Rating: Summary: How does Patterson do it? Review: I'm talking about getting away with literary murder! The Alex Cross books were all formula books I thought, so now he's started a new series that will be, no doubt, just as popular. I don't understand the public's passion for his books. In this one, Cindy, the aggressive news reporter, cleverly gets into the crime scene and is immediately tossed out. The next thing you know, she becomes best friends with Lindsay Boxer, the story's detective hero, and becomes part of the newly formed crime fighter group. Hard to believe. V.I. Warshawski uses the press to get information, but not to help her solve crimes the way Lindsay does. How about Lindsay's fatal disease that you knew she would overcome so she could continue to fight crime in the series' next book? One challenge in any good book is to figure out who the protagonist is. It was obvious to me before Lindsay got around to learning who dunnit! I must admit that the epilogue was a bit of a surprise; however, you knew the outcome before it happened. I recently read that Patterson has final approval on his book cover designs for this series. I guess that when you're an author, who generates megabucks for your publisher, you can have just about anything.
Rating: Summary: great group of women working together Review: I love the idea of women in typically male fields working together to solve a crime. I usually listen to mysteries in the car from San Francisco to LA and this one definately made the ride FLY by. The SF setting was great and overall the plot was well developed. Enjoy (and then check out 2nd Chances)!
Rating: Summary: One thrilling ride! Review: I have to admit that this is the first James Patterson book I've read. I saw it being sold at a [good] price so I thought I'd give it a go. I wasn't expecting much, but my, I WAS suprised! '1st To Die' tells of a female homicide detective's quest to catch a serial killer who is murdering newly weds. Patterson gradually introduces three more female characters who eventually form the Women's Murder Club. Patterson's style is very easy reading and the short, straight-to-the-point chapters allow the story to flow at just the right pace. The ending is nothing short of brilliant (although a little unbelievable at times) providing many twists and turns (it had me so gripped that I read the last 200 pages in one evening). The only drawback I can think of is that the novel's short chapters don't allow enough character development, but that is easily forgivable seeing that the story's main drive is the riveting plot. As I mentioned, this was my first James Patterson book but I will be reading many more.
Rating: Summary: 1st To Die Review: I loved reading 1st To Die. This is the third book I have read of his. I am a writer and actor, who works a lot in San Francisco. Jame's description of the City and the characters really came alive for me. Great thriller. Thanks....Bill Davis
Rating: Summary: Nice Start to a New Series Review: Being a fan of the Alex Cross series, I assumed that I would enjoy this book. I was not disappointed in any way whatsoever. Patterson has the ability to fill the reader with intrigue from the beginning all the way to the end of this book. Although I really enjoyed the plot, I felt that the ending was entirely predictable because an intelligent reader understands that if something appears to be easily seen in a Patterson novel, it probably is there to conceal the truth. Not withstanding, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: . . . kept me gripped . . . ! Review: One reviewer of this book claims that "newcomers to his work will be enthralled." And so I was . . . ! Set in San Francisco, this book has more twist and turns than Lombard Street itself. The four women at the centre of the Women's Murder Club, each have their own vested interest in the recent spate of serial killings, and in trapping the 'animal' behind them. This book has the typical romance and personal tragedies but my only criticism would be that Patterson doesn't go far enough into his characters - something I'm sure he puts right in the second book in this series, 2nd Chance. I can't wait to read it.
Rating: Summary: A Quick, Entertaining Read Review: 1st to Die is the perfect kind of book to take away on a holiday, offering a fairly simple plot, being quick to grab your interest and keeping your interest until the end. The Women's Murder Club is a group of diverse and interesting women, all highly intelligent yet dealing with their own personal difficulties. More importantly, without their cooperation with each other, the case wouldn't have been solved. These characters are central to what is best about the book. However, I did find the plot a bit too predictable which took away some of the suspense. Although Patterson writes very well, I don't think he's quite up to the standard of John Grisham and others like him. His characters are a little flat and the outcome of the story comes into view a little too soon. Still, he is a top-notch writer.
Rating: Summary: Twisted plot Review: James Patterson does a great job in engaging the reader in a novel that brings shivers down ur spine. Nothing in this book is how it appears to be. You assume that youve figured everything out at the very end you find out you were wrong. Great quick read.

The story is about a a woman cop named Lindsay Boxer and her partner, the follow the trail of a killer who murders couples who just got married. It has great twist plots and great characters that you care about. Thats all i will say because i want you to experice it.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable ! Review: The Women's Murder Club. All in all, could I say that it didn't sound bad. Never having read a book by James Patterson before, I was a bit in doubt whether he could achieve masterpieces as I have read from John Grisham and Sidney Sheldon, which were my total favorites. I have to admit not having read such a great book for a long long time. I can only recommand you to BUY IT ! You will never ever regret it !!! BIG TIME !! Now, the story is absolutely unpredictable. You cannot tell where it goes and the book is unputdownable. It keeps you turn the pages up to the very last page, and your emotions are thoroughly addressed to. There is no rambling style of writing, descriptions which bore you to death, nothing but a face pace and a superb story. Get it NOW !
