Rating: Summary: Cannot wait for the next one Review: OK this was a great book. People may say that its a lot like all the other fantasy books out there, but this one is a mix of them all put into one. This is also a fairly easy read, its fun for adults and an escape for kids. This series promises to be great, he puts so many premonitions about what is going to happen, u have to read the 2nd book after you read this one. GREAT BOOK!!!READ IT!!!!
Rating: Summary: B.O.R.I.N.G! Review: I think this book was horrible! I only give credit to the begining of the book and the author for being young. I was really hooked with it in the begining but it just became boring. It was the same stuff over and over again. It was like you could predict what was going to happen. I only read up to a page in the 230's and found out ho the book ended by my friend and it was just as i predicted. I would recomend this book to people who are really having a bad day and want to read a really bad book. :(!

Rating: Summary: Eragon Review: When my mom first bought Eragon for me for Christmas I was somewhat reluctant to read it, but by the time I was done I wished I had started it much sooner. Eragon, by Christopher Paolini, is a book about a boy living in the world Algaƫsia here evil monsters roam, a tyrannical king rules, and dragons once filled the skies. Now; however, the world hasn't seen a dragon for many decades and a poor farmer boy named Eragon is about to receive a wonderful gift from fate. When he finds a mysterious blue rock in the forest that turns out to be a dragon egg Eragon is thrust into a world he never knew existed, and launched into a quest that shall be forever told in legend. I really liked this book because it kept me always turning to the next page. I like how there is almost never a lull in the action, but when there is it is still interesting. I also love how Eragon's dragon, Saphira, is portrayed as an equal, or superior to humans instead of portraying it as a stupid animal. Eragon is an all around gnarly book.
Rating: Summary: Eragon? Of course! Review: A farmer boy goes hunting for food so that his family will not starve. But on his way, a mysterious blue stone shows up in his path. The locals will not take it, and soon the stone proves to be incredible. Read it yourself to find out what will happen to Eragon on his adventure through the country-side! This story has a few humorous parts and a fantastic plot. I would recomend this to anyone over ten.
Rating: Summary: D.U.L.L. Review: My cousin offered me this book, saying it was much like David Eddings, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter all rolled into one story. Okay. The true fact was, this book was exactly that. The plot was almost exactly identical to Eddings' 'The Belgariad'. A farmboy who lost his parents flees his little village with a storyteller who isn't all he appears. Somehow in the span of a few chapters, he becomes a blademaster and magician. The magic is a copy, and even the scene where he releases his gift (with the blue fire) isn't original. The only real difference from any story that I've read is that this boy has a dragon, who he is mentally linked to, he being a 'Rider'. The story itself plods along, and it seems that Eragon blacks out at the end of every chapter. Saphira was a little amusing, but only a little. The non-human races are Tolkien copies (which, in my opinion, isn't the greatest source to copy from), with boisterous dwarves and the almost-divine elves. Some of the plotlines are a little unbelievable, even for a fantasy. Arya emerges from a coma after weeks of dying by slow poison, and in one night is fit enough to duel Eragon? Please! Hopefully book two will make up for this a little more, but honestly, I think I can already figure out the connection between Eragon and Murtagh already, so I won't be keeping my fingers crossed.
Rating: Summary: Fun, but... Review: If anyone asked me to grade this book by how fun it was, I would definitely give it five stars. If anyone asked me to grade this book by a real standard, I would give it three stars. I live overseas, so I read many of the reviews before I bought it. I expected worse. It wasn't so bad. In fact, it was excellent! But there were a great deal of... well, Eragon is, after all, an 'archetypal hero story.' Paolini has done quite well for a novel like this. However, many of the "twists and turns" in this book are old and worn and well-used. I can see that Paolini has put some ideas of his own. Brom being who he was obvious. He couldn't just be a storyteller, could he? I also thought this book was pretty much slow-paced. So many pages and we don't even get to go to Du Weldenvarden or meet the evil king. Then there are the names. I believe names shouldn't be criticized, but I couldn't help feeling that this was very much like Tolkien's books because of the names. Eragon, for example, is very similar to Aragorn. Arya is also similar to Arwen. These similar names kept me thinking that Eragon was on a mission to destroy the Ring of Power and that Alagaesia was Middle-earth. There are too many questions not yet answered; but I suppose they'll all be answered in other books. It's a great start to a great series. But Paolini could improve.
Rating: Summary: Lovely book Review: This was a lovely read for me. I like fantasy very much. It was a fairly easy read and very enjoyable. I do agree that it wasn't entirely original as I would have liked. I kept being reminded of Tolkien like the other readers have commented, the elves characteristics are the same, as are the dwarfs and many other things written in the book. Also, does anyone but me kind of feel a little bit of a starwars theme here? riders - jedi, evil empire - evil empire, old, powerful evil king - old, powerful evil emperor, ect. lol. But all the same, who cares. Artist and writers are always inspirated and have used the same flavor from other artist and writers for years. At least the author of ERAGON used the ideas with taste. And even though there is a lot of familiarity in his books, there is also much of his own ideas and style that are very different. I can't wait for the next book!
Rating: Summary: The Great Fantasy Book of our Time Review: To put it simply, Eragon is a great book. I've read many other books that are written in the same genre (fantasy/sci-fi) and this book seems to rank the highest out of all the novels. Paolini puls in various types of writing styles and combines them. The outcome is a great read and will leave you wanting more.
