Summary: OK, I'll admit it...
Review: I was getting a little tired of Alex Cross; wasn't really sure about starting another Patterson book. But then one of the 4 main female characters shares my first name, and another character shares my last. I felt I had to read it, if for no other reason than to show respect for random coincidence. And I was pleasantly surprised! Will it go down in history as a literary masterpiece? No. Was I caught completely unawares by the ending? Not really. Did I thoroughly enjoy the book, from first to last page? Absolutely! The main character, Lindsay, is strong without being overtly bitchy (as most male writers seem to think we need to be in order to be "strong"), nor was she whiney or too "politically correct" (as Cornwell has become... please, writers, save your political views for some other venue!). And the alleged villain was deliciously nasty and... well... villainous. A pleasantly-paced diversion that kept me interested and even made me cry once or twice. A great read for a lazy, rainy Saturday. Keep up the action with this 30-something version of Charlie's (Avenging) Angels, Patterson... just don't make their antics TOO unbelieveable, OK? Your fans aren't stupid...

Summary: 1st To Die
Review: This is my first time having read anything by James Patterson and I am 'hooked'. Starting on page'1', this book had my interest. His writing style reminds me, so much,of Sidney Shelton, who is my favorite author. This is an excellent plot and several twists. This was a superb story line of a serial killer who kills the brides and grooms on their wedding day. Each sitting is different (it happens three seperate times/twice in Claifornia and once in Ohio). You have four professional ladies(investigator,medical examiner, lawyer, and journalist) who form an old boy's club, properly titled, 'Murder's Club',which ultimately enables them to solve the murder. Or so it appears... Efficient leg work.....They were very professional.... They 'all' did a superb job of putting the puzzle together. But just when you thought they had it solved, the investigator, Lindsey, comes up with some valid questions. Do we have the right person, or could it have been person'X', or person'Y'? You'll never guess the ending. And just when you thought that it was over......like Shelton, he throws you a another curve ball..... This is a "Can't Put Down" book. I acturally cried at the end!

Summary: Not a novel--a comic book!
Review: Non-existent character development, weak plot, frantic pacing--this reminded me more of a comic book than an novel. The underlying premise, "The Women's Murder Club pits four San Francisco women professionals against a serial killer" is as implausible as it is an overstatement. The protagonist, Lindsey Boxer, is a detective who discovers she has a rare blood disease. Based on nothing more than a good feeling about a reporter, Boxer takes the reporter into her confidence and discloses details about the murders which would probably cost her a demotion or suspension in real life. Not to worry, though--this reporter, who is otherwise driven to get the story that will catapult her out of "Metro" reporting into "Crime," keeps the disclosure under her hat. (Right.) The medical examiner (Boxer's best friend)and the woman prosecuter join Boxer and the reporter in drinking margaritas and solving the crimes outside of normal channels (i.e., they talk among themselves and go off half-cocked). Is there any background which would explain why these women had to work outside of the system? No. Is there any significant difference in their characters? No. Is any progress made in "solving" the crime made by these women that could not have more plausibly been made by the detectives doing their jobs? No! This extremely disappointing book seems to be the first in a series about the Women's Murder Club. Let's hope that future installments are better written and conceived.

Review: I love Jame Patterson. Each of his books are a fast-pace and breathless read.1ST TO DIE, is the first book in a new series. The female characters tat the plot centers around are intelligence and easy to like. You want to laugh with them, and cry with them. James Patterson has another winner on his hands.Keep them coming.

Summary: BAD BOOK
Review: I had wanted to read James Patterson and this book looked like an ideal opurtunity to be introduced to a new great author. I was suprised .I was on the plane trapped with this book. I have never read such a copied mystery. Please do not try to copy Cornwell on the medical examiner, and please James do not use the words looky-loo in your next books because with things like that in your books you can barely put together a complex sentance. It started out with the murder on the 13th floor htan it was on the 30th. You ened a new editor.

Summary: The New Girls on the Block
Review: I just finished 1st to Die after letting it sit on the shelf for an entire month and if this is the new series by James Patterson I can't wait for next release. This novel was thoroughly captivating in every sense of the word, there was never a dull moment. Someone is murdering newlyweds shortly after their vows are taken; the reason behind these vicious murders may seem ludicrous to the average person but to the killer it's pure genius. Although the Police/FBI are on the case, four women of the newly formed "murder club" consisting of a homicide inspector, a DA, a medical examiner and a reporter for the local newspaper are the ones who actually trap a killer. I loved these girls who formed a lasting bond of friendship because of this serial killer. 1st to Die had me guessing correctly who the killer was, then I started doubting myself and then found out I right along. If you haven't read 1st to Die, go get it and enjoy the ride of your life.

Summary: Patterson does it again !
Review: James Patterson does it again. He got my attention from the very first page as usual. AS with all of his books it is incredibly hard to put down. I'm a huge fan of Alex Cross but also really ejoyed this 1st book of his new series. I've yet to find another author that has my attention from page one and keeps it until the end. Very good book !! I only wish he'd put atleast a book a month out. I can't wait until the next Alex Cross or for the next Murders Club.

Summary: Not at his best
Review: I was looking for a good thriller/mystery. What I got was an easy read better suited to a quick trip to the beach. I enjoyed the story although it was a no-thinker. I guess what I didn't care for was the double-spaced, PICA type with 2" margins top and bottom. I would have liked the pages filled with more story. I was able to breeze through this book in one day. Better to wait for the... paperback...to come out later.

Summary: Good, but not his best!!
Review: I think this book was okay. Has some entertainment value, but I think it could have been better. It kept my interest, but mainly because I had to see how it would end. I think his best writing was "Along Came A Spider." That said, I'll still read what he brings out next, because most of the time I'm glued to his pages, and he entertains more that he disappoints. If this is the beginning of a new series featuring "The Murder Club", it will probably only get better.
