Rating: Summary: Modern Day Mythology At Its Best Review: Harry Potter can easily be classified as a modern day myth. His character fits the classic make of the classic hero that was classified by John Campbell in his book The Hero With A Thousand Faces. Being a novel created in England, it is also easy to see the influences of the Victorian idea of the Orphan hero that Charles Dickens had mastered. In the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter is once again faced with the trials that life has offered him in order to become a great and yet humble hero. With each tiral that a hero faces, he or she must uncover another attribute about him or herself that will help in achieving the most recent objective. Harry finds this power to be his ability to talk to serpants. With his friends, Ron and Heirmone, Harry uncoveres the mysteries behind the Chamber of secrets before the muggle-borns are killed and Hogwarts is closed forever. Driven also by his fear of becoming the failed orphan, Harry also doesn't want to return to his aunt and uncle - who condone his ability to be a wizard. This story culminates into a fantastic climax that would make anyone unable to put it down (adult and child alike). Harry Potter is truly a wonderful myth for the modern age.

Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the Most Mysterious Review: Harry Potter gets locked in his room, because Dobby knocks over a bowl of Aunt Petunia's sugared violets. Ron comes to the rescue and brings Harry to his house. For some reason, Harry and Ron can't get through the barrier, so they fly the Weasleys car to Hogwarts. Proffesor Snape catches them and they get into detention before the first day. Suddenly, strange things start to happen. First, Mrs. Norris is turned into stone, and then students! When Hermione gets turned into stone, Harry and Ron decide to help Proffesor Lockheart, who gets chosen by the staff members to go retrieve the student that has been taken into the chamber itself. Once in the chamber, Harry has to battle a basilk, a large serpent. Who is the student that has been taken into the chamber and how Harry battles the serpent and does he win? You will have to read this awesome book to find out. I liked this book because it is filled with suspence.
Rating: Summary: Astounding writer! Astounding story! Review: Harry Potter had finished his first year at Hogwarts. The second story began as the first. Harry was with the Dursley family. This time, however, it was only until Summer was over and the next school year began. While with the Dursleys, Harry received an unexpected visitor in his bedroom. It was Dobby, a "house elf" (think slave) of some wealthy family. Dobby begged Harry not to return to Hogwarts and gave many dire warnings. Failing that, Dobby took drastic measures. This time, however, Ron's little sister, named Ginny, was in her first year at the school. She had a crush on Harry since she met him. ** The second book is just as fantastic as the first. I understand a movie based on this story is due for release around November 2002 in the States. If the movie follows the book, it will be a smashing success! Filled with suspense, good vs evil, and school rivalry, I foresee many awards for the book and movie alike! Extremely Recommended Reading! NOT just for the younger readers! **
