Summary: Media fuelled sensationalism
Review: I am a sixteen year old reviever from the U.K. Firstly I would like to say that I have no objection to these novels being taken in their intended context, as children's books, I also am generally enthusiastic about anything that promotes children reading. However I can't understand how anyone over the age of twelve continues to be 'enthralled' by these books. It is understandable why the Philosophers/Sorcerrers Stone had some appeal. It was unchallenging, imaginitive storytelling, although hardly more inspirationall or originall than a 'Worst Withch' story, taking on a Goosebumps-esque format. However the second in the series, The Chamber Of Secrets, continues in exactly the same style, repeating the pattern of the first book. It fails to do any further character development, leaving the protaganists one dimensionall and uniform. It also bases all the humour element on stereotypes e.g the clumsy fat boy, Nevil. This really is enriching childrens world view! A further annoyance to me is that boundries between 'good' and 'evil' are laid down from the beginning, again enforcing stereotypes. The reader is autoumatically encouraged to be biased on the side of the 'goodies', justifying Harries actions and incriminating Malfroy's etc. No alternative perspectives are offered and no explanation is given as to why the 'evil' people behave as they do other than them simply being 'baddies'. If the character does not comply to the authers ideal they are bad! There seems to be no underlying point being portrayed in these books, In commparrison to other 'children's books' such as Phillip Pullman's, His Dark Materials Trillogy, this is meaningless and one dimensional. In fact the reason why these books have sold so much is the media hype surrounding them. It saddens me to see that people can't form their own oppinions of books based not on it's marketing and funding but on it's impact on the way they think. If you have agree with the stereotypical way this book is written, I suggest you and your children read 'Lord Of The Flies' and see it's implications!

P.S I am sure that I will recieve lots of negative critisism for this review but I'm not egotistical enough to care. Having unhelpful points on my name does not devalue my opinion, it merely justifies my point.

Summary: So much fun!
Review: I am an adult, and I am proud to say that I really enjoyed all three Harry Potter books. A friend of mine loaned them to me and I finished all three within a week. Imaginitive, well-written, and completely engrossing, these books are a treat for kids and adults alike. Excellent! I can't wait for the next one.

Summary: It is Sort of Counfusing
Review: I am at the very end of chapter 9 and it is getting confusing and I don't understand Harry's teacher that teaches about potions. BUT still I LOVE THIS BOOK. I am glad that Florida's Legislatures don't bande these books like in North Carolina I mean like from the schools.

I LOVE THIS BOOK AND I DON'T KNOW WITCH ONE IS NEXT!!!!!!!

Summary: Well thought-out.
Review: I am convinced that Rowling is one of the most talented storytellers ever existed. Her style resembles that of Steven King, but a bit more sophisticated. If you are a grown-up and think that Harry Potter is for children, that is not quite the case: adults can enjoy reading Rowling, too!

Summary: Harry Potter is an amazing book, with suspense & adventure!
Review: I am currently reading the book, after first reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It is probably the best book I have ever read. After the first book I didn't think it could get any better. But I was wrong. I just can't get enough of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Proffesor Dumbledore, Hagrid, and all the others.

Summary: Chamber of FUN!
Review: I am fortunate enough to have read all 3 books. Out of all 3 books my favorite one has to be Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Chamber of Secrets is more action-packed then the first one. If you enjoyed the first one then you'll love the 2nd one! Everyone suspects Harry as the heir of Salzaar Slytherin after a suprising Dueling Club lesson. Pretty soon muggle-born students are being attacked! Including one of Harry's best-friends...Hermione! Can Harry solve the problem before a muggle-born is killed? Find out...once again, if you loved the 1st one you'll definately love the 2nd one!

Summary: Not just for kids
Review: I am getting fairly sick of beating these books over people's heads only to have them look at me and say, "Aren't those books for kids?" Yes, they take place in middle school, and yes, they deal with wizards and flights of fancy and yes, the main characters are not even teenagers. However, Rowling has created books with an excellent sense of plot, she throws in twists and turns that certainly threw me for a number of loops. She is amazing at crafting characters that are engaging, original and a lot of fun to spend a few hours with. To top all of this fact, let us not forget that these are books in a series. In the first book there is a sense of safety, that these are children's books and that a wave of a magic wand is all that is needed to make everything come out alright. But this series is slowly shifting as the books continue, and there is a presence looming at the end of the fourth book that clearly shows us that Dumbledore, the schoolmaster who bails Harry and his friends out here and there during their adventures, is NOT going to be able to wave his magic wand and make everything better. The stakes are raised by the end of the fourth book, the danger is very real and an epic battle is shaping up between good and evil. These books are quick reads and deal with the lives of children in a fanciful world, but they are by no means books for children.

Summary: The two Harry Potter books are the best books ever.
Review: I am going into grade 5, and I LOVE Harry Potter so much. I read each book at least 1 time a week. I love reading about Harry because he can do magic.

Summary: This is a great book that goes beyond it's age levels.
Review: I am going to be a Junior in high school and I absolutely loved it. I found this book lying on a table at home where my little brother dropped it. I skimed through and started reading. I finished it that afternoon and decided to look through his books for the other Harry Potter story. It is a wonderful book and you should definately read it even if you are older than 12.

Summary: Gimme more of the good stuff...
Review: I am hopelessly addicted to Harry Potter. I am a Harry Potter junkie. I am compulsively obsessed with Harry Potter. Need I go on?

What a fabulous, wonderful follow-up to the fantastic first installment. Harry had me going places this time, for sure! And what adventures we went on...sneaking off into the Forbidden Forest following a trail of spiders, hanging out in the girls' bathroom with Moaning Myrtle, zooming through the air in a flying Ford Anglia. It is never enough to be a normal student for Harry, NO WAY! He HAS to solve the mystery of the Heir of Slytherin (and get himself into lots of trouble along the way).

Harry fans, you will not be disappointed with Year #2. Does not let you down after the attention-grabbing goodness of the first one. And the better news? There's 5 more to go in the series...
