Rating: Summary: Impressive and yearning to find Jesus Christ's love. Review: Apollyon: The Destroyer is Unleashed is book five of seven series to be completed. As the Tribulation Force continues to try staying alive after numerous of prophecied judgements have occured. They find themselves motivated enough to go the Israel for the great gathering of the 144,000 witnesses. In doing so, the enemy finds out and decides to ruin what is suppose to be the unification of the saints to massive multitude of panicing crowd after a shots being fired. Fortunately, the Tribulation Force escapes and manages to convert more nonbelievers through their escapades. The Antichrist finally finds out who are his true enemies and decides to take matters into his own hands! The Left Behind Series continues to get better. I became a believe through these books and though i agree that this is only a portion of Christianity, it opened my eyes and I saw the vision of how I could be left behind if deny the one true God who never left me, Jesus Christ, my Savior. This book is not to intimate or scare anyone but only to provide you with the incentive of grasping the question of what most nonbelievers ask, "How can I prevent myself from being left behind?"
Rating: Summary: That's exactly my point. . . kind of Review: I partly agree with the last reviewer. These books are most definately not great literature. Unfortunately for me, I happen to think that they're pretty lousy reads too. The only good thing about these books is the message of coming to Christ. Message alone does not a book carry.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great Review: This 5th book in the series rates somewhere between Left Behind (the best) and Soul Harvest (the worst). I've read or scanned most of the reviews to date, and I've come to the conclusion that most people give these books bad (or good) reviews based on theology rather than on literature. The Left Behind series are not great literature, but they are good reads. I find myself caring about the characters and what happens to them. I turn the pages more for that reason than to see what the next judgement is. There is no deep thinking required when you read these books. They are written as action-adventure novels, not theological treatises. Occasionally, the books do cause me to think about my own faith, but nothing close to far-reaching soul searching. They certainly haven't "changed my life." Appolyon and the rest of the series are not a waste of time. Read them and enjoy them. Think about your faith. Keep in mind that this is only a part of what Christianity is all about. Then go find out what the rest of Christianity is all about.
Rating: Summary: Best Yet Review: Lahaye and Jenkins are right on. This book is the best yet and really makes you think about your life if you are a Christian and the results if you are not. Can't wait for the next one to come out.
Rating: Summary: I love these books and eagerly await the next one. Review: For many years, I've believed that the book of Revelation referred to incidences that happened during the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. These books have changed my life. They have given me a sense of urgency to reach out to those whom I love that do not wear Christ's name. I'm grateful to the authors!
Rating: Summary: Love the book and series, on to the next!!!!!! Review: Apollyon is more of the same exciting fiction found in this series. I first heard of book #1: "Left Behind" on March 3, 1999. I completed #5 "Apollyon", April 5th!! You don't get much higher praise than that!
I know that the authors are attuned to these comments as Mr. Jenkins responded to a remark last month within 24 hours. So I would like to leave some positive critism to the authors.
I just love the fact that your fiction has captivated such a wide audience. I think that it is terrific that you have been able to take a life time of research and turned it into an inspiring, entertaining, and profitable series of books! Bravo! I think that your books are a sterling example of the "American Dream". You have worked hard and now to see your work brought to such fruition must be truly heartening in many ways. I am always thankful that the America we live in, with all our current social and political shortcomings is still the land of freedom and opportunity.
I would like to suggest a couple of things, albeit minor, which I think could stand a little improvement....seeing as how I am destined to buy the full series of books, as agonizing as the wait may be!
Could you possibly refrain from using the same phrase over and over...."that sort of thing"? The other is more general......Where are our tribulation saints getting edible food & water, and other necessities of life from toothpaste to clothing? Are there any stores open and functioning? If so how are they maintaining commerce? Does anybody go to a "job" besides the "GC"? It seems amatuerish to just gloss over the hurculean effort that would be involved in overcoming such difficulties, after nuclear fallout, earthquakes, one plague after another. Just surviving the smell and infection of the rotting flesh all over the world would seem to be impossible.
I don't mean to detract from my positive feelings about your books, but as we get into the more severe times with each and every book maybe a little more development of the day to day realities would help the plot and keep people's attention on your wonderful message. Thanks from a believer!
Rating: Summary: One of the best Review: Apollyon brings it on!!! While it took me awhile to catch on at first. Once I did, I loved it!! I have been an avid follower just recently of this series. The only thing I find annoying is the fact on having to wait for the new book to come in. Here's a rumor. That until Jesus come sback they are going to continue writing this series. RUMOR!! Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the ones preceding it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, can't wait for August and the next book!! Review: I just finished Apollyon and I am very excited that the authors have given us another great read. The reading is easy, which I feel allows a wide variety of folks to get into the books and as a Christian, I feel that's important. The more people that read this series, the better the chance that some will be convicted to open their Bibles. Let's not lose sight that this is what our hope is - bringing people closer to God. I understand that some feel this series shows a God that is mean-spirited and unjust. I challenge those folks to open their Bibles and read - there are many more incidents of this side of the Lord. After all, He's given us 2,000 years to get our act together - wouldn't you be running out of patience? Inevitably, some will love this series, a few will hate it - but it's getting us talking about God and that is wonderful!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Jumbled, and boring Review: If authors like this were left to witness after the rapture those left behind would be in serious trouble. We are given many characters to care about, but they are so inhuman! they are all so good and so perfect, completely without conflict. I found them completely unlikable. I could not relate to them. it is all so easy for the characters in this book. they talk of hard times, but the tribulation seems to breeze by for them. Tragic things happen to and around them but they do not seem to affect them. I kept hoping for the times with Hattie, the only character I could relate to. She is at least vivid. I hope she eventually finds the way, but for now he conflict is the only source of interest or tension. In this book you are told how to feel, it is like the score for a bad movie. You know the scene is supposed to make you feel something, but no matter how much sad music you hear, it is impossible to bring yourself to cry. It is intensely unlikable and a mindnumbing read. the best moments are directly from the bible, a immeasurably more exciting and informative book. My suggestion? make the characters more human. Even Jesus on the cross wept "Father, Why hast thou forsaken me?"
Rating: Summary: This reminded me of the importance of prayer. Review: I really enjoyed this series, and have many chances to discuss it with others, because I know many people who are reading it. I never studied Revelations, but now look forward to doing so as I await the release of the next book. I am encouraged to pray for the people who do not know Jesus, including family, and many friends. Thank you for a great series.
