Rating: Summary: Great book, maybe not a prophecy misinterpreted Review: These kind of books really make you wonder what is really going on up there. The book is an excellent piece of fiction, and the scary parts come when you take a second to think about if they really are fiction or not. I read the review of a fellow series reader and was amazed at the time they took to point out how the authors misinterpreted the meaning of the bible. This whole series is about people who are being left to live through hell on earth because they did'nt take it literally enough. The review reminded me of the views held by the leader of the world religion. He belived the bible was not meant to be literal. He was a pope who was left behind. These are great stories for religious and non religious people alike
Rating: Summary: Prophecy misinterpreted,...but still a good fictitional read Review: I very much enjoyed this book, however, like many, Jenkins and LaHaye have managed to misinterpret much of Biblical Prophecy i.e. (without revealing any storyline) thinking that antichrist is an individual rather than a way of life and assuming the "Beast" will come bearing a false sense of peace signaling the beginning of a ficticious seven year period, commencing with a dreamed up covenant with Israel for seven years and in the middle of this period the Beast will break the covenant. No where in the Bible does it say anything like this although I will admit it is a common misinterpretation of Daniel 9:24-27. True scholars know these verses do not speak of events yet to come, but rather they refer to events that happened 2000 years ago and many of Jenkins and LaHaye's other "yet to come" ideas are also events that have already passed i.e. Babylon is already rebuilt (buy "Rise of Babylon" by C. H. Dyer from Amazon.com), Jews have already experienced the tribulation, and having done so and becoming a Nation State in 1967, which incidentally was exactly the year Daniel prophecied (Daniel 8:13-14, Luke 21:24). Furthermore, prior to and since the United Nations voted in 1947 (again, exactly the year prophecied) for the Independence of Israel (Daniel 12:11-12), God's chosen people have already begun to be "led" by God back to Israel, and "the Branch" or Messiah will be the next one to rebuild the temple, not the "Beast." On top of all this, anti-Christ forces already surround the city of Jerusalem (see CNN), the Lord will just return before they ever manage to take it as they so foolishly hope. But all misinterpretation of scripture aside, in this book, as with the rest of this justifiably money-making series, their use of popular misintrepretation of prophecy does make for a rather good, albeit fictional read and I look forward forking over more cash for their next book of errors. So my recommendation is to buy the whole series, just don't take it for fact.
Rating: Summary: Great Imagery Review: This book keeps you on your toes ready and waiting for the next judgements to occur, especially Apollyon. The way these two men describe the beasts that are under Apollyon's control is simply amazing. It makes me wonder if their descriptions were sent from God himself.
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: This was a wonderful book. I had trouble putting it down towards the end. These authors have put together a great series and I can't wait until the next ones come out! The only downfall to the book and the reason it received a four from me is that I think they should have concentrated more on the judgements rather than a storyline. But I still love these books and they are on my list for the best books I have ever read!
Rating: Summary: Keep 'em coming Review: These Left Behind books have the most compelling Christian characters since Wilson Lindberg in The Triumph and the Glory. The plot lines could be better, I wish there would be a little more focus on Biblical events instead of the personal lives of Buck and Rayford and the rest though. Even memorable characters like them should take second place to the apocolyptic events of Revelation.
Rating: Summary: This entire series has captivated me! Review: From the very first volume LEFT BEHIND to APOLLYON, I have been captivated! I have never been much of a reader, and the book of Revelation has been a mystery that has intrigued me. But now I find myself going back and looking at with a different understanding because of the writing of Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins and the Left Behind series. This is a first rate series, and I look forward to reading the rest of them as they come out.
Rating: Summary: Loved It! Review: This one of the Left Behind series is the one I kept starting and stopping. In the end, I find out why. Those locusts are nothing to mess with. It is sad but I feel that we should make a choice on which way they are going to take and stick to it. I loved the whole series. Yes, some were predictable, and all that, but you can't help but keep wondering who did what? Right now, I wish they release the next book after Assassins because now I am sure everyone on the Leftbehind site is playing guessing games as to who did Carpathia in? However, I want to read this other book The Last Day. That sounds really interesting.
Rating: Summary: Should you be left behined? Review: I read this book and I found that I could not put itdown. Which I didn't. It keept me interested the whole time. It wokeme up from my dull life and showed me that I need to tell my friends about Christ.
Rating: Summary: Frightfully descriptive Review: Once again, LaHaye and Jenkins have taken the passages of the Bible and put them into a context that any person can understand. I loved the little locusts, even though they are demons. Jenkins and LaHaye gave a description f them that matches the Biblical but brings them to life in a way that is incredibly detailed. I also liked the fact thatCarpathia had a deformed child. Loooks like the antichrist has some of Satans genes in him all ready.
Rating: Summary: There are much better endtime thrillers out there Review: When you have a topic as rich with possibilities as this, readers should expect: #1 terrific writing, #2 strong characters, #3 chills, thrills and hair curling suspense. Unfortunately, the LEFT BEHIND series disappoints on all levels. This is very lightweight stuff, people, in my opinion. The very finest of all endtimes novels, without question, is the quintessential Judgment Day suspense thriller, THE LAST DAY (Glenn Kleier, 1998, Warner books). If you want to read a gripping, intelligent and thought stimulating drama that will alternately fascinate you, amuse you, scare the living bejeebies out of you, and keep your mind boggled till the wee hours, there is none better. LAST DAY is the ultimate Last Day experience, and if you haven't read it yet, you're in for a soul-quaking treat. Not a one of these LEFT BEHIND novels comes anywhere close
