Summary: A great Christian Read
Review: After having read all 8 of the left behind series books over the last 3 weeks I can only say with a short word, WOW!

I have read some people reviews criticizing the books for being to bland and written for a young audience. Most of what is written in these books comes from a book that is often referred to as bland and not very exciting, this book is affectionately known as the Bible. Do I have problems with these books I would have to say yes, consider if you would the cost of jet aircraft and jet fuel for said aircraft would be astronomical. Planes somehow being able to fly great distances (Israel to Illinois is over 5000 nm) without refueling stops add to the disillusion of the story. But this is why this work is referred to as fiction and not non-fiction, if it were based on more factual data the story would have more realism yes but it would be no less entertaining. There are portions of the books that do seem to drag along but for the most part books keep a good pacing and a wanting from the reader.

I read from other readers that there is no cussing and other sins committed by these new believers, for this I can only state that sometimes people can radically change with God in their lives and perhaps that is something that these writers are attempting to convey with their writings. One thing that does bother me is the fact that the writers have now decided that 1 book a year will be all the put out for the series, is there a guarantee that there will only be another 4 books in this series? After all the first 42 months of the tribulation consumed 7 books and anyone who has read revelations will tell you that the next 42 months of what will be known as the Great Tribulation will be twice as intense as could every be imagined in the first 42 months. So is it possible that without an increase in the size and material explored in these next books that the series could become 15 or more books? If that is the case the rapture may occur before this series is every completed.

I personally think some people are taking these books to replace the bible, instead of what these books are intended to be.

And for those who still consider these books so poorly written let me point to you two of the most poorly penned books I have ever had the misfortune of reading. The author of these two books is Dr. Robert Davis, they are titled; The Plutonium Murders and the Doomsday Kiss.

You may follow this link to The Plutonium Murders: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1890248002/qid=982641815/sr=1-2/ref=sc_b_2/107-4919486-4567762

Do I think the likes of Stephen King, Tom Clancy, John Grisham or others I will not list here have something to be frightened of by these authors the answer I am ashamed to say would be no. The vast majority of people in the world will never know these books as great writing or entertainment. I give the books a 5 star rating although in actuality I would say for character and plot development it would receive a 1 Star, for writing quality a 2 Star, for a reasonable plot and research a 2 Star (this being generous) but for overall being something I would recommend to others for the pure entertainment of everything I give the books my full recommendations.

Summary: The Trib Force Saga & the End Times Continue
Review: This is the continuing saga of the Tribulation Force and the members readers first met in LEFT BEHIND. In this installment, the authors Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins continue to inform readers of what the end times will look like for believers and non-believers alike.

Some reviewers here have stated that they think this series is being dragged out too much. I won't dispute that opinion because at times, I have had it myself. Despite some reservations, I have become hooked like so many others who have followed the story of Rayford Steele, his daughter Chloe, Buck Williams, Tsion Ben-Judah, Hattie Durham and the Anti-Christ himself, Nicolae Carpathia.

What I especially liked about this book was that the authors show the Trib Force members as believers who are still all too human. In ASSASSINS, the period of trial is rapidly approaching the middle of the treaty period between the GLOBAL COMMUNITY and the state of Israel. As readers know, this means that the two prophets in Jerusalem will be killed and later resurrected. The time is also coming when the GC Potentate will be killed and "indwelt" with the living embodiment of Satan himself. This will come in a future installment (THE INDWELLING-which is already available, as is THE MARK).

In this, the sixth book in the series, the 200 million horseman apocalypse foretold in Revelations has arrived and 1/3 of the survivors of all the previous disasters have been slaughtered. Believers live through this tribulation unscathed but they know they face worse to come. I think the authors, rather than unnecessarily dragging this series out are providing just the right degree of pacing to keep this series alive and fresh.

The plot elements move along in a progressive way and the fact is, the title comes from the desire of many to end the not so benevolent rule of the GC Potentate. Despite his leadership role in the "Trib Force," Capt. Rayford Steele has become sickened by the abuses, death and suffering he has seen around him and only wants to hasten Carpathia's demise. That makes him human and understandable. He is no marble saint on a pedestal.

After reading this far in this series, I can say that I have been entertained and have also been forced to consider my own faith. I don't think that anyone can really ask for more from these books. I do look forward to reading THE INDWELLING and THE MARK. The two writing partners have kept me going this far and I'm sure they won't disappoint me in those two volumes.

While these are not literature in the sense that Tolstoy's writings are, they are a good way for believers and non-believers to re-evaluate where they stand on the issues of faith, salvation, redemption and what comes after death. These books are a literalist approach to the Bible, told through the medium of fiction. If you take them that way, and read with an open mind, you might be surprised with how these stories make you feel. While they are fiction, it's also pretty obvious that readers who know anything about the scriptures are hearing the Lord's message.

For those who haven't discovered this series, my main recommendation is go back and start at the very beginning. You may have a lot of catching up to do, but I think you'll enjoy the reading and the ride.

Summary: 3.5 years into terror. Nicolae ups the ante.
Review: Book six of the Left Behind series is definitely one of the better ones so far. Despite the sometimes sappy dialogue, many of the characters are fleshed out, and even expand in ways that weren't expected from the previous novels. That is to say some of the main characters core beliefs and faith are put to the test as events that culminate at the Global Community Gala in Jerusalem towards the books climax.

It is three years into the tribulation and the 4th trumpet has been sounded. What ensues throw what's left of the worlds population into further chaos and despair. Many more convert to Christ, while many others blatantly choose the other side, and the death toll of familiar characters increases. However, be encouraged that new characters are being introduced, which keeps parts of this novel fresh since this tale has already spanned 5 previous books.

