Rating: Summary: Somebody help me! Review: A girlfriend told me I had to read Eragon. So I got the book. Eragon is my sleep's nemesis. I have seen more sunrises because of Christopher Paolini than because of all the alarm clocks I've ever owned. I've read Eragon three times back to back. Somebody help me! I can't stop reading Eragon. I'm living in Alagaƫsia. When's Eldest coming out? Movie? Gina Pozzi
Rating: Summary: Christopher Paolini's wields a mighty story with "Eragon". Review: I walked into Hastings Books in Billings Montana a week ago and a young man in midevil garb called out to me "Do you like Dragons and swords and fantasy?" I stopped and visited with Chirstoper for about 10 minutes, you know usual questions. I became very impressed with him as a person he signed a copy and I took it home. My daughter drove home I read the prologue. From the first page I was drawn into Alagaesia near a small farm town called Carvahall. The story Took me across Alagasia in a fantastic trek of discovery, history and danger. Between work painting the house and two small children the following Friday I was wondering when are the next two books comming out.
Rating: Summary: darn good Review: a great book for all lovers of fantasy, almost as good as lord of the rings.
Rating: Summary: ERAGON joins my favorites! Review: ERAGON (the main character) combines the elves, dwarves, and magic we expect with (just one) brilliant blue dragon, and a wide assortment of fascinating, mysterious, and believable characters. The "Shade" is a new and exceptionally nasty type of "shady" (sorry about that!) character (one is plenty!) In Eragon, the magic is the flow of events, as magic dramatically tires the user, possibly to death, an unusual and extraordinary limit forcing magicians to use care and judgement! This is the first book I have read TWICE in less than two weeks! It did however, have two disappointments -- on page 464, IT's OVER! and on p. 465, we find it's not over, but we do not know when the next segment (ELDEST) of this planned trilogy will arrive! (Great gnashing of teeth!) I enjoyed ERAGON right up with Tolkien, Clarke's RENDEVOUS WITH RAMA, and Heinlein's DOUBLE STAR (probably my all time SciFi favorite)!
Rating: Summary: Went well beyond what I expected Review: Five stars, four bones, two thumbs up. Major accomplishment by this young one. Eragon will be around for a long time to come. Paolini's fledgling career as an author and highly competent illustrator - take a look at the book cover and maps on the inside of the book - is set on course for greatness. I hope it won't be long before the next installment of the the Inheritance trilogy comes out. Dude, great book! Kewl!
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Review: I would highly recomend this book to any lovers of fantesy! I read the book twice and am thinking about reading it a third time. It was intreaging!!
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: Eragon is an absolutely stunning book! It will grab you by the throat, and not let you go until you've finished it. Definitely is on par with Lord of the Rings. Christopher is great in person - book signing in Hastings - as well as being a stupendous writer. I can't wait until the next installment is published...though I'll be staying up until 3:00 AM reading it. Keep up the good work!
Rating: Summary: A star in the making Review: WOW! If Christopher Paolini keeps writing books like Eragon it will only be a matter of time until his name will be mentioned with the best fantasy writers out there. The story of Eragon is captivating, the characters very real and fascinating and I just adore his writing style. It is very rare nowadays that a 15 year old (now 18) has such an extensive vocabulary. This is a book every fan of fantasy writing must read. No, I take that back, everyone that likes to read a well written and well thought through story must read this book. This book is definitely a five star buy. ...
Rating: Summary: Surprising maturity and skill--and a great read. Review: Because of his very young age, it's tempting to refer to Paolini as a "kid." But kid he is not, nor is this work marred by the usual self-consciousness and awkward turns of phrase one often finds in the early works of writers even twice his age. It is astonishing to realize that this, Paolini's first work, already bears the stamp of a mature writer. It makes me shiver with anticipation to consider what he will be capable of when he gets a few more decades under his belt. "Eragon" (a work that will undoubtedly be compared to Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" but stands firmly on its own two feet within the genre) is well conceived and well written, built on a solid edifice of the writer's depth and breadth of thought and skill; it is thoroughly engaging and enchanting. Although he hides it well, Paolini is clearly very well read, and this work is enriched for it. As a writer, he emerges from his "dragon's egg" much like Saphira does: fiercely intelligent, growing fast, beautiful to behold, and much stronger than you'd expect. I hope Paolini has a Getrude or Angela to heal him quickly from his encounter with "The Book That Ate Him Alive" so we can read the next book in the series soon. And Hollywood (hint, hint): I await the movie of "Eragon" as anxiously as I do the rest of the Rings trilogy.
Rating: Summary: This book is amazing from beginning to end!! Review: For anyone who is interested in fantasy at all, this book should be required reading. I actually met the author at my local Hastings bookstore, and spoke with him for quite some time. Not only is he really great in person, but his first book is incredible. His writing style is a mix of Dragonlance's Weiss and Hickman, and Dune's Herbert. I am very impressed to see a new writer come out with such a strong beginning. I will anxiously await the continuation of Eragon's adventures, and I am sure that I will be just as impressed with the next book. Rarely do I feel as if I am 'living' the story of a book, but from the time you begin this book, you are sure to feel the pains and successes of Eragon and his companions. Bravo Christopher!! Please keep it up.
