever written. L.M. Montgomery is one of the most descriptive authors, and one of the most down-to-earth women there are. Truly a remarkable story.
