Rating: Summary: MUST READ!!!!!! Review: I am reviewing the book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets . It's about a boy named Harry Potter who lives with the mean yet frightened Dursley's who force him to be normal. Then he receives a message from a mysterious house elf named Dobby. Ron and Harry fly to Hogwarts, a magical school with a bewitched car. Then everybody starts to get paralyzed from an evil monster. The new teacher Gildheroy Lockhart says he can take out the monster. Harry hears a disembodied voice that nobody else can. Everybody thinks that he is the heir of Slytherin because he speaks Parseltoung (snake language). Harry finds Tom Riddle's diary and sees the past where Hagrid, the games keeper, was accused of this. Tom took Harry's wand and spelled out TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE again he spelled out I AM LORD VOLDEMORT. To find out more read this great book.
Rating: Summary: A great book- even for older readers Review: I am sixteen, and even I loved this book when my mother (a children's librarian) brought it home. This is one of those few instances where the second book in a series is as good as the first!
Rating: Summary: I just can't read them all fast enough! Review: I am starting the third book in the series, practically as I type this. I can't seem to read them all fast enough. I was first introduced to the Harry Potter books by a few of my middle school students. I teach remedial reading and many of my students do not like to read, so I was surprised to hear them raving about these books. I knew I had to check them out, and I'm so glad I did. I recommend them to anyone and everyone, adult and child alike. They are imaginative, fun books that captivate the reader -- you won't be able to put them down until you've finished and then you'll be hungry for more!
Rating: Summary: Definitely Worth It Review: I am surprised at some of the low ratings this book recieved. I have read all the Harry Potter books multiple times, and I have to say this is one of my favorites. I have heard some other readers say that this was less magical and interesting than the others and that it was predictable and a little too noticably modeled after the first book. While I admit there was some similarity in the endings of the first two books (Harry faces You-Know-Who and barely escapes... saves the day... wins the house cup... loses out with the Quidditch cup...) in no way were they identical. Harry's final battle in the Chamber of Secrets is more desperate, more fantastic, faster-paced, and more isolated. Harry doesn't have the glimmering hope that his friends might get help in time. And more than just the return of Voldemort is at stake. A girl lies at the brink of death and the Monster poses another threat to Harry and, if it survives, to Hogwarts school itself. Harry's adversary in this one is more formidable as well. He doesn't just face an evil man with a wand and Voldemort's shadow. He faces Voldemort himself, but a glowing Voldemort, with his life in a book, and a giant, deadly beast, whose very glance can kill... And how about the rest of the book? So much is revealed... Hagrid's story, Voldemort's past... and more of the mysteries of Harry Potter. Many people like the third book better. Yes, perhaps it is more thrilling, more... angry. But I personally felt that the Chamber of Secrets revealed a more subtle secret, carried a more delicate story. It WAS full of secrets... and the potential terror in its pages reminds me deliciously of the fourth book, which happens to be my other favorite. So... if you're looking for an excellent story, with magical secrets, and terrifying truths... I suggest you try this one...
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK FOR ANY AGE. Review: I am ten . I LOVED THIS BOOK . It was even better then the first one , which I thought would be impossible.
Rating: Summary: Just can't put the book down Review: I am twelve years old and love to read. This is one of the greatest adventure novels I have read so far. My mom has ordered the 3rd book and she actually read both Harry Potter books after hearing how exciting the books were.
Rating: Summary: Just Roll With It. Review: I am well into finishing HP4 and I must say that this series has excited my own imagination. This book was the first HP I read (and yes I backtracked to HP1). The mystery JKR plots out for Harry portrays him in this edition and those to follow as a young sleuth and less of a wizard (like a youthful Sherlock Holmes). A villianous culprit is about at Hogwarts and Harry along with the help of his two best friends must solve who is behind these attacks on the student body. Harry is more anxious to find this fiend to not only stop them, but also to help clear his name as a suspect. JKR paints a literary picture of intigrue and suspicion in this installment. I however gave it four stars only because of one chapter in the book I just had to muttle through so I could get back into the real plot (hint: DDP). The chapter was not portrayed in the movie, but it does fill in details about certain characters shown and not shown in the film version. I hope you enjoy it and please do read them all in order.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Ever Review: I as a teenager who does not read much then is required by the school was challenged to just read one of the Harry Potter Books to tell the difference between a movie and a book. I am going to watch the chamber of secrets tomorow and if its as interesting as the book was i will go out that night and buy the 3 year. i have never read a book in so little time it took me 7 hours to finsh the first year and it only took me 6 this time but a longer book i know that this is a true genius who write these things.
Rating: Summary: There Is a Little Harry In Everyone Review: I believe this book was so sucessfull was because everyone can relate to Harry Potter. We all at one point in our lives have been in a world where we were amazed by the occurances that seemed regular to the natives. And I am sad to say I have delt with my own Draco Malfroy. But the Rons and the Hermoines are the best friends you could ever have. I am sure some of us have wished to be part of wizzarding scociety. The chemistry between the characters (even the baddies) was wounderful and realistic. Still, behind the magic and the scocial affairs we find a story of a heritage that was deprived and shamed by muggles and we see the same heritage welcomed. A child who has lived through this turmoil and confusion must surley have hidden powers of their own... Maybe thre REALLY is a Harry Potter in everyone...
Rating: Summary: The Best Book In The Whole World Review: I bought Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on June 3,1999 and finished it the next day. I went to school with it and read it while having classes and the teacher always tells me to close the book which I couldn't do because it was very addictive! What urged me to buy the sequel is because a classmate of mine brought the first book of Harry Potter to school and told the teacher to read it to us everyday and I started to like it. There was a Harry Potter mania in our class! I can't wait to buy the third book of Harry Potter if their is. I hope there are many more Harry Potter books to come!