One of the major developments in 'Assassins' is what becomes of Rayford Steele. He has lost family, his second wife, his friends, and now believes he is losing his grip on sanity. His exploits carry him all over the world in search of Hattie Durham, and often places him in exciting and adrenaline pumping scenarios. And sometimes the outcome is not what was desired. Clearly if one figure changes the most in this book it is Rayford, and opens a whole new dynamic spin on him that will have Christians thinking.

As far as the rest of the crew is concerned, not too much happens other than that of Hattie and David. Hattie appears to have gone AWOL as David finds himself getting deeper and deeper within the bowels of the Global Community and the reaches of Nicolae Carpathia (the Antichrist). Oh, and Chaim's internal battle over his own faith climaxes at the Global Gala.

Not only is this chapter in the series much more action packed, but events become much more grim and closer together. The one world religion is dealt with by Nicolae, as are the two witnesses at the Wailing Wall. Peter the Second finds himself in a situation manipulated by Nicolae and there is no easy escape. The depravity of the world's citizens becomes more engulfed in sin, and it is really scary to read about these events. The most chilling event I found in the book was with Nicolae himself. We catch him in a very short passage praying to Lucifer, thus confirming himself as the Antichrist, and the few words he speaks will send chills down your spine. Really looking forward to the next one.

Summary: Assassins: Playing God
Review: Assassins continues the saga of those left behind after the Rapture of the church as four murders foretold in Scripture unfurl. Head of Enigma Babylon One World is in jeopardy, the two witnesses at the Wailing Wall and even antichrist is prophesied to suffer a lethal head wound. Carpathia works to secure his hold on the world system and become supreme ruler of the world, claiming to be God. Tribulation Force members begin to question, Is it right to kill Satan's hit man to help God's work? While struggling for God's answer, Rayford Steele develops a plan to assassinate Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia. Others vie for the same "privilege" of fulfilling the prophecy that the Antichrist himself is to suffer a lethal head wound. Buck Williams through his cyberspace magazine The Truth anonymously refutes Carpathia's claims and preaches to the masses of believers and converts. All the believers in the safe house fear their secret "safe house" location has been compromised and suspect Carparthia's former mistress, Hattie.

This book allows us to agonize with familiar characters, cheer for new believers, mourn the lost of tribulation saints and marvel at the imaginative, yet totally believable, futuristic thinking of the authors. Jenkin's writing "fleshes out" the visions of St. John as found in the Bible. The pace is good from opening pages until the cliffhanger scene when God unleashes yet another earth-shattering disaster.

Summary: A great continuation of the series.
Review: I can understand those who feel that these books have just become a book series for a good action-filled read because there was a lot of parts where I felt that didn't need a chase or heart-pounding feel to it, but I enjoyed it.

My only beef with the series so far is that there are no other "Tribulation Saints" written about apart from the one section stateside or in the Condor. I mean, do we really expect to see a group of 15 or so Christians play all the parts for us in the Tribulation and fulfill all the prophecies? I would realllylike to see a coulpe new small characters introduced in some third-world country with no relation to the Trib Force. I think it would create a more relistic rendition of what will happen in the tribulation other than seeing a select few play every single major role in what is to come.

Summary: Working my way through, but not impressed.
Review: I got these books as a Christmas gift and am tearing through them a mile a minute. Not because they're good reading, but because there's so little to them--both in content and length! Everything is so prolonged and simplistic (and redundant), that you finish them in no time at all. I will finish the rest of them this weekend but if they don't improve, I won't be buying the last installmant. A somewhat better novel in this category is CHRIST CLONE TRILOGY. Far and away the best novel of the genre is THE LAST DAY, which is vastly better written and a moving, classic spiritual thriller about the Second Coming.

Summary: alright let'd get started
Review: First off just let me tell you that these series of books have been a true inspiration to my life. I have listened to all of them on book on tape except the first one and they all are magnificently written. This is the sixth installment in the left behind series that tells the story af a group of Jesus Christ followers who come to Him after the second coming of Christ. This book in particular deals with the foretoled events of the assasination of the antichrist named Nicolea Carpathia. I personally enjoyed this book immensely and would reccommend it to anyone.

Summary: Best book in the series!
Review: Knowing this is the sixth book in the series, my expectations have been lowered by each book, since each one turned out to be a little bit worse than the first one. But I was presently surprised by Assassins and think it is the best book since the first one.

Despite the obvious flaws in the series (the simplified plot, the poor characterizations, the cliches, and the gigantic margins and huge print) I enjoyed this entire book. There was action from the beginning. This novel does a pretty good job of desribing the action leading up to one of the biggest events in the seven years, the assissination of the antichrist.

I knew that this novel would not reveal the identity of the assassin. The author does a great job of making many of the cast members appear to be suspects. Although I think I know who the killer is, I am anxious to find out the killer's motivation and how he did it.

For those of you kind of dissappointed in this series like I was, keep reading because this book is pretty good.

Summary: Slightly Drawn Out Book For Cliff Hanger Ending
Review: Having just finished the 6th book in the "Left Behind" series, I thought overall this installment was pretty decent. LaHaye & Jenkins create motives for enough characters to keep you guessing right up to the last page who will be the Antichrist's killer, and even then they leave it with an almost soap opera like cliff hanger.

My only beef with this book is something that's just problematic in a serialized novel format:I don't honestly believe the main characters are in danger of dying before the last book. That means a bunch of peripheral characters are brought in for a scene or two, and then die, or are killed. Characters it's hard to have much attachment to.

However, I enjoyed this "chapter" in the series much more than the last, and if you're a fan of the book you won't be disappointed.

Summary: a good read
