Rating: Summary: Inspiring! Review: Without a doubt this classic piece of work shaped my life in various ways. I cannot emphasize how positive Anne Shirley is as a character. She is a heroine who is not only beautiful(spirit) but extremely intelligent. The most drastically different aspect of the novel is the fact that the romantic male character, Gilbert, gestures to the idea that "being smart is better than being pretty". How often spoken or written are those words? I believe that phrase is something young girls must recognize as well as understand in life. For beauty is fleeting and knowledge is eternal. Timeless and pure, I suggest this novel for anyone who loves a bit of comedy, romance, intrigue, and pure fun. This novel has it all. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: This is a book to last your whole life long... Review: My mother read this book not very many years after it was written and she loved it. When I was 8 (many years ago) she bought it for me. I recall that I had trouble getting in to it -- but once past the first chapter I devoured it again and again. Anne is witty, charming, imaginative AND she is very much ahead of her time in her pride in her intellectual abilities. She competes with (gasp) a boy for a scholarship and for a job. And we don't question her right to do so. A worthy role model.I could never estimate the number of times I've read this book. I could never estimate the comfort and support it brought me through my growing up years. Lucy Montgomery gave a great and wonderful gift to generations of little girls -- of all ages.
Rating: Summary: Great! I love it! Review: I think that "Anne of Green Gables" is a great story. Heart warming and sweet. I think it is even better if you have some sort of connection to Anne, like I do. I played her in a local production of the play "Anne of Green Ggables", and I have tons in common with her. I would recomed this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Anne of Green Gables is a timeless story and inspring book Review: I am 20 years old and first read the Anne of Green Gables series when I was 12. I recently watched the movies and plan on re-reading the series. Montgomeries stories of this orpaned girl are imganitive and heart warming. Anne has inspired my life. Her never ending look for adventure and love in life has been a true insiration to me.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book Review: I have just finished reading this book aloud to my 8 year old (who is well capable of reading it herself) so that we could enjoy the book together. What can I say? It is one of the most delightful books in the world, meant to be shared and cherished, and above all remembered and recommended to others. If you have a little girl in your life, introduce her to this book. She will always thank you.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book! Review: I am in seventh grade and have about an 11th grade reading level, and i thought this book was very good. It was not boring, not, one bit, Anne (with an "e") is like the person inside all of us just waiting to come out. She's always messing up, we all do, but is a beautiful person. She says exactly what she feels, and stands up for what she thinks. We all have a little Anne Shirley inside ourselves, read Anne Of Green Gables to bring out the Anne inside you.
Rating: Summary: BORING BORING BORING! Review: boring=n !=n*!=b+c c=10,000 n* infinite n!* c= Anne Of Green Gables I have a college reading level although I'm only in 5th grade (really! ) I DIDN"T LIKE IT.
Rating: Summary: A real awesome book! Review: I loved reading this book. I have seen the movie, but the book is much better. I was looking for a book on our classroom A.R.R. shelf, and this book caught my eye. Anyone who likes funny and sad stories will like this one.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: This is a great book. Anyone who likes reading books about girls (well, books about boys, too) should read this. It is about a girl named Anne (of course!), who was an orphan until by mistake she was taken out of an orphanage by the hospitable Matthew Cuthbert. It tells about her adventures there, a few sad but most of them hilarious! Once I started this book I couldn't put it down! It is great! If you read this and enjoy it, be sure to read the other seven books in the series, which are equally as good!
Rating: Summary: The book was ok, but sad at the end. Review: The main character in Anne of Green Gables is Anne Shirley. She is an imaginative young girl. I found the story interesting. It was NOT the best book i've ever read. But, personally i do NOT like reading.
